Here is my thinking:
1. Harry is battered and bruised after the court case, just look at the interview this morning
outside his home in Dorset. Think all the media pressure and the cushy job at Spuds, no doubt a
massive pay rise and more money for players to come from Levy will mean... thanks but no
thanks.
It's time for a quick roundup of the action from the Argentine foreign legion in Italy, Spain,
Mexico and Portugal, as Lionel Messi found the net after four games without a goal, Chelo Delgado
scored a fine goal in Mexico, ... Continue reading →

U.S. Under-23 national team defender Gale Agbossoumonde is set to finalize a loan move to the
NASL's Carolina RailHawks today, sources told SBI.
The 20-year-old Agbossoumonde has been on a constant quest for consistent playing time for the
better part of the last three years, having stints with Sporting Braga in Portugal, Djurgardens IF
in Sweden and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany yield few first-team minutes.
Benfica 21 year old striker Nelson Oliveira could be moved out on loan as the Eagles are said to be
offering his services to French clubs Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne. The Portuguese U21 year old
international is not currently getting much playing time at the Luz and with the signing of Djalo
will have even less first team action.
Teenagers. Being the walking volcanoes of untameable hormones and angst that they are, naturally,
they are highly unpredictable. Put 22 of them on a pitch, give them a ball, some fans, and a
referee crew? The humanity! Aston Villa took on Marseille Wednesday night as hosts, champions of
Group 3, and owners of the second-best defensive record in the inaugural NextGen Series.
Benfica have come to terms with former Sporting striker Yannick Djalo on a 4 and a half year
contract today. Djalo who has been a free agent since his transfer to Nice by Sporting was
declared to be invalid due to the transfer window being closed has not seen any action since
August 2011. The 25 year old Djalo appeared in 98 games for Sporting, finding the twine 23 times.
Benfica have loaned out midfielder/right back Ruben Amorim to Braga for the next year and a half.
Amorim who had a falling out with Benfica coach Jorge Jesus, recently signed a contract extension
with the club until 2013 but the club felt it was in their best interest to loan Amorim to Braga
never the less.

Yes, that is Oguchi Onyewu's nickname with Sporting CP fans and the local media - even though he

Bloated Premier League squads need ballast and amid the burnt ends of Match of the Day episodes,
the fleeting few minutes of highlights from the KC, Molineux or DW Stadiums have been notable for
their late cameos from players unfamiliar – your Henrik Pedersens, Okelsandr Yevtushoks and
Itzhak Zohars – the men you feel yourself reaching for the Rothman's successor volume to run the
rule over, or, laptop on knees, Wikipedia.
Alternate title: "Welcome to the guns show" translated into Portuguese. Before they'd even hit the
half hour, Sporting CP defender Oguchi Onyewu had notched one yellow card and two goals.Visual

Former Sporting player Yannick Djalo is now linked with a move to Benfica and it is being reported
that Benfica have offered the striker a contract until 2015. Djalo has not played a game since
August do to circumstances involving his transfer from Sporting to Nice. Sampordia and Parma are
also said to be interested.
Now don't get me wrong here, I am referring to his style of management. Let me elaborate for you.
AVB has given an honest and frank interview to UEFA's
The Technician and has opened up about
some problems he is faced with here as Chelsea's manager and in his short career in Portugal.
In the interview, he explains some dilemma's he is faced with but also refers to HIS management
style and reveals that because of his age and playing experience, he could never be a Manager
classed as a Dictator.
Sporting have lost midfielder Stijn Schaars for up to three weeks after the player suffered a left
thigh injury, while on another front striker Bojinov looks to be headed out of Sporting on loan
with possible destinations being Lecce, Dynamo Kiev or Trabzonspor at this time.

Suddenly, there was this transfer at the end of Summer: Ricky van Wolfswinkel to Sporting. Not
Ajax. Not Feyenoord. But Portugal. Of all places.
People ( also on this blog) said: that is not a smart move.... But six months later, Ricky
scored prolifically, has been named player of the month [read more]
Benfica's Bruno Cesar and Jardel were involved in a car accident in Portugal around 9pm on the
20th, both players were unharmed and were passengers in a car driven by a friend. Jorge Jesus was
glad that both players were not hurt and revealed that he has also been in a few accidents this
season the latest being on Christmas Eve.
Real Madrid defender Pepe has given a distinctly half-arsed apology to Barcelona's Lionel Messi for
blatantly stamping on his hand during Wednesday night's El Clasico. The Portugal international
said: "I wish to say yesterday's incident with Leo Messi was unintentional, but I nevertheless want
to apologise to him if he was offended because all I [.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is infamous for exposing his players to
'hairdryer'-like rants on the training ground or the locker room.
It's referred to as a 'hairdryer' when Ferguson shouts at his players, because he is yelling so
loud and hard that it pushes the player's hair back like someone blow-drying their hair.
Pep'll make a Mess of your hand An El Clasico just isn't an El Clasico without Pepe proving that
he's a nasty bar steward. During last night's Copa Del Rey clash, the Real Madrid man stayed true

It's being reported today that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Sporting Lisbon for their young
midfield starlet Joao Carlos Teixeira, in a deal believed to be worth £1million.
Young Teixeira has impressed while playing in the NextGen series, scoring against Liverpool in
the process.
While he hadn't made a first team appearance yet for Sporting, he is highly rated in Portugal
and has already been compared to Deco.

After months of stagnating, the U.S. men's national team is back on the rise in the FIFA
rankings, although barely.
The United States improved one spot to No. 33 in the latest rankings after having spent the last
three months at the No.
Week 15 saw Benfica maintain their two point lead over Porto as the season hit the midway point.
Benfica earned a convincing 4-1 win over Setubal while Porto stayed pace with a 2-0 win over Rio
Ave. In what amounted to the game of the week, Braga defeated Sporting 2-1 to move into sole spot
of third place in the Portuguese league as Sporting drop to fourth.

Every now and then a player emerges who is capable of dividing the sports fans into two camps:
lovers and haters. At the European Cup of 2000 in Holland/Belgium, the Feyenoord skipper

The 2011 year in now behind us and as we now move forward in 2012, we take a look at ten things
that should happen for all Portuguese fans this year. 1- Cristiano Ronaldo will win the La Liga
Golden Boot 2- Portugal will reach the semi-finals of Euro 2012 3- Porto's Hulk & Benfica's Gaitan
will be sold in the summer 4- Benfica will reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League 5- FC
We're on the wait for a goal clip (that may or may not arrive today) as Tony Taylor potted a
penalty near halftime of Atlético CP's 2-2 draw with Freamunde. The American had his side up two
and looking like reclaiming first place, but a late red card and two later leaked goals forced a
share.- Greg Seltzer
This should have been up the other day, my bad. Don't fault Jacob...At this stage in the
competition you would have every reason to believe that some dead rubbers would be played. Yet the
"Look at Me!" nature of international youth soccer forbids such a thing. For instance, Celtic
welcomed Marseille to Celtic Park with nothing tangible to play for.
