You should never get ahead of yourself in football. Sing the praises of a team too early, and
they can fade away and make you seem foolish (see the pundits handing Chelsea the title after five
games of last season).
January will soon be with us and while the striking situation at White Hart Lane doesn't seem
quite so desperate as it did last season, it still seems likely that Spurs will be entering into
the market at some stage for reinforcements.
Despite Pav's wonder strike against his compatriots from Rubin Kazan last week, he has had a
lacklustre start to the season and could well move on this winter.
The theme for the rumour mills this week concerns the possibility of young footballing talent
moving to Spurs and the latest name in the hat is that of Max Clayton, a young striker who had
scouts from no less than 17 Premiership sides watch him score the winner for Crewe in the week.
Crewe boss Dario Gradi has a long history of bringing through young quality players and he had
high hopes for Clayton after the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Macclesfield.
The third round of Carling Cup continues on Wednesday night and some memorable moments occurred
on the day especially for Manchester City fans as they witnessed the return of injury plagued Owen
Hargreaves, who made a memorable comeback with a special goal.
The ex Manchester United player's goal helped his team to beat the Cup's defending Champion,
Birmingham City, a result which was followed by other top premiership sides, Liverpool and Chelsea,
who were victorious as well.

Despite the urged from many people in acquiring an experienced and established star for his
team, Arsene Wenger, still consistent with his youth policy especially with the arrival of another
young talents, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The 17-years-old England under 21 international, cost Arsenal around 12 million pound plus 3
million bonuses, although it's pretty steep number for a pretty unexperienced youngster, Wenger
seems delighted with the purchase and confident over Oxlade-Chamberlain's future with the
Gunners.
Well that's what The Mirror believe with their article that has appeared in the paper and online
this morning.
The article believes that due to Stoke's physical approach to the game, Drogba will be given the
nod and Torres will be a substitute. Now as usual we have to remember this is the British press we
are talking about here.
Liverpool is the latest club to join the race to sign Irish and Manchester United defender, John
O'Shea.
The Waterford man is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and will leave the club this
summer.
It had originally been expected that he would join Sunderland, but the player has held out for the
best deal available and is now being chased by five clubs.
Oddly, the losing fans probably had more fun at Old Trafford than Manchester United's
multi-national supporters.
Crawley Town gave an audacious account for themselves, losing 1-0 but leaving the Theater of Dreams
with their pride, a million quid, and a distinct moral advantage over the Premier League giants
intact.
MOSCOW, Russia — Former Dutch international skipper Ruud Gullit was appointed on Tuesday coach of
Russian Premier League club Terek Grozny, local media reported. The 48-year-old has previously
coached English Premiership sides Chelsea and Newcastle United along with Dutch giants Feyenoord
and MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy.
In November 2007, after England failed to qualify for Euro 2008, The Daily Mail did a
quick scout of the country to highlight the players pushing for internation stardom in the future
entitled 60 reasons why the future of English football is not as gloomy as you might think...ITS
investigates.

Every January, as the third round of the FA Cup begins in England, the question is never whether
there will be upsets, but rather how big they'll be. Saturday's was one of the biggest in recent
memory.
Tiny Stevenage, which only became part of the Football League this season, and currently sits
15th in the League Two table, not only out-shot and out-possessed its Premier League opponents, it
out-played them.
The oldest club competition in football was here again, The F.A Cup was back, some say the
passion/magic has been lost from Cup, and that the big Premiership sides do not take it seriously
but todays game showed otherwise. Our featured player Nicklas Bendtner started in a right wing
position, where he played some of last season, It's not his favourite position but he is capable of
playing their with his direct dribbling and link up play.
I hope everyone had a great new year, but now their is work to be done and New Year's
Resolutions to be kept especially for Premiership sides and footballers...
10. Come to the realisation that you are not a ‘gangsta', far from it, you are a footballer
Visually we have You're boy, Ferdinand and Nigel Reo Cooker to prove my point.
