Competitveness is a Matter of Perspective

2
A perennial topic of conversation among football fans is whether or not football has become "too predictable" and "too slanted towards the top teams", and often the balme for this is laid at the feet of greedy owners, Sky, globalization or what have you. Premiership Preview--6. Tottenham

1
The 2007-2008 season was a roller coaster for Tottenham Hotspur. Martin Jol was removed from the manager's post in late October, but only found out through a text message sent to his nephew, who then forwarded the news to the Dutchman's phone. A team that was a trendy pick to break into the top four at Arsenal's expense was sitting around 15th place at the time, and for all the plaudits received by Juande Ramos for the job he did after he took over from Jol, Spurs still only wound up in 11th. Goodbye Gilberto + Arsecast 84

2

Morning all, another week over (nearly) and tomorrow sees our first pre-season friendly take place. Woo hoooo!

There's only one place to start this morning and that's the departure of Gilberto Silva, confirmed officially by the club yesterday. In stark contrast to the rather cutting remarks made by Arsene Wenger about Hleb's move the official website was full of good cheer towards the Brazilian, and so it should be.

He is quite something... Sent away from PSV by none other than Guus Hiddink. Played for AGOVV in the cellar of professional football. One to watch - Huerelho Gomes...

Tottenham is determined to break into the top four next season in the quest to bring Champions League football to the white side of London, and gaffer Juande Ramos is equally determined to spend a great deal of money in order to do so. Francisco Javier Maza Rodriguez Pinedo al PSV

1

Oranje Wednesday - PSV Eindhoven go nine points clear, Ajax down to third

2
PSV Eindhoven opened up a nine-point gap at the top of Eredivisie despite only drawing 1-1 with Heerenveen. The result did mean that Heerenveen moved up to second in the table at the expense of Ajax. Oranje Wednesday: PSV Eindhoven beat Ajax and open up eight-point lead

Table-topping PSV Eindhoven recorded a 0-2 away win over nearest rivals Ajax to open up an eight-point gap. In a bumper week of Eredivisie action, PSV stretched their lead last Wednesday night thanks to goals from Balázs Dzsudzsák and Otman Bakkal.
