It's a tough situation Bob Bradley finds himself in. With very few friendly dates left before
South Africa to test our best against quality opposition, today's game against Denmark appears to
be a dud. The US is without its two most recognizable field players, Landon Donovan and Clint
Dempsey, while the Danes basically have a "B" side at their disposal which excludes such
recognizable names as Daniel Agger and Niklas Bendtner.

As you can see from the highlights, the US MNT's 1-0 loss to Slovakia wasn't pretty, but they
hung in there, got some good chances, and only allowed a goal on a questionable penalty kick (also,
good job spelling Marek Hamsik's name wrong, USsoccer.com).
There really isn't too much you can say about this match.

Atletico de Madrid put on a brave display to snatch a draw against Chelsea. The Spanish club have
had a harsh time in the Primera Division, as well as in the Champions League. But two sensational
strikes from Sergio Aguero ensured that fans at the Vicente Calderon did not go home unhappy.

Well it must be time for the holidays with all the firings that are beginning to occur around
the world of football. Plenty of dismal managers have already been kicked to the curb in other
leagues and now La Liga has its first prominent replacement happening this week. Atletico
Madrid's skipper Abel Resino is the first coach to go from any powerhouse squad in Spain and the
coach could not last an entire year in total length with his new squad.

Finishing 1-1 against the leader of the Mexican Primera Division on the road is a better result
than most of us expected, and probably a better result than we deserved. Still, thanks to some
inspired play by a few individuals, and some poor shooting by Toluca, we emerged with a single
point.
A win would have secured our spot in the Champions' League quarterfinals, but let's not count
ourselves out yet.

We're back in the United States for the week while club football returns to action around the
world. All of the top clubs were in action this past weekend and most of them play twice in the
coming week, so we are back in full force.
The volatility that marked the past few weeks in the rankings has slowed down this week, though
top-ranked Chelsea did manage to lose to Aston Villa to give up its place at the top spot both in
the Premiership and the rankings.

Sevilla-Real Madrid
It's gonna be a showdown this weekend in Spain as arguably the best La Liga defense plays
against arguably the best La Liga offense. These two clubs only have one loss between the two of
them and Sevilla is red hot right now and playing the best football they have so far during the
short year.

Okay, I'm getting close to just throwing up my hands on ESPN, especially ESPN Deportes, who
refuse to post schedules more than several hours ahead of time for the weekend. I know ESPND is
likely to broadcast both German and Spanish football this weekend, but I don't know which matches.
I could guess, for example I find it hard to believe that between GolTV and ESPND, nobody is going
to broadcast the Barcelona match, but as of the moment I'm writing this, nobody claims to be –
but then ESPND isn't "claiming" to have determined anything it's showing this weekend, so who the
Hell knows?

Another week of Spain's Primera Division is in the books and many of the strongest clubs
continued their relentless speedy rabbit pace towards the top of the league table and many
mediocre clubs continued their tortoise pace falling towards the bottom of the league table. So

Atletico Madrid coach Abel Resino has plenty of problems heading into this weekend`s Primera
Division clash with Valencia. Real Madrid are at home to promoted Tenerife this weekend and could
be boosted by the return of both Pepe and Xabi Alonso after suspension and injury,
respectively.

Fernando Torres is sure the English top flight is still the world's greatest league - and is
determined to help Liverpool become its champions once again.
The division has changed beyond recognition since the last time Liverpool were crowned champions in
1990, with the influx of superstar foreigners like Spanish striker Torres placing it in the eyes of
many above any other leagues across the globe.

Who will hang their heads in the second week of La Liga Primera Division football and who will
rejoice down the road of victory. It's still extremely early in the 2009/2010 campaign, but with
all the football ahead let's see who can get a head start on the rest of the league table.
Getafe-Barca
Getafe was fabulous on the road in their first match against Racing Santander scoring more goals
then any other road team with four total, but in week two of the year the schedule just got a lot
tougher.

Well the first week of the Primera Division has wrapped up and now it's time to reflect on the
debut matches of the year. Real Madrid was given the honor of kicking off the 2009 season and
the club did not disappoint in their first match. The club beat Deportivo La Coruna by less then
expected 3-2, but Ronaldo scored his first goal on a penalty and Diarra showed a rare offensive
flair by scoring the winning goal in the second half.

League's Biggest Baby
It is the least coveted award in all of the LLTO Award Ceremony, the League's Biggest Baby.

I am happy to say that we are only one week away from the start of Spain's La Liga Primera

rapidly approaching World Cup.

Well these are the clubs that earned their way to the top next season. It would be a long road
for these clubs, but at the end of the day all three organizations must be pleased with their hard
work and next season will vie for a spot in the top tier of Spanish football.

Tenerife, the third ranked Segunda Division club, secured the last promotion spot by only three

Keeper of the Year
David Cobeno of Rayo Vallecano is our Segunda Division Goalie of the Year. The keeper was
more then reliable for his squad starting an impressive 40 matches and only allowing 35 goals for
the entire season. It would be the most impressive save percentage in the league and the keeper
would be one of the only to start 40 games for the entire season.

So branching out from the usual look at just this weekend's festivities, let's move into some
present weirdnesses and see what the crystal bowl is showing us now about events around the bend
(or off the deep end, as the case may be).
1. The indefinite delay of the Argentine Primera Division's 2009 Clausura season (read that story

Once again it seems like the easiest way to win a Most Disappointing Award is when you are
coming off of a unusually spectacular season. And that was the case for Villareal Club de Futbol
during the 2008/2009 season. The Yellow Submarines were so strong in 2007/2008 that any
performance that was not among the league's best would be considered a mild disappointment at the
least.
