ARSENAL'S FANS SHOULD STAND AND ASK FOR KROENKE EXIT by MA
I have been an Arsenal fan since the first time I saw the red and white jersey raising majestically high in the sky of Highbury. My family's older generations have always been Liverpool supporters. But my heart beats for Arsenal and I am proud to be a Gunner.
Gutless, Heartless, Leaderless, Pathetic, Useless, Depressing! by Adam Kemp
What another woeful display at home in a massive must win game against Bayern Munich. First of all I must simply credit Bayern for finally producing football that fits in well at the Emirates. If only we could swap squads only then would I be happy to pay the ticket prices.
It all got a bit nervy yesterday at Stamford Bridge when it looked like Chelsea could be on the verge of throwing away a second 2-0 lead in less than a week. As if Rafa Benitez wasn't already feeling the pressure he had the ghost of Roberto Di Matteo breathing down his neck during the [...]
Who are we to say 'There needs to be change at Arsenal Football Club' by JM
Arsenal Football Club and the clubs board do not know, well they certainly do not take us seriously. Are we as a fan base happy with the last seven years? Are we happy with inconsistency and our goal of finishing just top four which has now turned into a scrap to keep our heads afloat.
Is wanting Arsenal not to qualify for Champions league football or protesting a sign of not being a 'true and loyal' fan'? bt TN
Many Arsenal fans have been either writing or saying they hope 'Arsenal don't qualify for the champions league' this year. And in response, they have been accused of not being 'true fans' and have even had their loyalty questioned, but is this fair?
"For me there are five trophies: Premier League, Champions League, the third is to qualify for the Champions League, the fourth is the FA Cup and the fifth is the League Cup." Those were Wenger's words from the AGM. Listening to those words tell you that there is no Ambition at the club anymore, and that money is more important than trophies to Arsenal F.
Do you know what? I find all this herd mentality of ganging up to slag off our manager Arsene Wenger distasteful in the extreme. It is a behaviour that is more fitting of the spoiled brat in the playground who for years has been getting everything he wants and then starts squealing when he doesn't get what he wants and lashes out at the person who he sees as the being responsible for not getting his way.
There is probably a very simple answer to the above question, and it is not yes. It would be nice to think that the Arsenal fans and their feelings and opinions were important to Stan Kroenke, Ivan Gazidis and Peter Hill-Wood, but I just doubt it somehow. If the Arsenal fans were to become a corporate entity that paid for advertising, then we would be treated like royalty, but we are all individuals (I'm not).
There was a great response from Arsenal fans to the recent post about protests, with lots of ideas about boycotting merchandise, matches and making our frustration felt. Some fans want Wenger out while others think his hands are tied, but all seem to agree that the board are not looking after the interests of the fans.
Shortly after Boca Juniors lost to Corinthians in the Copa Libertadores final, 34-year-old Juan
Roman Riquelme announced his intention to leave the Argentine giants for a second time. It was a
devastating blow to Boca fans made even worse when word spread that their all-mighty hero might go
to Brazil to join Flamengo.
Occasional England team-mates Andy Carroll and Wayne Rooney clashed during last night's West Ham versus Manchester United match. The pair tangled at the corner that led to Carroll's head-first assault on David De Gea. After a bit of usual set-piece pushing and shoving, Rooney appeared to tread on Carroll's foot, Sunday League style.
Norwich City 2-0 Aston Villa Premier League 20th May 2012
The Canaries finished off a fine first season back in the big time by beating the perennially
dismal Aston Villa 2-0 at Carrow Road.
One of the surprise stars of the season, Grant Holt, netted the opener on eight minutes before
Simeon Jackson doubled the home side's advantage midway through the first-half.
It's not unusual for a player who's been sent-off to show dissent towards the referee, but this is
rarely expressed through the medium of Michael Jackson dance routines. That was the approach taken
by Sport Recife player Tobi. Given his marching orders by the ref, he opted for Moonwalk-ing order
instead.
In which Sport Recife defender Tifo is shown a second yellow for barrelling through the back of
Santa Cruz striker Flavio. The ref then asks Tifo to show his shirt number and the centre-half duly
obliges only with a little bit of a flourish, choosing to moonwalk back toward the official in
protest at the incredulity of it all.
Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer is presumably still not welcome at the club despite saving the
penalties that took the German giants to the Champions League final. The Bavarian side's protested
about the ex-Schalke goalie's arrival at the club last summer. In the protest above they unveiled a
massive banner reading: "No matter how [.
After seeing their game against Levante bumped back from 10:00pm to 10:30pm to give El Clasico
the prime time limelight, Sevilla launched a protest against the powers that be as soon as the
match kicked off at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan immediately bombarding the pitch with a hail of
tennis balls (like FC Basel before them) to disrupt the game along with the
unfurling of a huge banner which read something akin to "Stop the match, Mourinho is talking".
Fans of Spanish side Sevilla launched a tennis ball protest after having the kick-off time of their
match against Levante moved. Supporters were unimpressed that their game was put back by
half-an-hour so that broadcasters could soak up all the post-match reaction and interviews from
Saturday's El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Tsanko Tsvetanov has been sacked by Bulgarian outfit Etar Veliko Tarnovo for a third time since August. The Lazarus-like manager had already faced the chop after a 0-1 defeat away at Beroe Stara Zagora in August. But Etar's fans were not ready to part with Tsvetanov and he was reinstated after a protest.
