Outside of Harry's court case, the issues surrounding John Terry and the England captaincy have
been firmly in the media spotlight this week and while the attention is currently on manager Fabio
Capello, two of Tottenham's England internationals could be set to profit from the affair.
Scott Parker emerged last season to command a regular place in the England side and since his
move to White Hart Lane, our outstanding midfielder must surely be one of the first names on
Capello's team sheet.
The Kickette round commences at 38.29. But really, you should watch the whole show. You're clearly
not busy, because you're here.
If our appearance on ESPN's Talk Of The Terrace didn't give you a hint that boys have no clue
what a woman wants from a footballer, our latest foray into TV territory certainly should.
Last month, I conducted a survey on this site asking if Liverpool fans would be happy if the club
signed Carlos Tevez. Given the Argentine's behaviour at Man City recently over the last few months,
and the fact he's a former Manchester United player (!), the results were very surprising indeed.
Close the polls, it's already over the goal of 2012 has landed.
It comes way of Bolivia and Erlan Mealla of Nacional Potosi, and it's so good you'd half expect
it to be a viral. Maybe the graininess is a purposeful attempt to evoke a sense of legitimacy?
It seems punishment for such a fantastic goal, but he needs to be put on camera and deprived of
sleep until he can do it again.
If you've got a moment or two to spare might I point you in the direction of The Away End?
They're on the lookout for the 100 greatest Scottish league players of all time.
That is the best players - of all nationalities - to have graced league football in Scotland over
the decades.
With several candidates being linked with the vacant managers position at Broadhall Way, I
thought it might be interesting to see who the supporters prefer as their new manager.

Benoît Pierre David Assou-Ekotto, or Mr Consistency to a growing number of Spurs fans always
scores well in our polls but did his performance last night finally secure our man of the match
award?
BAE's most telling influences on the game came in attack with the raking diagonal ball that set up
Aaron Lennon and the pile-driving second half strike that doubled his tally in a Spurs shirt.
One of this website's latest followers on Twitter, Simeon F. W. Pickup states his interests as
‘Reading FC, Atheism, Labour. In that order.' Although Ed Miliband's negligible impact on the
polls may have something to do with his party being relegated behind Brian McDermott and Richard
Dawkins in Simeon's thinking, I did read this as tongue in cheek.
You've heard the news, now take the poll: Should the Galaxy re-sign David Beckham?Yes, his 15
assists were a major reason the Galaxy won MLS CupYes, but not at $6.5 million a year, especially
if he heads off to the Olympics for a monthNo, he can't repeat his success
Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel have forged a fantastic central defensive partnership over the last
couple of months, but who is currently playing the best out of the two?Like most great defensive
partnerships, Agger and Skrtel complement each other very well. Skrtel is the Carra/Lawrenson-esque
'last-ditch' scrapper, whereas Agger is the more elegant, Hansen-esque ball-player.
Luis Suarez is undoubtedly one of Liverpool's best players, but will the team actually miss him
that much when he's out serving his 8-game ban? I'm not so sure. Suarez is a fantastic player, and
his principal role in the team is to score and create goals. However, the cold hard truth is that
he has not been doing that consistently this season, and the facts prove this beyond a shadow of a
doubt.
How would Kenny Dalglish's superb team of 1987-1991 stack up against the current Barcelona team?
Liverpool legend John Barnes was recently asked that question, and despite being a huge fan of Pep
Guardiola's team, he questioned whether the likes of Messi and Iniesta would be able to cut it in
an era where players hardly got any protection at all from referees.
Liverpool left-backs from past and present come face to face at Craven Cottage tonight, and whilst
John Arne Riise and Jose Enrique are both excellent players in their own right, who would you
choose at left back for Liverpool if you had to make a choice?
Enrique has been a success story at Anfield so far this season; unlike others, he settled in five
minutes after starting his first game for the club, and he's produced high quality performances
ever since.
