I don't get excited about many Premier League fixtures but the Black Country derby certainly
gets my heart racing. It's even more special when it takes place in the Premier League – todays
match only the fourth in Premier League history.
So as Wolves slumped to what turned out to be an embarrassing defeat my major interest in
Premier League football for this season ends in disappointment as West Brom triumphed for their
eighth time to Wolves three wins since I first went to Molineux in 1999.
Park Chu-Young is a proven goal scorer. However, he needs a hell of a long leg to score from the
bench, which is where he's been wasting away all season long for Arsenal. Chu-Young is getting fed
up of watching games instead of participating in them and according to his agent he's ready to
leave Emirates Stadium in the summer.
This is veeeeeery interesting:
This paper evaluates the extent to which the performance of English Premier League football club
managers can be attributed to skill or luck when measured separately from the characteristics of
the team. We first use a specification that models managerial skill as a fixed effect and we
examine the relationship between the number of points earned in league matches and the club's wage
bill, transfer spending, and the extent to which they were hit by absent players through injuries,
suspensions or unavailability.
Being forced to sell his captain during the January and consequently losing matches heavily did for
Simon Grayson. While OTP feels slightly sorry for the recently sacked Grayson, we won't be dwelling
on his departure for too long because there are some exciting prospects in contention to be the new
boss at Elland [.
Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks tasted Premier League football last season with the Tangerines and
now the shotstopper is looking for his side to make a swift return to the top flight.
The Seasiders sit just one point off the play-off places in the Championship table in seventh spot,
in what has once again been a very competitive league this term with any side capable of getting a
result in any game.
The managerial merry-go-round is one of the unpleasant facets of Premier League football. Too
often, the board members of clubs are quick to sack a manager due to a string of poor results or
because of outside pressure. The objective ...

Premier League football will be available to view on free-to-air TV for the first time in its 20
year history. ESPN are set to show Manchester City v Fulham on February 4th as part of their free
weekend pass.
Championship side Leeds United have accepted a bid from Norwich City for their club captain Jonny
Howson.
The midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer, is a product of the Leeds academy and has
made 225 for the club. The Leeds skipper is currently on the sidelines through injury, but it is
thought he will open contract talks with the Canaries this week.
2.7 million players play Fantasy Premier League football. 6% of them own Leighton Baines. That's
about 162,000 frustrated owners this evening after Everton (again) failed to keep a clean sheet at
home against inferior opposition drawing 1-1 with Blackburn ... Continue reading →

After last weeks trip to the land of Satan that is a "premier league" football ground, I need to
cleanse my soul as it were and get back to watching the grass roots form of the game.
I appealed because I obviously completely disagreed with the interpretation of the officials on
the day but that happens in football and we move on. I wonder though if we are now going to see an
unprecedented wave of red cards on match days because we sanction "if's" and "maybe's"? Are we
going to look back at video evidence for every single challenge that goes unnoticed by the
officials, look at different scenarios and potential outcomes of what could have been considered a
good tackle and then sanction it?
We all know that Premier League football is far more than the 90 minutes our favorite team plays
each weekend. Throughout the week there's plenty of programming, on television, the Internet and
radio, to keep us informed and entertained about ...

interview, Newcastle's manager says "there are certain balls you can't defend against Andy Carroll,
because if the delivery is right and he gets at them in a certain angle there's nothing you can
do.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has backed Andy Carroll to eventually live up to his record-breaking
price tag.
Pardew reluctantly sold the 22-year-old to the Reds, who host the Magpies on Friday evening, on the
final day of the last January transfer window when owner Mike Ashley decided a bid of £35million
was simply too good to refuse.
Liverpool have been terribly unlucky this season in front of goal. This fact all Liverpool fans
know. 17 shots against the woodwork and four saved penalties testify to the Reds' dominant and yet
strange lack of goals. Also Luis Suarez is the Premiership striker with the most number of
attempted shots to goal (75) but only scored five goals.
We all knew that an announcement was coming and, somehow or other, the decision reached would
have been surprising, no matter what it was - a reflection, perhaps, of the fact that this
particular story should have twisted and turned in the way that it has since it first became
apparent that something happened at Loftus Road during his team's match against Queens
Park Rangers, two months ago.
England captian John Terry has been charged with racially aggravated public order offence. His
court date is set for Feb 1.
In a statemet, Alison Saunders, Chief Crown Prosecutor for London, said:
"I have today advised the Metropolitan Police Service that John Terry should be prosecuted for a
racially aggravated public order offence following comments allegedly made during a Premier League
football match between Queen's Park Rangers and Chelsea on 23 October 2011.

Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey feels sorry for his team-mates who have suffered injury or
suspension, but he is ready to step up as a replacement.
The £1.7million signing from Charlton in May 2010 was at the beginning of December recalled from a
loan at Blackpool by boss Kenny Dalglish after Lucas Leiva's season was ended by knee surgery.
Not too bad a game at the Bridge today. Good fare I say.
Bench? Please.
Yeah, that was fucking awesome. Anyone else in need of a new set of vocal chords after that
final 30 or so minutes? I sound like Emma Stone right now, and that's not sweet. Not at all.
Yesterday hadn't, if we are completely honest, been Chris Foy's greatest afternoon as a Premier
League referee. His performance during the match between Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur left a
little to be desired and will have left those in North London of a blue and white persuasion rather
scratching their heads.
It is reported today that Mick McCarthy has his eye on two Arsenal youngsters to boost his
side's campaign this term. A campaign which despite a good result recently, is still a fight to
avoid relegation.
The win against effectively a managerless Sunderland side at the weekend put daylight between
the old gold and black and the bottom three.

The 0-6 Predicament: A Thing Of Pure Beauty - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The supporters of Wigan, Blackburn or West Bromwich Albion understand the searing pangs of
incompetency that they face at least 10 times a year, when their sides are drawn against the
remodelled top 5. Away at Man City for a team like Wolves can give serious impetus for such a fan
to abandon their halfway tickets and choose the theatre with the missus.
More Premier League football should be on TV
More Premier League football games should be broadcast live as it would boost club funds,

The international break heralds a mini 'silly season' as Newcastle United are reported to be

Raise your hand if you thought Newcastle would be unbeaten heading into November in the Premier
League. No one, including Newcastle's own players thought they would be doing so well after the
first ten games of the season. Newcastle is one of only two unbeaten teams in the league and they
trail second place Manchester United by just one point and first place Manchester City by only
six.
Liverpool boast a massive global fanbase. Their pre-season tours to the likes of Thailand and

Arsenal seem to pick up more injuries than a team at the Geriatric Twister World Championships.
Currently tucked up in their sick-beds are Thomas Vermaelen, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby and Bacary
Sagna amongst others. However, in order to make more room for the Gunners' sick and infirm, the
club have extended their medical facilities.

Thank god the break for the internationals is over and we have our Premier League football back!.
Boring isn't it when you have to wait for two weeks for Chelsea's next game, especially after we
gave our performance of the season away at Bolton in our last game!.
So with that in mind and with a very difficult game ahead of us on Saturday I just wondered who
would AVB decide to start with on Saturday?
One story that has come about lately is the situation with the Overseas TV rights to show Premier
League football. Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre has raised an issue with how the money from
the deals is divided and is pushing for debate to happen that could see a huge shake up in our
game.
