Several Premier League clubs announced today changes to their January fixtures so matches can be
moved to TV timeslots. As a result, we can infer which matches will be shown on the US soccer TV
networks.
January's highlights include:
- Arsenal v Manchester United, Sunday, January 31, 11am ET, Fox Soccer Channel
- Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur, Sunday, January 10, 11am ET, Fox Soccer Channel
- Birmingham v Man United, Saturday, January 9, 12;30pm ET, Fox Soccer Channel
- Hull v Chelsea, Saturday, January 9, 7:45am ET, ESPN2

The Nielsen Ratings are in for ESPN2's biggest match of the season thus far featuring the north
London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Approximately 325,187 viewers watched the game in the United States which represents the third
highest viewing figures for ESPN2's coverage of the 2009-2010 Premier League season thus far.

numbered.
Adam Pearson returned to the club two years after his departure, replacing Paul Duffen, who saw the
club join the Premier League under his tenure but also accrue alarming levels of debt at the same
time.

It appears very likely that some or all of the FA Cup matches will be shown on Sky Sports
television in the United Kingdom this season. Setanta Sports UK had the rights to the FA Cup last
season until they closed its doors this past summer.

Fox Soccer Channel and the Premier League today announced that Fox Sports International has won
the bidding for the rights to show the Premier League on US television for the 2010-2013 seasons.
Fox has also won the similar rights for Central and South America to its associated company, Fox
Sports Latin America.

The Nielsen Ratings for ESPN2's most recent Premier League match have been released. For the
October 3rd game between Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, the network achieved a 0.2 rating
with an audience of approximately 265,508 viewers.
The Bolton against Spurs game garnered the fifth highest Premier League TV ratings for
ESPN2.

Yesterday, the Premier League announced which December matches have had their kickoff times
rescheduled so they can be shown on television worldwide. Even though Fox Soccer Channel, Setanta
Sports and ESPN haven't announced which games they'll show for that month, I've been able to deduce
which games will be shown on US television by matching up the network's schedules with when the
games are shown.

So much of the focus for the opening of the 2009/2010 season of football has been on the Premier
League that it's about time we pay respect and focus on how ESPN's TV ratings are doing for its
coverage of La Liga.

Now that the Premier League has launched on ESPN and La Liga TV coverage will debut on September
13, 2009, ESPN are beginning to promote upcoming games on its network with high-energy TV
commercials. The first one featuring football supporters singing the "Seven Nation Army" theme by
the White Stripes has been playing on the ESPN networks all week and is now available on
YouTube.

television suddenly got very confusing in the past week with the addition of ESPN2 to the Premier
League TV rights package, as well as the glittering array of Champions League matches being shown

their Trinidad and Tobago passports after playing for England at the U-21 level. Both will be
called into the full national side for this week's critical World Cup qualifer versus El

ESPN has acquired the TV rights to two of the weekly Premier League slots on US television for
the 2009-2010 season. Beginning on August 15, 2009, each week ESPN will feature the 7:45am ET
Saturday game and the 3pm ET Monday game.
Those two weekly timeslots were previously held by Setanta Sports who in the past had
sub-licensed those games from Fox Soccer Channel.

You've heard by now that ESPN has won the yardsale/auction of Setanta's Premier League TV rights in
the UK. For those in the dark, Setanta UK couldn't afford to make the payments they'd promised to
the Premier League (basically, they didn't have enough subscribers) and so were stripped of the
rights.

The English Football Association (FA) has released a statement regarding Setanta UK going into
administration.
"The FA will now consider options to find the best platform to broadcast those fixtures
contracted to Setanta," said FA Chief Executive Ian Watmore. "These include England home friendly
matches, FA Cup ties, England U21 games and the FA Community Shield.

Breaking news. Setanta UK has gone into administration this morning after failing to make
payments to the Premier League and losing the Premier League TV rights in the UK for the 2009-2013
seasons.
The administrator Deloitte said that it would shortly cease broadcasting to customers in Great
Britain but would continue to operate elsewhere.

It's a simple question, yet the question does not have a simple answer.For anyone who has lived

network Setanta Sports lost one half of its Barclays Premier League TV contract. We quickly saw
everyone question if Setanta Sports was going to be a viable network going forward with only one

The past several months have been a game of cat and mouse for Fox and ESPN. This year has
already seen Fox beat ESPN to the UEFA Champions League TV rights in the United States, Central
America and South America. Now, ESPN along with SBS have acquired the TV rights in Australia to the
Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup
According to The Australian, it's not known whether Fox tendered a bid for the Australian
rights.

After announcing that GolTV has renewed its TV rights to the Bundesliga for the next three
seasons, a GolTV executive has revealed that the US TV broadcaster is also interested in the TV
and/or Internet rights to the Premier League which are up for renewal in the next 30 days for the
2010-2013 seasons.
