Doha (AFP) – Former champions Al Sadd of Qatar were upset by Uzbekistan’s Nasaf while the UAE’s Al Wasl suffered their third straight defeat in the AFC Champions League which resumed after a two-week break on Monday.

Al Sadd, who won the continental tournament in 2011, fell 1-0 away at the Markaziy Stadium in the southern Uzbek city of Qarshi, while Iran’s Persepolis dominated Al Wasl for a 2-0 victory at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

The Algerian striker, who scored a brace in Al Sadd’s 2-1 win over the UAE’s Al Wasl last week, was twice on target again as the 2011 champions saw off Iran’s Persepolis 3-1 at the Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.

Al Duhail, who were formed last year following the merger of top sides Lekhwiya and El Jaish, suffered an early shock when Brazilian Kiros Stanley fired the visitors ahead in the 12th minute after the ball rebounded off the post following a header by Morteza Tabrizi.
