Danish midfielder Philip Lund returns to Puget Sound, now repping Tacoma.

The MASL Tacoma Stars added another former Seattle Sounders player today. Philip Lund, 28, returns to the Puget Sound after a playing the last few years in the Faroe Islands, Norway and Oklahoma City. Lund played for the Sounders in 2013 with 16 minutes in MLS play and 593 minutes in the USL with the Sounders Reserves (prior to S2 formally joining USL).

U.S. Open Cup early rounds could feature all-Puget Sound matchup

On May 11th the 102nd Lamar Hunt US Open Cup gets underway. In the Puget Sound that means PDL side Sounders U23s get to host California club Outbreak FC.

Outbreak is based out of Long Beach/Huntington Beach where they host adult and youth teams. Their team earned a chance at the Open Cup through local qualifying, beating San Pedro Monsters FC and Buena Park FC.

Much has been made of Brian Schmetzer's history not just with the Seattle Sounders, but his connections to virtually every soccer team in the Puget Sound area. So seeing this picture of him as a member of the Tacoma Stars isn't surprising.

Seattle University's Alex Roldan and former Academy keeper Paul Christensen are among Combine invitees.

Of the 60 NCAA Division I seniors invited to the MLS Draft Combine, seven of them have Puget Sound ties. Alex Roldan is a Seattle University student-midfielder who played for TSS Rovers (PDL) and OSA FC (NPSL).

They've been wrapped in love, in greens, in blues and in shales. These opening season poems, whether metered, rhyming or free thought, were never about a reigning MLS Cup winner.
