Well, while waiting on pins and needles in the hopes that Liverpool have signed Fabio Borini (look,
there's a picture of him in training gear!), we get news that Maxi Rodriguez's inevitable exit has
finally come to pass.
Which Liverpool did an excellent job of promoting, as has become par for the course.
Roma have played down speculation that they are lining up a move for Liverpool ace Luis Suarez.
Recent reports emanating from Italy have suggested Suarez was on Roma's list of summer transfer
targets as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Suarez's future at Anfield has been the subject of conjecture in the wake of his eight-match ban
for racially abusing Patrice Evra earlier this season.
It's only mid-February but we're already perilously close to what The Flight of the Concords would
call 'Business Time'. By that, I don't mean Arsenal football club are going to wine and dine our
opponents, and then take them back to the Emirates for some 'business' - I apologise if this is
getting a little weird - I mean that we're coming up to the real make-or-break period of the
season.
With the weekend's Premiership action ended, things at the top of the table remains almost
status quo. Along with us; Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle all achieved
similar 1-1 draws. The only benefactors in that section of the table are Chelsea and Tottenham who
both won their respective fixtures.

Just what are we to make of the various statements that have appeared in the press
lately?
First came the not so very surprising one from the want-away van Persie, the full text of which
can be found on the player's website. After spending most of his eight years at the club being
nurtured by Arsene Wenger and nursed by the medical staff he had a really good season and suddenly
discovered that he disagreed with the direction the management was taking.
UEFA have fined Arsenal and Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner after he whipped out his Paddy
Power boxers when he celebrated after scoring against Portugal in his country's Group B match at
Euro 2012.
The Dane has been fined £80,000 for improper conduct and will also be banned for one
competitive international match.
This is the BIG news this morning people, so hold on to your pancreases. Thierry Henry is
building a fish tank. Not just any fish tank mind you, no no. It's a fnarkin' enormous one bigger,
in fact, than the Adriatic Sea*.
Stuart Pearce states its all "footballing reasons" why David Beckham was not chosen. He did his
due diligence watching Becks play in the flesh and also watching DVDs of his LA Galaxy
performances. It's the Olympics in London, and the least he can do is give a good account of team
GB on home soil.
By Tony Edwards - San Jose, CA (Jan 19, 2012) US Soccer Players -- In today's edition, Tony asks
about Everton's tactics and upcoming schedule, looks at Steve Cherundolo's Hannover '96 back in
action in Germany, wonders about the Rapids' priorities going into the season, and asks Joe Cannon
not to quit his day job.
There is a big laundry list of things new manager Mark Hughes needs to get QPR off and running.
The London side have scored just 19 goals, one more than Wigan's output, the worst in the
Premiership. Apart from the scoring woes, one of Hughes's biggest priorities will be to get Barton
to act like the senior citizen he should be at 29 years of age.
Let's say you ran a small business. It doesn't matter what industry, just a small business, a
start-up, still young. You're still trying to make it work, still losing money, still hoping you
can find a committed local investor who will put some money into the thing.
So you work on this one project for a week or so, while doing all the other things you do on a
regular basis to try to keep the lights on and the staff paid.
There is some debate about whether football should have a place in the Olympics, given that it
should be the height of any competitor's career. Does a footballer have too many higher priorities?
Well who cares, the clobber looks decent. Despite the Welsh FA already revealing that they would be
less than happy if their [.

A successful relationship between a football fan and a club chairman is surely built on faith and
trust? If so, Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Steve Morgan clearly has some ground to make up.

11 months ago, Morgan took to the Molineux pitch and declared an intention that our club wouldn't
be in this position again.

After finally receiving a call up to the US Men's National Team, Omar Gonzalez has backed out of
camp in order to go on loan. The LA Galaxy defender is headed to Germany to play for FC Nurnberg
until mid-February. The 2011 MLS Defender of the Year will be joining the team at their training
camp in Belek, Turkey.
Earlier this season, ambitious newly promoted premier league side, Queens Park Rangers (QPR)
didn't hide their intention in grabbing England's veteran midfielder, David Beckham, but apparently
that ambition has now died out.
QPR's hands off Beckham's deal was revealed by the club's manager, Neil Warnock, who stated that
at the moment his team probably needs other players instead of the flamboyant LA Galaxy
midfielder.
Fabrice Muamba reminds us that Football/Soccer is just a game - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
It was only a few minutes before halftime at White Hart Lane when Fabrice Muamba fell to the
ground. At first, it was unclear what happened as Muamba was not near any other player. Only
minutes later, paramedics rushed onto the pitch to give the Bolton player CPR.
The big team news from yesterday's press conference was that Aaron Lennon is definitely ruled
out of this evening's sixth round cup tie while Emmanuel Adebayor is an additional doubt with a
hamstring strain. There is a juggling of priorities to be done here and if there is any concern
over Ade then maybe he should be sitting this one out.
Both the cheapest and most effective advert Paddy Power have ever taken out
UEFA have announced this afternoon that Nicklas Bendtner has been fined a ludicrous €100,000
(£80,000) and will also be banned for one match after exposing the waistband on
his 'Paddy Power' pants after scoring against Holland.
Seattle it is, and we couldn't be more proud. Montero, Alonso, Rosales, and the league's biggest
fan base? This isn't a desperation pick. This is destiny.
And if we're wrong – if you show us up, Seattle – there are 18 other teams more than willing to
carry this flag. We'll change this up as needed (accuracy is our prime value).
Kenny Dalglish, the Liverpool manager, has accused the Football Association of showing a lack of
respect to supporters craving tickets for the FA Cup final.
An allocation of just 25,000 each for Liverpool and Chelsea, allied to more travel chaos for
Merseyside fans trying to get to and from London on May 5, has once more brought ticketing policies
and kick-off times into focus.
I love this story from Mac Anderson's 'Charging the Human Battery', and it really puts into
perspective how I plan to spend my Saturday.
The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday morning. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes
with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work.
Ecks-iting news!Well that was surprisingly fast! After hearing about the "99%
certainty" of Richard Eckersley's return to Toronto FC since late November, it took less than a day
after his "Ecks'ual release" from Burnley to finalize a permanent move to Toronto.

The Reds officially announced the deal just hours prior to their big media day event, no doubt
steering the news of the day onto the English defender.
Tattooist Leo Millares (above left) is a man who spends too much time with his hands on
footballer flesh for our liking. His latest work, posted on Twitter before the ink had even dried,
is a set of replica pooch prints on the tummies of Guti and his lady love Romina Belluscio.
In the spirit of honesty, I can let you know that I've been writing the same Revolution-focused
blog post for well over a week. It's a long winding tale of where the team stands and what you
might do differently from a business and marketing perspective. Goodness knows, I didn't have the
heart to also tackle on-field possibilities in the same post.
For fans of American Sports, even at the college level, there is usually only one prize.
The players and teams in the major leagues may win their division and their conference but it
means nothing if they don't win the ultimate prize and lift the Championship trophy. In England the
phrase 'We can concentrate on the league' is a very familiar one and can be used in one of two
ways.