It doesn't look that way. He's not getting any bump in the polls from them. But, why not? Their
everywhere on television, showing up often during the highest rated shows and sports events.
The spots are awesome.
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that injured midfielder Lucas Leiva is the 'equal' of
Luis Suarez when it comes to impact on the team, but who is the more important player overall?
Carra, who has just come back from injury himself, argued:
"For the last 18 months, in my opinion, he has been our best player.
It's no secret that Liverpool have struggled to score goals this season, and despite the talents of
Luis Suarez, the club still (arguably) lacks a 'fox in the box' goal-poacher; a Robbie Fowler-type
player with a knack for scoring goals regularly. One player constantly linked with Liverpool is
Jermain Defoe, but club legends Ray Houghton and Gary Gillespie insist that he is not the player
Liverpool need.
Liverpool's first goal against Chelsea last night was a masterpiece of counter-attacking football,
as was Maxi's goal at Stamford Bridge in the league last week, and former Liverpool defender Jason
McAteer believes that his old team is the best counter-attacking side in the country. Is he right?
Craig Bellamy and Maxi Rodrigues have spent more time warming the bench than playing this season,
but both started against Chelsea on Sunday, and both played a vital part in an excellent Liverpool
victory. Clearly, having Maxi and Bellamy in the starting line-up works, so Kenny Dalglish surely
has to stick with them for the Man City game this Sunday.

Spain's centre-right People's Party said it will push Real Madrid and Barcelona to have more
equitable distribution of income from television rights, according to PP policymaker Miriam
Blasco.
"You have to support the small teams as well, because it's true that the Spanish league would
not exist if it was not working for all the clubs," Blasco, a candidate to become Spain's top
sports official after the election, said in an interview.
Since returning to Anfield, Kenny Dalglish has spent more than 100m on new players. Which, if any,
of these players could be sold at a profit for Liverpool in the future?
One of FSG's goals is to buy young players with a view to increasing their value over the duration
of their contracts, with Liverpool (hopefully) benefiting in the meantime.
As some of you may have known I've been having some trouble with my polls on the site for a while.
But in a rare bit of clear thinking (very rare) I fixed the problem about 10 minutes ago. So here's
the poll for Saturday's game:
Steven Gerrard is in the final stages of his football career, and in the last couple of years, he's
increasingly picked up niggling injuries that have kept him on the sidelines. Is it time for
Gerrard to start thinking about retiring from International football so that he can prolong his
Liverpool career?
Liverpool legend John Barnes has shown some support for beleaguered Chelsea captain John Terry,
arguing that even if he is proved to have said what video images seem to confirm he said (to Anton
Ferdidand), it does not necessarily mean he's racist.
Barnes, who regularly suffered abuse as a player in his early days at Liverpool, said:
"There are two issues.
Sky Sports were quick to anoint Scott Parker with the man of the match award after yesterday's
win over QPR but were there better contenders on the day?
Sky rightly suggested that everything that was good about our play seemed to begin with Scott
but has he evolved into the Bryan Robson of the present day who only needs to step onto the pitch
to receive such awards?
Liverpool kept a clean sheet for only the second time in 11 games against West Brom yesterday, and
a key part of the excellent defensive display was the effectiveness of Daniel Agger and Martin
Skrtel. Should they now stay as Liverpool's first choice central defensive partnership?
Agger and Skrtel have played together as a partnership (without Carra) only 11 times in the last 4
years, with mixed results:
Played - 11
Won - 6
Drew - 2
Lost - 3
Goals conceded - 10
Clean sheets - 5
When Carra returns from injury, should he go straight back into the team, or should Kenny Dalglish
stick with Agger and Skrtel?
Mark Lawrenson stated earllier in the week that he believes Liverpool 'are not good enough' to
finish in the top 4. For many fans, that is an incendiary statement, but if you think that's bad,
you 'aint seen nothin' yet!
On Ireland's Today FM show, Lawrenson also stated:
"They [Liverpool] can't finish in the top four positions but 5th or 6th will represent progress for
them".
