If it wasn't for TV scheduling many of us would be receiving the sad and shocking news of Nigel
Doughty's death at the age of 54 as we left Pride Park or awaited the match reaction from our
radios. But with no game today most of us would have been enjoying a Saturday afternoon with no
football, maybe spending time with family or friends, or just getting odd jobs around the house
done [.
Let's face it, the most realistic way we have of seeing out this weekend without another defeat is
if the weather forecast comes in at the more severe end of the prediction and we get the game
snowed off. Rarely have I been able to muster up less optimism for a trip down Brian Clough Way
despite a largely awful time of it contesting matches at Pride Park [.
Gems of the Lower Leagues: Jacob Butterfield is a post from: Just Football
Just Football's ‘Gems of the Lower Leagues' series continues with a look
at Barnsley midfielder Jacob Butterfield. James McMath looks at why talk of a
January move to the Premier League will surprise some, but not Barnsley fans.
Derby supporting plane stunt organiser at full time today... Nottingham Forest 3 Ipswich Town 2 As
the forlorn little plane with the banner did a couple of circuits of the City Ground pre-match
before heading for a trip over Pride Park to give Derby fans their only cheer of the afternoon, it

In writing this preview, I'm taking a lot of solace in some recent comments made by Christiano
Ronaldo. Why is that, you might ask? Well, if Ronaldo has never heard of Mario Götze, then I'm not
going to feel bad about not knowing anything about Shrewsbury Town. Not one bit. It's really quite
liberating.
Ireland U19 defender Mark O'Brien has signed a four-year deal with Derby County
The 18-year-old Dublin born international has seized his chance in the first team this season,
featuring in all seven Rams games.
O'Brien has started six matches at centre-half, starting in place of the injured Shaun Barker in
five of the club's six Championship matches.

Arsenal Vs Liverpool Saturday 1245 Sky Sports
Arsenal and Liverpool began the season with draws they could have no complaint about. They
have shared the spoils ten times in their last 23 meetings including six of the last eight.
Why Villa must splash the cash in wake of pitiful pre-season defeat to
Derby
I was at Pride Park last night to see Aston Villa crash to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to
Championship Derby as the hosts' keeper barely had a save to make. Villa line-up was admittedly a
largely second string team.
By a nose, Scunthorpe United take this year's Best Fans Award. Last season, the gong went to Pride
Park for Derby's 29,207 average gate, "a freak of nature" according to my co-editor Lanterne Rouge.
The Iron may not have enjoyed the same kind of footfall, but their Keep Scunthorpe Standing
Campaign, championed by the Football Supporters' Federation, attracted interest and support from
across the
Eric Lichaj started for Leeds United in a 2-1 loss to Derby County at Pride Park. Leeds opened the
scoring through Max Gradel in the 58th minute. Derby were level within three minutes and ahead for
good within five, scoring in the 61st and 63rd. Also in the Championship, Eddie Johnson started in
PNE's 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers.
Derby County is keen to take Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala on loan again next season.
The Rams plan to ask Liverpool about the possibility of the Spaniard making a return to Pride Park
in the 2011-12 campaign.
Ayala's current loan runs to the end of the season and he has impressed since he joined Derby in
February.
Brad Guzan got the start in goal for Hull City on Tuesday, beating Derby County 1-0 at Pride Park.
Guzan needed six saves for the shutout, with Anthony Gerrard scoring in the 71st minute. Also in
the Championship, Eddie Johnson got the start and played 58 minutes in Preston North End's 2-2 draw
at Nottingham Forest.
The Manchester derby aside, arguably the most eagerly anticipated fixture of the weekend will
be at Loftus Road where this season's Championship pace-setters QPR welcome in-form Nottingham
Forest. The Reds have rocketed up the table in recent weeks and now have the league leaders and a
place in the Premier League firmly in their sights.
Sticks and stones will break my bones As you may have read, yesterday OTP rather wound up Monsieur
Savage by suggesting that he may be out of touch with some of the working class fans that pay to
watch him at Pride Park. It is time to admit that I, Daniel Storey, then took upon [...]
Following the first win at Pride Park in our history, we are well-placed going into the business
end of the season. So before we get to that point of the season, an evaluation of where we are at,
where we have to go, and how everyone else is looking, is required [...]
Phew. That feels good doesn't it? As the blur of a hangover subsides gradually but fairly gently I
must admit I'm still feeling pretty good, and struggling to unplaster the smile from my face. A
first win for the Reds in Derby since 1994, a first ever at Pride Park and a first double over the
Rams in 21 years [.
Here it is, it's not been that long since we last played them but it's the game we look forward to
and dread in equal measures most. A trip to Derby generally isn't something I'd consider a treat,
but as ever since 1994 no less it's been a trip we've made when we've been in the same leagues with
that ever-growing sense of hope that we might actually notch a win there, our first ever at Pride
Park [.
In the first of an occasional new series on football grounds that never quite came to be,
Ian King takes a look at an ambitious post-war scheme to move Derby County into a then-state of the
art stadium that came to nothing.
In 1997, Derby County left The Baseball Ground, their home of 102 years, for Pride Park.
