The midfield. Currently viewed as the strength of the team. But is it really set right now?
Let's break it down:
Defensive Midfielders: Pavel Pardo, Logan Pause, Daniel Paladini, Mike
Videira
This is clearly the strength of the midfield. Pavel Pardo is in a class by himself.

Still warm and cuddly after Sunday but a midweek trip to a freezing Lancashire is not what was
wanted, particularly to a Lancashire team who are in the process of turning their season
around.
The recent beatings of both Liverpool teams is evidence of Bolton's turnaround.
Add in the Cup win over Swansea and we can see tonight's game will be a challenge.

Now, this isn't football. It's not even American football. But it is hugely entertaining...
footage of two 73-year-old Canadian football legends, Joe Kapp (on the left) and Angelo Mosca,
attempting to settle their decades-old feud with not entirely successful results.
I can understand protecting Charlie Davies if you've got a rumor of trade interest that you
think might enable you to significantly improve the team1. I can even plunge past the mystifying
decision to protect a well-past-it Simms if a pay-cut or trade are on the horizon.
But Korb and Woolard?
The shock factor in football brawls is pretty much dead at this point, outside of someone
bringing a cache of weapons from the bench or a nine year old throwing perfect eight-punch combos
in a church rec league at the ordained referee. And even then....
These are fifteen year-olds from Russia, teams of Vladikavkaz & Rostov, partaking in a
third-place game and some extensive extracurricular activities.

Alexi Lalas MLS blog: Why madman Marquez would still have a place in my
team
Welcome to MirrorFootball's new MLS blog, brought to you in conjunction with ESPN. Every week
USA legend Alexi Lalas will be on hand to bring you the latest news from the States, and you'll
also be able to watch the week's best goals and highlights.
Hello again friends, I hope you're all well. What a torrid time it has been in the last week or so,
I can't believe the first games of the playoffs have flown by so quickly, we've had some routine
results, some unexpected jaw droppers and even a punch-up! It's never boring in the MLS is it.

1) And we start in the Romanian top flight today (where else?) with a match between Steaua
Bucharest and Petrolul Ploiesti that might charitably be called 'rambunctious'.
Boy things got a little out of hand after the LA-New York game on Sunday. LA for the most part
dominated the opening leg of the series between the two sides but things got ugly in a hurry after
the final whistle was blown.
Rafa Marquez tossed the game ball at Landon Donovan which quickly caused a couple other players
like Juninho and Adam Cristman to get involved Stephen Keel also stepped in and probably paid for
it in a way.
My mama always told me that the older brother sets the example for the younger brother. Glenn
Gronkowski proved my mama right with his latest tweet. Check out the Glenn Gronkowski picture below
in which he decides to dress up like his brother for Halloween.
As you've probably heard by now, Rob Gronkowski apologized for posing with a porn star.
Good thing this guy decided to be a soccer player. If he had to do anything with his upper body,
he'd fail miserably. Watch the video below of a soccer player punching a ref.
The soccer player, named Julian Bursuc, was upset about something. He was talking with one ref
but then when another ref entered the mix, he lost it.
Moldova doesn't get enough love. It doesn't get any love, really, unless you're prone to
swinging by UEFA's Football Europe site, where it gets the occasionally hat tip and shoo-away.
Julian Bursuc did something to change that with a rather crude right hand to the referee's mug,
whose shoulder defense skiffs the punch perfectly.
Who doesn't love the Wikipedia game? (Employers, actually, but work with me.) Start out
somewhere random and hours later, land somewhere even more random after 42,817 clicks of the mouse.
Like starting at Anis Ben-Hatira and ending at Mata Hari.
Apparently it works with football videos too.
Germany was lucky to survive Belgium's early pressure. Something which was also true for the
Turkey game. Germany's back-line didn't look particularly composed, organized and fit to soak up
the pressure. Germany benefitted from the lack of precision and punch of the Turkish and Belgian
attacks, which made them easier to defend.
This is easily the greatest thing to happen to cell phones since that thing with the bubbles
which got many a person through hospital and doctor waiting rooms sans boredom. It's caled Eye Mou,
and the video explains all. Basically, it's a taste of his own medicine.
But as with all great inventions, the genius is in the detail: That Guy in the background makes
the whole thing.
I would hate to be in Helsinki this coming Friday. Its already enough that the cruise ships that
trawl back and forth between Stockholm and the Finish capital bring their fair share of completely
loaded weekend alcoholics. It's another thing when you mix this with a football game. Come Friday
night, Helsinki is going to be packed with Sweden supporters singing loud and obnoxiously while
downing beer after beer.

A league source has told the Brotherly Game that Faryd Mondragon suffered a broken right ring
during the first half of the Philadelphia Union's 2-1 loss against Real Salt Lake. The Union have
yet to official name what Mondragon's injury is.
Broken fingers take between three and six weeks to heal fully, according to Web MD online.
UPDATE: Beaten to the punch by the industrious Never Captain Nicky Butt. Here is his Transfer
Window Winners and Losers. ### Sorry for the light posting. It's an international break, after
all. Additionally there was just too much transfer news -- in the end, not really, but it wasn't
worth posting until everything was said and done.
Sebastian Coates signs with Liverpool:
We gave you the full overview of Liverpool's imposing new defender on Friday, but issues with
securing the work permit and that Nacional representatives flew to England to complete the deal
delayed his official signing. An hour ago, Uruguayan sources with contacts in the Coates camp
announced he had signed and was having his picture taken with a Liverpool shirt, and thirty minutes
later Luis Suarez beat the official site to the punch by announcing on Twitter and Facebook that
his friend Coates had indeed signed before quickly realising it hadn't been officially announced
yet and taking it down.
Frankly we got away with it: it could easily have been 8 on both sides of the north London
divide. By the time Spurs found a little of the good stuff, City had made and missed three good
chances. More opportunities came their way as the game progressed and they eagerly sliced through
our toiling, bewildered defence.