Verona defender Emanuele Pesoli has gone on hunger strike over the three-year ban handed to him
as part of the Italian Football Federation's (FIGC) investigation into the Scomessopoli
match-fixing scandal.
The 31-year old has also chained himself to the front gate of the FIGC headquarters in Rome in
protest, telling the Italian press:
"I am hurt by the sentence and I would like to confront those who accuse me.
The Philadelphia Union plays host to the San Jose Earthquakes Redux in this weekend's 7 PM clash at
PPL Park. Coach Petey "Pablo" Nowak will be sitting this one out after receiving a two game
suspension for his actions in last weekend's bloodless "melee" at the Home Depot Center. Ever
loyal, Gabe Farfan and Keon Daniel have chosen to sit this game out in protest of the sanctions
against their favorite coach.
Football fans have been known to throw everything from coins and lighters to cups of beer on the
pitch during matches, but you rarely see them chucking crutches. Upset by their club's recent form,
Racing fans threw a bunch of them onto the pitch during a Copa Argentina match against
fourth-division club Sarmiento as a form of protest.
Out-of-favour Manchester City defender Kolo Toure reportedly gave away his Community Shield medal
in protest at being snubbed by manager Roberto Mancini. The 31-year-old was not picked for the
victory over Chelsea and, as a consequence, was not overly appreciative of his silverware. The
Ivorian centre-back exchanged angry words with Mancini after giving the medal [.
After spending the whole of last season demanding the dismissal of their manager, you would think
Blackburn fans would take a breather over the summer to recharge their batteries for the
forthcoming onslaught come mid-August. But no, another protest has popped up, and at the London
Olympics no less. Despite the Spain v Honduras match [.
Black players in the Netherlands squad were racially abused during an open training session in
Krakow, according to their captain Mark Van Bommel. The Dutch skipper was leading his side in a lap
of the pitch in front of 20,000 fans when the abuse was heard by the players. After completing a
second lap and [.
UEFA President Michel Platini was warned that any player who chooses to walk off the pitch in
protest over racist abuse at Euro 2012 will be booked for their insolence specifically singling out
Mario Balotelli, who has vowed to walk and/or kill any troglodyte fans that see fit to fling their
filth at him during the tournament.
A local activist group called 'Femen' decided to hijack the exhibiting of the Euro 2012 trophy
in Kiev by trying to nick the trophy as well as flashing a breast or two in protest.
The group are concerned about the potential increase in human trafficking ad prostitution during
the Euro 2012 finals and so decided to make a topless stand in protest.
It seems a week can't go buy without some celebration of Euro 2012 being hit by a topless
activist from FEMEN. Their purpose is simple yet broad: women's rights, particularly in relation to
the sex trade. (Though they do venture beyond.) The methods of protest are rather eye-catching,
making them arguably the most visible group in the buildup of the tournament, and likely to be the
most discussed topless "fans" until Michel Platini whips out his own pair during France's knockout
games.
Reading and Ocean City pull off major upsets in USOC 2nd round over pro sides. OC files protest to have site of PPL 3rd rounder moved. Manchester City and New York Yankees backed NYCFC 20th MLS club. More news.
Recreativo Huelva, Spain's oldest club, have angered their fans by choosing a new away kit that
looks like something that Minnie Mouse would be happy to wear to a party. The shirt is described as
red with 'white moons', and has been mocked by rival fans, and although fans did organise a
protest, it is [.
If you noticed that an entire section within the supporter's section was empty for most of the
second half yesterday, here's why.
An individual was arrested and removed from the section by police, prompting El Batallon to
remove their banner and walk out in apparent protest. This is not the first time EB has been at the
center of trouble at Dynamo games and based on off-the-record comments I've heard over the past
months, the FO's patience with this group is wearing thin.
As the memory of the Anfield cat begins to fade, a new animal king of the Premier League
emerges: The Blackburn chicken.
Wearing a Blackburn flag as a cape, the proud chicken invaded the pitch early in the first half
of Blackburn's fight to avoid relegation against Wigan, halting the match until he was caught in
the goal net by Wigan keeper Ali Al Habsi and Blackburn's Yakubu.
The final home game for Villa this season sees their fans not exactly confident at picking up what
would be only their fifth home win of the season. There are rumours of a protest before and after
the game that may or may not have been cancelled, but it's definitely driving a wedge between the
fans who would rather get behind the team at this late stage and those who want to make their
feelings clear to the board.
Moments after their match against Levante kicked off, the game was suspended for a few minutes
as fans threw dozens of tennis balls onto the field. The protest was against El Clásico, which
altered the game's schedule to a late night kickoff.

Well today certainly took an interesting twist. Here I was working on an article for later
(which will still appear) and this little press release pops into my inbox which left my mouth
agape. That's not to say I'm angry at the trade or anything like that, but for other reasons I'll
get to a little later in this post.
