As part of our continuing partnership with the guys over at Soccer Pro, from time to time they
send us products to test out and review. This month we received a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor V
cleats to try out, and after three matches of playing in them I must admit that I have only good
things to say about them.

Are you a fan of Frank Lampard? Don't worry, if you choose not to answer in the
affirmative, you surely have some company. While I have written several articles here at
Premiership Talk to demonstrate my support for Frank Lampard, this article is not about
my support.

After what appears to have been a frustrating time in this summer's transfer market, Rafael
Benitez may be forgiven for thinking that his past may be coming back to haunt him.
In August 2004, at the very beginning of his reign at the helm of the Anfield club, Rafa allowed
England's number one striker to leave for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

When Inter Milan and AC Milan came to Boston this weekend, the Italian community and press came
out in full force. Yesterday's article was all about Inter's pre-training visit to the famed and
fashionable Newbury Street in Boston, and from there Jose Mourinho and his squad took a big yellow
bus right on down to Foxborough, the home of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium.

This summer football fans in America got a glimpse of some of the world's top talents and teams
during the World Football Challenge. Chelsea, Club America, AC Milan, and Inter Milan all arrived

Those who saw last night's World Football Challenge clash between Internazionale and ChelseaÂ
must have noticed a solid performance from a rapidly emerging star wearing the blue shirt.
Branislav Ivanovic, who played fullback for 65 minutes of Chelsea's dominant 2-0
victory over the reigning Italian champions seemed to be the player who was more eager than anyone
else to cement his reputation during the high-profile friendly at the Rose Bowl.

Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Carlos Tevez, and Emmanuel
Adebayor! Such is the caliber of each of these players that their involvement in this
summer's transfer market has left no spotlight for the lesser-known talent. Such is the nature of
the market right now that none of the European giants can be bothered with a move for the hidden
gems.

If there is one team that is secretly thriving in a summer of high-profile transfers, it is
Birmingham City. As mentioned by my fellow Premiership Talk writer, Brian Lofrumento, the newly
promoted outfit is reportedly pursuing former Arsenal captain Patrick Viera, which is in addition
to a handful of other acquisitions made recently.

Despite a composed 1-0 win for the LA Galaxy at home to the New England Revolution this weekend,
soccer fans around the world (or at least in the US) are still in shock over the rift between two
Galaxy stars who missed this weekend's game. While superstar David Beckham is yet to return to the
Galaxy this season, his estranged teammate Landon Donovan was rested following a busy period
representing his country.

Plenty of transfers are floating about this summer, but almost all of them revolve around
familiar faces. Premiership Talk takes a look at this summer's hottest targets.
David Villa
Real Madrid have already clinched the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, and David Villa
appears to be next on the list.

Football is a funny game - this is the sport where anything, and I mean
anything, can happen completely out of the blue. For example, no one ever imagined
that Brazilian star Ronaldinho, who was literally unstoppable not too long ago, would suddenly
become as anonymous as he is nowadays.

Another season of the Premier League is now in the books, and Premiership Talk today celebrates
its first birthday! On June 7, 2008, Premiership Talk was founded, and a year later the site stands
lightyears ahead of its basic roots...although we're still talking about the same things today that
we were a year ago (the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga was the very first post on Premiership
Talk).

As part of our continuing partnership with SoccerPro, Premiership Talk brings you two more product
reviews. This time, we are comparing the Nike Mercurial Veer ball to Adidas's UEFA Euro 2008 Glider

Here at Premiership Talk we received three soccer balls to test out from SoccerPro. The first
soccer ball that we tested out was the ever popular Nike T90 Strike. Right from the second I pumped
the ball up I could tell it is a quality ball. The material on the outside of the ball is extremely
durable, and very padded.

When I received an email from SoccerPro offering to let Premiership Talk review products for free,
I immediately jumped at the offer. One of the first products that I received and used was an Umbro
Beanie cap (pictured). Being from the Boston area, and being a football (soccer) player myself, I
was glad that I'd have something to keep my head warm in my next match.
