United still reeling from their FA Cup exit to the Red's last month 2-1 at Anfield, however United

All eyes will be on Old Trafford this weekend when arch rivals Man United and Liverpool face off
in what promises to be a fiery encounter (12.
It will be a hostile atmosphere when United take on arch rivals Liverpool this weekend, and Sir
Alex's side are slightly odds-on at 1.91 with Paddy Power to come out on top in what promises to be
a real hard fought battle.
The game sees Patrice Evra come face to face with Luis Suarez for the first time since the
Liverpool striker was banned for eight games after racially abusing the United defender and the
role of referee Phil Dowd will be crucial.

during this summer's Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
A dramatic sequence of events led to Chelsea skipper John Terry losing the Lions armband last
Friday, which was followed by the resignation of manager Fabio Capello, who was upset at not being
consulted by the FA over the captaincy row.
The English Premier League is widely regarded as the most exciting League across the globe but
in many cases, big games between the top clubs turn out to be dull affairs with both teams
canceling each other out, but today, at Stamford Bridge, Man Utd and Chelsea provided one of the
truly memorable classic games that ended in a pulsating 3-3 draw.
In September, I wrote how Fox Sports choice to show Barclay's Premier League games on tape delay
was a brilliant idea. Two weekends ago, Fox took it the next level by showing Manchester United vs.
Arsenal live as a lead into the NFL Conference Championship Games. Sure the rating where not great.
According to ESPN, the match was seen by 1.
It's the 31st January and at 2300 UK Time tonight, the transfer window closes for yet another
season and I for one will be glued to Jim White on SkySports News waiting for news on any
developments at Chelsea.
Remember this time last year? David Luiz and Fernando Torres were both signed in deals of around
£75m but I can't see Chelsea spending that amount of money again can you?
Both Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse should be arriving back in Newcastle today after Senegal were
eliminated from the African Cup of Nations. Alan Pardew - we need to do better at Blackburn But
both players will find that Newcastle only have Premier League games left to play this season,
after sadly being eliminated 1-0 from the FA Cup at Brighton [.
Liverpool have today again been linked to Napoli's star striker Edinson Cavani. The £40
million rated striker could be seen as the ideal partner for Luis Suarez, who would surely be able
to persuade the fellow Uraguian striker to join him at Liverpool.
What a partnership Suarez and Cavani would be and his arrival would put extra pressure on Andy
Carroll to perform if he wants to see much game time.

Prior to victory over Man City the other night, Liverpool had been in a poor run of form, slumping
to seventh place in the league after managing only one win in six Premier League games. After such
a huge financial outlay on underperforming players, it was inevitable that questions would start to
be asked about Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish's position, but Anfield legend Steve Nicol believes
For the first time since he returned to Anfield a year ago, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is
under genuine pressure. After one win in the last six premier league games, the club is languishing
in seventh place, and the level of performance has arguably plummeted to a concerning low. The heat
is most definitely on, and some Liverpool fans are even calling for Dalglish's head.

Those who woke up early on Sunday morning were treated to one of the best Premier League games
of the season.
Manchester City used a last-minute penalty from Mario Balotelli to beat Tottenham 3-2 and go six
points clear at the top of the table.
Liverpool travel to Bolton on Saturday evening well aware anything less than three points at the
Reebok Stadium will cast serious doubts over their already flagging top-four ambitions.
A seventh Premier League draw of the season at Anfield in last weekend's dire stalemate against
Stoke has left the 18-time champions of England five points adrift of fourth place.

Fox Soccer has been promoting this Sunday Premier League games as "Epic Sunday,'' for once this is
not over hype. The doubleheader of Manchester City vs. Spurs and Manchester United vs. Arsenal will
go a long way toward telling us who will be lifting the trophy in May.
A City win in the early game and a Arsenal win in the late game could all but end the title race.

"You want me to wear a what now?"
The jokes kind of write themselves here, but Manchester City have announced that bench-bound
midfielder Owen Hargreaves is to have a camera strapped to him 'Sub Cam' as they've called it
during their next few home Premier League games, with the pitchside footage then broadcast live on
the club's official Youtube channel, with edited highlights available on the following Monday.
Josh McEachran has signed for Swansea on loan until the end of the season in what appears to be a
cracking move for all parties concerned.
We all know the situation with getting first team football here at Chelsea and with Raul Meireles,
Lampard and Ramires playing well and Michael Essien back, it's harder than ever for Josh to break
into the side these days.
Liverpool duo Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique believe they need to improve their home form if they
are to have any chance of finishing in the top four.
The Reds were held to their seventh draw in 11 games at Anfield this season as Stoke ground out a
goalless draw at the weekend.
Kenny Dalglish's men have struggled for goals this season, having netted only 24 goals in 21
Premier League games and Carroll, who started the draw with Stoke on the bench, believes they need
to start taking their chances if they are to turn draws into victories.
Manchester City travel to the DW Stadium tonight where they will hope to take all three points
against Wigan, however with City only picking up two points out their last twelve on offer, nothing
is guaranteed.

