And they're back! : Two activists from women's rights organisation
Femen in Ukraine staged a protest in front of the Arena Lviv stadium before its opening ceremony in
Lviv over the weekend. As you may recall, they started a campaign to protest against sex tourism,
prostitution, and alcohol sales at sports stadiums at next year's Euro 2012 (read this post).
Well, this is a truly shocking photograph but believe it or not, the woman here isn't a deranged
football fan! She's a member of FEMEN, a Ukrainian Women Movements group
(we'd call it a 'feminist' group but that term is tragically overused
these days), who participated in a protest at Ukraine's newly reconstructed Olympiyskiy Stadium
last week.
Watching the France-Canada game of the Women's World Cup yesterday, I was exhilarated by the
playing of the French side. Their dominance in the game was a surprise to many, and to me, and also

In the months leading up to and during the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, the French
National Team found itself and its players involved in numerous scandals. One of the most infamous
of those scandals involved allegations that Franck Ribery, Karim Benzema, and Sidney Govou had sex
with an underage prostitute.
In the quaint Luxembourg stadium on Friday, in front of a hopeful banner that read "Lux 4, Fra
0," the pitch welcomed Patrice Evra and Franck Ribéry back from their period of post-World Cup
exile. The game itself was, to put it politely, not the most thrilling of match-ups France is lucky
to be in European Cup qualifying group with some of Europe's cutest nations, Luxembourg and the
Faroe Islands but the mild victory by France further solidified it's march towards the 2012
European Cup, and more importantly registered as the end of one thing and, hopefully, the beginning
of another.
When Lawrence Taylor was arrested on May 6th and charged with third-degree rape, endangering the
welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute, it appeared as if he was headed to the slammer. On
Thursday, Lawrence Taylor reached a plea bargain that allows his to avoid jail time. In the plea
bargain, Taylor had to plead guilty to sexual misconduct and soliciting a prostitute.
[Two men sit in a television studio, jaws slack as highlights play
out on the screen behind their desk. One is drooling while that song from every damn movie trailer
ever made plus the movie that everybody knows for the joke about "ass to ass" but nobody's actually
seen plays in the background.
