Footy Factor 18 November @ 09:02 PM EST

Something fishy is going on at Stamford BridgeChelsea's marquee signing of the summer – 18-million-pound-man Yuri Zhirkov -  has yet to play a league game for the club and has played less than a combined 90 minutes for them in all competitions. Ever since his big money move from CSKA Moscow in July, the Russian winger and fullback has been trying to shake off a mysterious rash of injuries that have even baffled club doctors.

They must fall. And so four games in, the Champions League contenders and pretenders have been separated fallen into place for the group stage which, a few spots aside, could've been drawn up in August by a blind chimp and his serf, a man who tans. Champions League afterthoughts.

A Chelsea Fans Blog for Chelsea Fans 05 November @ 09:53 AM EST
I have to say maybe I was slightly harsh on the boys after the Atletico game the other night as we are sitting pretty at the top of our group with two games to play.
Let's face it there are a number of big european sides that are all but comfortable at the moment and will be giving their all to make sure of qualification for the last 16. Click to continue reading...

Man United Defender Out For Eight Weeks

Man United Devils 02 November @ 04:48 AM EST
The News Of The World have had a statement from a Man United ‘insider', who claims that defender Rio Ferdinand could be out for up to eight weeks. Ferdinand has struggled with a back injury ever since last season's Champion's League game against Porto.
It has been obvious that there is something wrong with Ferdinand; he hasn't quite been himself and if that is down to an injury then hopefully that can be sorted. Click to continue reading...

Abordagem muito correcta deste assunto feita ontem no DN, pela escrita de Céu Neves. Só é pena que alguns dos nossos políticos só se lembrem disso quando pretendem tirar partido pessoal ou partidário da situação. Sugiro a leitura integral do artigo.

Maybe its time

Only Time Will Tell 30 October @ 12:38 PM EST
With Rangers getting closer and closer to almost becoming Leeds United, maybe its time for both Celtic and Rangers to run away from the Scottish Premier League and head for greener pastures. Rangers 's club's bankers Lloyds are owed £30million by the end of the campaign. With a TV contract that is nothing to celebrate the only way that they maybe be able to meet the payment is to sell half of the first team. Click to continue reading...

Cissokho Dreams Of England

Anfield Talk 24 October @ 11:01 AM EST
Highly-rated Lyon full-back Aly Cissokho has conceded he would one day love to play for either Manchester United or Liverpool.
The talented 21-year-old only moved to France in the summer from Porto after a switch to AC Milan was scuppered by a problem with his medical.
Cissokho has quickly acclimatized to life in Ligue 1 having not let his hefty €15million (£13million) price tag weigh on his mind. Click to continue reading...

Group D Preview (Oct. 21)

Joga Bonito Mundo 21 October @ 12:52 PM EST

Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid:

Chelsea will look to bounce back from their second loss of their domestic campaign. The Blues lost to Aston Villa at the weekend because of two lapses on set pieces but Ballack says that they are looking to eradicate those mistakes.

"John's (Terry) reaction on the pitch showed that he takes a big responsibility not just for himself but for the team," said Ballack.

Battered and bruised, the UEFA Champions League Prediction Contest Rolls On

Fighting Talker 20 October @ 07:54 PM EST
Oy. Unless your name is Aaron and you are the co-writer of this blog, yesterday was the ugliest day yet in the contest, as the five participants combined for just 57 points - 26 of those coming from Aaron, who nailed two games perfectly.
They say the best thing after a bad performance is to come right back out and try it again, and the Champions League gives us that opportunity on Wednesday with eight more matches from Groups A-D. Click to continue reading...

Next up Alkmaar- Preview- It has to be Rambo’s time & You Remember Koeman right?

Gunners Today 20 October @ 03:00 AM EST

Two wins from two games so far in the Champions League. Given our excellent form, the third one looks likely tomorrow against Alkmaar. They might be the Champions of Holland but they just lost at the weekend and are 6th in the table. The Dutch League isn't as strong as it was a decade ago.Â

Now most of you know that Walcott won't be playing tomorrow.

Pondering the Possibilities of the Atlantic League

Bundesliga Talk 14 October @ 11:52 AM EST

While the Aughts have been full of speculation/proposal about the Old Firm joining the EPL, the 90's was about the Old Firm joining what was dubbed as the Atlantic League. It was a joint proposal from the big clubs in the Netherlands, Scotland and Portugal. ESPN is reporting that there may be another attempt at this break away league, which would involve the aforementioned clubs along with Belgium and the Scandinavian clubs.

New deal for Chelsea's Kalou - but is he worth it?

News reports today suggest that Saloman Kalou is about to agree a new deal at Chelsea. It's easy to see why Chelsea might be marshalling him towards putting pen to paper, but there's another side to the coin...
When Kalou joined Chelsea back in 2006, he looked a promising player. Perhaps a little inconsistent – especially in the final third – Kalou was at least dynamic, energetic and positive in possession.

How much longer will Monaco be a mid table team?

Soccer Pie 07 October @ 02:14 AM EST

AS Monaco are the only Ligue 1 club not based in France as they are actually based in the principality of Monaco. They are, nevertheless, one of the most successful clubs in the country but Les Rouge et Blanc have struggled to return to the big stage ever since losing the Champions League final to Porto in 2004.

What is Sampdoria’s secret?

The fact that Sampdoria are on top of Serie A after six rounds may be surprising to many people. Some will say it is luck. Some will mention Cassano as the power engine of the team that makes others better players and some might say that Samp used the starting failures of big clubs and things will eventually fall into place.
