See The Cup 19 November @ 12:43 AM EST
As you're probably aware, Brazilian football (CBF and CONMEBOL for that matter) have no respect
for the international break. So two matches took place in Brazil on Wednesday night one for Copa
Sudamericana and one for the Brasileiro. And it was enough for the biggest collective nervous
breakdown, I've ever seen.

Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou and Abdoulaye Meite were both in the Ivory Coast squad to face
Germany in Wednesday's international friendly (2-2 draw). Neither was available for Saturday's
World Cup qualifiying win over Guinea after the two went all hyphy on each other in training. The
two have since made up (awww).

Galaxy 0 Chivas USA 0
The Galaxy have had the better of this game so far and by all rights should be leading.
A 25-yard Chris Klein volley from a Landon Donovan cross in the 35th minute was perhaps the best
Galaxy chance, requiring as it did an agile punch by Chivas USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton to send it
over the bar.

Manchester United go into tomorrow's big Premier League clash against Chelsea with many pundits
expecting a hammering for the champions, there's no surprise there given what happened at Old
Trafford in the summer with the loss of two world-class strikers and the quality of the
replacements that followed.

If there is one thing that really grinds the Yank's gears it is when athletes that commit a
stupid act try to defend it weeks later rather then just allowing the situation to pass and
admitting their own stupidity.
Manchester City player and Wales team captain Craig Bellamy was recently a guilty party of such
a crime.

When you say to the uninitiated that you just watched a really exciting nil-nil game they tend to
look at you in manner that suggests you are not all there; for them it's like going to Vegas and
not gambling. But if you know what's what, a scoreless draw is akin to two blind-folded guys
fighting; they may never land a punch but the near misses are what make it entertaining.

Remember when Craig Bellamy confronted a fan on the Old Trafford pitch just one month ago? When
Premiership Talk posted the picture seen to the right, showing Bellamy's clenched fist on the face
of a fan? Bellamy eventually escaped punishment in that case, and at long last he has explained
why.

Remember when you would fall and hurt yourself when you were little (as opposed to when you were
insanely drunk this past weekend) and your mother would try and trick you into thinking your bruise
or scrape was instantly healed by "kissing it all better"? Well, I'm pretty sure that's what the
Fenerbahce physio does for Roberto Carlos (0:30 into the video above) after he took an Abdulkader
Keita punch to the head in the 74th minute of Fener's 3-1 win over Galatasaray on Sunday.

Where is the refing consistency? Fox, who have now clearly turned to supporting the Roar after
ditching them after game 3, clearly need to write to the FFA that the Refs need to be re-briefed.
Well maybe not. But apart from Miller's punch, how was the Roar's treatment of Kruse worse than
Sydney's treatment of Oar?

Heartbreak for Fandi Ahmad's Young Guns as the same old problems from last season returned to haunt
them in their first home game of the new season.
Things started brightly enough for Pelita Jaya as they took the lead through their new signing,
Colombian international Edison Fonseca, in the first minute but from then on it was same old, same
old for Pelita Jaya as they failed to capitalise.

Arsenal 3-1 Birmingham City
I suppose football is the popular game that it is partly because, while money, good management
and history will always bubble to the top over the course of a season, so much still relies on the
vagaries of the human mind.
So it was yesterday.

Now that was the best tie I've ever watched. Down early 2-0 the US fought back hard to earn a tie
in the final seconds of the game, keeping the US at the top of the table and pushing Honduras into
the World Cup.
Bornstien scores as heard on Honduran radio.
Two nations exploded with sound as, Bornstien's head hit the ball and sent it bouncing into the
bottom corner of the net.

This guy probably could've put in some meaningful minutes for the punch-less U.S. U-20 team.

Needing a win against a depleted Colorado team on their 3rd game in one week the Wizards earned
a point at home and basically kissed their playoff aspirations good bye. Only winning out and
getting a lot of help will keep KC from watching the MLS playoffs from home.
So the Wizards, in their typical "must win" situation, playing a team on their 3rd game this
week, which was missing at least 4 starters, finished the game with 4 defenders and a holding mid
and not getting a goal.

"Beaten like a rented mule" is a phrase that I have never understood. Who rents mules? What sort of
coverage do you need as a renter? Are beatings covered under the insurance and is that why some
hard-hearted, criminal S.O.B. would feel OK with committing such a despicable act? These are all
questions that I may never know the answer to.

It's not often I'm happy to see Man United win, and while a draw yesterday in the Man City derby
would have been a better result for Arsenal, the fact that Man U won 4-3 meant I was £150 richer

Tensions ran high in the Premier League on Sunday, giving us a few more events to add to the
shame reel for this young season. So come with us now, on a photographic tour of all the ugliness
that occurred.
Starting off, we have Blackburn's El-Hadji Diouf (pictured above) a man who has already in his
career been fined and banned for spitting on a Celtic supporter and former Portsmouth player Arjen
De Zeeuw allegedly saying "f**k off white boy" to a ball boy who didn't properly hand him the ball
during Blackburn's 3-0 loss to Everton.

New York were without their best player, Juan Pablo Angel, and KC had to hold on late, but KC came
away with 3 points against the New York Red Bulls last night in New York to finish their road trip
with 6 of 9 points. While that's the good news, the Wizards still had trouble finishing off
opportunities, and much like Wednesday dominated play but could not find multiple goals.

Being relegated has apparently done very little to humble Joey Barton. But instead of fighting
with opponents and random people on the street, Joey has turned his rabid anger on his own
team.
He started the season with a training ground bust up with caretaker manager Chris Houghton that
results in Barton being reduced to substitute duty against West Brom last week and now he's
successfully alienated himself from the temporary manager, he's hoping he can do the same with his
teammates namely, goalkeeper Steve Harper.