Grobbelaar.
Liverpool struggled to hit the net again this weekend with a 0-0 draw at home to Stoke and have
scored just eight goals in their last nine Premier League games. With Luis Suarez suspended for

THFC1882 presents another guest writer. This time it's a guy I've known on
Twitter for a while and he's always got something to say on our beloved Tottenham Hotspur. It gives
me great pleasure to present Kenny Palmer with a preview of this weekend's game:
Wednesday's victory over Everton in the postponed game in hand from the start of the season has
left Spurs level on points with Manchester United and 3 off leaders Manchester City.
Not a surprise that the FA has turned down Vincent Kompany's appeal for the straight red card
that he picked up in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
The Man City captain will now miss City's next four games (its four games and not three as this
is his second red card of the season).
Kompany, who has arguably City's best player over the last two seasons, will miss tomorrow
night's Carling Cup semi-final first-leg with Liverpool.

Just a quickie to let y'all good people know that Vincent Kompany will indeed have to serve a
four-match ban after the FA threw out Manchester City's appeal this afternoon because Wayne Rooney
wafted an imaginary gavel at them* during the hearing.
Man City's Vincent Kompany has lost his appeal against a four match ban for his sending off against
Man Utd on Sunday in the FA Cup.
The influential defender will now miss the Carling Cup game against Liverpool on Wednesday evening
as well as two Premier League games and the 2nd leg at Anfield.
Google and Apple may not exactly be the first names that spring to mind when looking for
alternatives to challenge Sky's dominance of sports broadcasting in Britain, but it should be no
surprise that two of the giants of the tech and online world are eyeing up sport as a way to lure
consumers into their new offerings.

Headlines in England following the draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup will be centered on
the Liverpool vs. Manchester United battle and a possible QPR vs. Chelsea meeting, as rematches of
racism-marred Premier League games take center stage. For American fans, though, there's a much
more tasty fixture to be found.
Mark Hughes is the big favourite in the football betting to take over at Queens Park Rangers after
Neil Warnock was sacked on Sunday.
Warnock was relieved of his duties after a run of eight Premier League games without a win. He
leaves with QPR sat 17th in the table.
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes said: "Sadly, our recent run of poor form has seen us slip alarmingly
down the table and the board felt it was the right time to make a change.
Newcastle's next game is against QPR next Sunday, in an early kick off game and they sacked
their manager Neil Warnock yesterday, along with Assistant Manager Mick Jones and first-team
coach Keith Curle. Neil Warnock - sacked yesterday as QPR manager That's not really surprising as
in their last 11 Premier League games they won just one while losing 8, and [.
With the last two teams to defeat Manchester United coming together at St. James's Park in the
FA Cup third round, this could be a more entertaining game than many are predicting. With Demba Ba
and Cheick Tiote not being able to play for Newcastle Until the 26th of February, those two spots
are now up for grabs.
3pm ET, not live on TV anywhere in the world. The whole world, apparently. So there probably won't
be streams and there probably won't be an OYB match review either. Yes, this sucks. I'm sorry.
Last four head-to-head:
3-0 Liverpool (a) 01.15.94
2-1 Liverpool (h) 10.16.93
2-3 Oldham (a) 05.
United are a top priced 1.75 with Paddy Power to bounce back from their humiliating defeat at
the hands of Blackburn and beat Newcastle at St James' tonight, and everything suggest they will do
just that.
New Year's Eve turned into a 70th birthday nightmare for Sir Alex when Steve Kean's men pulled off
the unthinkable, but if the past is anything to go by he will have read the riot act to the players
and they will respond with a victory.
Following Liverpool's decision not to appeal Luis Suarez's 8 match-ban earlier today, I did a check
on which games the Uraguyan forward will miss and 7 of them occur during January in which we face a
hectic schedule of fixtures.
We play 5 Premier League games, the Carling Cup semi-final legs and an FA Cup game versus Oldham
Athletic on Friday.
Everton - Bolton 3pm - Fox Soccer Plus With Stuart Holden continuing his journey to full fitness,
what would have been a battle of National Teamers becomes an opportunity to see Landon Donovan
makes his debut on loan from Los Angeles. Hopefully, it's available on a cable system near you.
Everton are in 10th-place, with Tim Howard recording four shutouts in 18 Premier League games this
season.
Despite pronounced support of Luis Suarez in the aftermath of his being found guilty of racially
abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra, Liverpool will not be appealing the eight-game ban the
Uruguayan striker received, the FA announced on Tuesday.
Had Suarez appealed the decision, he could have received a lesser ban, but he also would have
been subjected to an increased punishment if the FA had seen it fit to do so.
Manchester United to end 2011 top of the table - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The New Year weekend will most likely see Manchester United end 2011 at the top of the table
(albeit having played a game more than City), although City will be away to Sunderland on Sunday
and it should be business as usual at the top of the table for them come Monday morning.
United have enjoyed a terrific festive period and they are not surprisingly long odds-on at 1.14
to beat Premiership whipping boys Blackburn Rovers.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side come into this having registered back-to-back 5-0 wins over Fulham and
Wigan and it would come as no surprise to see them register a similar wide margin victory in this
clash.
