This morning, my personal site, the Kartik Report along with partner site Inside Minnesota Soccer

discussed at Match Fit USA among other places, today it was revealed that Miami FC purchased the

The future of American soccer appears to be the past of American soccer.
It's being reported that the new breakaway league consisting of several former USL clubs has
registered the name North American Soccer League, apparently with the intent of using it at launch
next spring.
There are those of us old enough to remember the original NASL (if you're not, go here).

The Dayton Dynamo were, I now realize, far from a high-quality team. But in Southwest Ohio in
early 1990s, there were few better options. European soccer on television would come later that
decade, but growing up the only live option was the Dynamo.
The Dynamo did not even play the true 11-a-side game seen around the world.

Dear Mr. Goodell,
What has been witnessed all season long at Qwest Field in Seattle is the potential of
professional Soccer in the U.S. Interestingly, it has all taken place at a football stadium.Â
Who would have ever guessed, 14 years in, that MLS would make its biggest impact in a football
stadium.

That's according to Brian Boswell, coach of the Rolling Hills Estates-based Women's Professional
Soccer League club Ajax America (for years now one of the top women's teams in the nation and a
WPSL finalist again last year) and a sometime contributor to this blog.
The revelations were contained in what is essentially a begging letter circulating via e-mail
that seeks to ensure the continued existence of Ajax.

Boy, I can't wait until Major League Soccer, the United States of Americas' First Division
Professional Soccer League, comes to it's senses and dumps this stupid playoff format and finally
creates a slavish copy of the vastly superior European (read: English Premier League) single table,
winner take all, regular-season-is-all-that-matters setup so that we can have a little excitement
at the end of the year.

Major League Soccer displayed an uncharacteristic sense of levelheadedness with its announcement
to break for the 2010 World Cup and move next season's schedule to a balanced, home-and-home
structure. With any other professional soccer league in the world, these moves would not have even
registered.

At least, that's what Wendy Parker would have you believe. Besides her article on Pitch Invasion,
she's slagged me off on her twitter account, soccer news aggregator site, and even her Atlanta
Soccer News site. The basic premise is the same, but it seems Wendy got increasingly worked up as
she plotted, wrote, and then basked in the afterglow of the article that was largely written in
response to me.

The Women's Professional Soccer League has not generated much interest from the casual sports fan,
let alone the average soccer fan. Soccer America's Mike Woitalla examines what problems lie within
trying to develop a women's professional soccer league.
The first season of the Women's Professional Soccer league produced smaller crowds and bigger
financial losses than anticipated. Click to continue reading...

There's a wonderful song, made popular (if that's the word) by Dr. Demento, done by a guy named
Dana Lyons called
Cows With GunsIt's about how cattle being led to the slaughter rose up and fought "for bovine freedom":
He was a scrawny calf, who looked rather woozy
No one suspected he was packing an UziThis could have been - but undoubtedly was not - the inspiration for the USL Team Owners