Fernando Torres left Anfield under a cloud, but there's no denying that (for the most part) he was
an absolutely outstanding striker for Liverpool. Luis Suarez has also been excellent for the club,
but if you had to choose between the two, who would you play unfront for Liverpool?
A key difference between Suarez and Torres is finishing ability.
Is this week's man of the match a formality or does someone other than Rafael van der Vaart
deserve the champagne after his double strike in yesterday's 2-1 win at Blackburn?
The Dutchman is in a rich vein of striking form with five golas in his last four games and was
singled out for praise by manager Harry Redknapp after the match.
Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that Liverpool rely too much on Luis Suarez, even going so
far as to suggest that without the Uruguayan striker, the club would struggle to win games. Do you
agree?
Barnes told Goal.com:
"Luis Suarez is fantastic but I wish it was not all about Gerrard and Suarez.
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva was suspended for the Norwich game, which meant the team underwent
a slight reshuffle. Did the Brazilian's absence affect the performance of the team in any way?
The team put out by Kenny Dalglish against Norwich was probably Liverpool's most attacking line-up
of the season, and this showed with 25 shots on goal, 15 of which were on target.
Kenny Dalglish plans to put out the 'strongest team' available to him against Rangers tonight.
Given the fact that game is a friendly (in name only), and injuries to key players could prove
costly, is this the right strategy?
Speaking about tonight's game, Kenny confirmed:
"It's not like we're going to be allowed to go up there to take it nice and easy casual.
Rafa Benitez has stated several times over the last year that he would like to manage Liverpool
again one day. Hopefully, Kenny Dalglish will be in the hotseat for years to come, and will bring
lots of success to the club, but when the inevitable day comes for the King to retire, would you
take Benitez back at Anfield?
Liverpool are in the unique position of being completely injury free at the moment, and with 7 or 8
players fighting it out for 4 first-team defensive spots, who should be part of a settled defensive
unit for the club?
One of the keys to a successful team is undoubtedly a settled defensive unit, and that is something
Liverpool haven't been able to maintain as a result of persistent injury problems over the last
year.
Today's draw with Manchester United was Stewart Downing's tenth game for Liverpool, and in the 12
hours and 21 minutes he's been on the pitch, he's failed to score or create a single goal. Granted,
he is still settling in at Liverpool (how long can that excuse be used for?), but given Downing's
Premier League experience and International status, is this an acceptable creative return?
Andy Carroll scored his first goal in 11 hours of football against Everton two weeks ago but he's
back on the bench for the Man United game today. Is this the right decision?I have to admit that I
think it's the wrong decision; I can never see the logic in dropping an attacking player who scored
in the previous game; it just doesn't make any sense to me.
The Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Division 2 state boys poll was interesting right to the
end.
The final rankings of the season were released Monday, and while the division 1 and 3 polls had
little movement, the Division 2 ranking once again featured plenty of changes as teams headed into
the postseason.
Virginia Men's Soccer Entertains Navy at 7 p.m. Tuesday
There will be plenty of quality soccer for fans to keep track of today as UVa Men host Navy at 7
p.m. Virginia saw a jump in the polls (No. 18 Soccer America) following their defeat of then No. 2
Maryland giving the Terps their first loss of the season.
Pepe Reina has revealed that he almost left Liverpool 3 times over the last three years, and had to
be talked into staying at Anfield, once by his wife. Arsenal were one of the clubs who tried to
sign the Spaniard, and according to Reina, they offered £20m for his services. Do you think the
club should've accepted Arsenal's offer?
If the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association polls are a good barometer of the state's top boys
soccer teams, then the WIAA Division 2 Pewaukee sectional figures to be an incredibly difficult
bracket.
The 17-team sectional includes the top four teams in the latest WSCA Division 2 poll –
Milwaukee Thomas More, Shorewood, Pewaukee and Waukesha Catholic Memorial – along with East Troy,
which is now honorable mention after being ranked earlier this year.
