To commemorate his jinky goal against Flamengo winning the 2011 Puskas Award for Goal of the
Year recently, 19-year old Neymar has been immortalised with an exhibition in the
Santos club museum a display which includes this rather handsome/hideously ugly <delete as
applicable> tin statue of the Brazilian urchin himself, complete with a razor-sharp mohawk which
is presumably fabricated from old Fanta cans.
My dad is certainly two things, he is a Glaswegian, and he is a football fan. Nothing strange I
know, but his club of choice baffles some, he comes from a family of Celtic fans, but for some
reason in the 1960′s he adopted Clyde as his team. This rubbed off on me, and along with my
brother we all follow the Bully Wee as well as Newcastle.
I am beyond elated. When I first started blogging, my goals were simple: break transfer rumors,
injury reports, starting elevens, and try to bring a little of ESPN-guys-yelling-in-suits to the
blogosphere. Since that fateful afternoon several years ago when I started this endeavor, I have
won countless awards.

It's been a few days now since Mike Jones screwed up the vast majority of football betting
markets up and down the length and breadth of the internet by awarding Newcastle that
dodgy penalty at Old Trafford a penalty many saw as overdue punishment for a team that 'never
concede penalties'.

Heather O'Reilly is competing against some of the best footballers of today for
the FIFA's Puskas Award, which recognises the 'Best Goal of the Year'. Of course, everybody has
their own interpretation of what constitutes a "great goal". Neymar, Lionel Messi, Rooney,
Giovani dos Santos and Ibrahimovic have all scored some of the most
beautiful ones this year, but so has Heather!
You can now vote for the FIFA Puskás Award for the best goal of the year. The voting begun on

What's that I smell? Is it cabbage? It smells a bit like cabbage...*sniff*...mixed
with...creosote? It's...it's...PROPER FOOTBALL! Proper football is back! Enough of your rubbish
inter-lull nonsense, the time has come to hunker down in your armchair, set your phaser to 'slob',
grab a room-temperature Tizer and spend the entire weekend driving a wedge between yourself and
your loved ones studiously watching triffic match after top top match, highlight after highlight,
cringing as the results pour in and Garth Crooks continues to splutter and froth over something so
insignificant it'd make your mind pop if you even began to know what he was up-in-arms
about.
November 2nd is a special day for many Mexicans, Hispanics in the US, and lots of Central
Americans. While most Americans have purchased candy by the bucket, South of the border cemeteries
fill with the living. And the living bring with them flowers, candles, and fresh food. Yet this
recent Dia de los Muertos reminded me of a special somebody: our incredibly flaky
spiritual correspondent Ferenc Puskas.
Back in January 1964 the Beatles released a track called "can't buy me love" which considering
the money they have made since then and the fame they have enjoyed, probably wasn't strictly
true. Certainly they have enjoyed a kind of loving, revered by millions of people in countless
countries worldwide.
If you watch the following video and you don't know anything about Messi, you would never thought
that this player is a left-footed footballer. This video is a collection for all Messi goals so far
for Barcelona with his right foot:
In many occasions, the left footed players find it more difficult to use their weak foot compared
to the right footed players.
The deadly triumvirate of Law, Best and Charlton swept opposition from its path and led Manchester
United to win the FA Cup in 1963 and the League in 1965 and 1967. Had it not been for a

Pele, Eusebio, Di Stefano, Puskas, Van Basten, Cruyff and Charlton are a few footballers that
roll off the tongue when one draws up lists or have in-depth debates about who the greatest
footballer was of the 20th Century.
These lofty names featured in a football documentary shown on Sky Sports in the last few months
called Football's Greatest.
With his tow goals at the weekend against Real Sociedad, Cristiano Ronaldo made Real Madrid
history as he became the first Real Madrid player to score 50 goals in only 51 league games.
The previous record had been 50 goals in 54 goals which had been held by the legendary
Puskas.
An amazing record by Ronaldo.
Seguimos con nuestro repaso en Retrofootball a los grandes equipos de la historia del fútbol
europeo y es el turno para el Benfica.
A primeros de los 60 fue dos veces campeón de Europa, en los
años 61 y 62.
Even when it doesn't count, Messi is stunning. Look at that pass! It is impossible not to hit
that ball too hard or too soft. I'm officially calling him Young Skywalker. That pass? It's
nothing! He used to bullseye womprats in his speeder back on Tatooine.
In the summer, Napoli sold goalscoring machine Di Natale and signed Edinson Cavani, fresh off
his performance as the third best striker on the Uruguay squad.
