Earlier in the week, both the Guardian and Independent reputable members of the British media in
my view claimed Chelsea were ready to throw around £40 million at Atletico Madrid for striker
Sergio Aguero in the January transfer window.
Move forward a couple of days.

Let's dip into the playoff poll again, this time with one of the fallen favorites. We corralled
Houston radio man Brian Zygo to tackle our Dynamo answers.NSC: What went wrong?BZ: In simple terms,
a lack a finishing, the Houston Dynamo were having trouble putting the ball in the net. It took
over 180 minutes of playing time in the first round of the MLS playoffs before the Dynamo scored a
goal.

Though the worst fears over his health and career have passed, it is highly unlikely (to put it
mildly) that
Charlie Davies will be match fit in time for the 2010 World Cup. So
who to replace him?
Head over to ASN's USMNT page to vote in the poll.

able to squeeze my ballot in just under the deadline, it was far from an easy decision to make.

I want to apologize to everyone for being down the last couple of days. Quite frankly the blog
has been running poorly since last Thursday. I spent hour and hours trying to figure it out to no
avail. A very big thanks to Superrookies friend Jeff Austin for spending his whole evening
working to get IMS back up and running.

As you know, we complain about injuries, even though a lot of other clubs (Liverpool, Chelsea)
have plenty of injury problems of their own. But we now have fully eleven players injured, and
crying doesn't help, so why not have a little fun with it?
Our 11 players could be configured into a lineup:
Fabianski
Traore-Djourou-Clichy
Denilson
Walcott-Wilshere-Diaby-Vela
Bendtner-van Persie
An unconventional formation, sure.

I thought I'd share a short -- yet loaded -- question with you all.

Leeds United, once tippy top dog of the First Division, has been relegated to the third division
for the first time in it's storied history. Today, a once ravaged squad stands as tippy top dog
again, having it's finances in order as well as their management, going undefeated in eight games,
and taking an early lead in the poll race for a Championship promotion.

When Liverpool paid Portsmouth £18m for Glen Johnson more than a few eyebrows were raised and
plenty of those raised were from us Reds fans. The more Johnson plays for Liverpool though the more
you can see that he is becoming worth every penny that we paid for him as he adds a whole new
dimension to the Reds side.

It has been a long and sometimes unforgiving decade for the Bulls. They played in the highest of
highs (an MLS Cup Appearance) and the lowest of the lows (2009), suffered extreme anguish over
injustice (Diallo, Petke is still gunning for you), and extreme ecstasy
(Mathis - those 5 goals were a thing of beauty).

We've covered the forwards, and we've covered the front office. Heck, our front office results
actually have been 100% correct so far, with Tom Soehn leaving the team and Kasper and Payne set to
return. We'll have to wait a while to find out if our forward results are correct, but in the
meantime, let's see what everyone has to say about our attacking midfielders.

Without a doubt, Sunday's game between Chelsea and Manchester United is the biggest of the
season between the two clubs who have the best chance to win the Premier League title this season
(sorry Arsenal fans). So, it's no wonder that so much importance is being placed on this game. Not
that who wins will decide anything, but it will be a massive psychological boost for the winning
team and will show which club has what it takes to win the title.

The bald one, Peter Kenyon, set a goal of winning two Champions League crowns within a decade
when he took over as Chelsea chief executive in 2004. Our new chief, Ron Gourlay is upping the
stakes.
"Over the next five years we've still got to shoot for the stars," Gourlay said. "I'd still like
to think we can win the Champions League twice in the next five years.

Liverpool only managed a 1-1 draw away to Lyon tonight which may not be enough to qualify for the
quarter finals of the Champions League. A depleted Liverpool team had most of the possession away
to Lyon and had a few good attempts on goal saved by the Lyon keeper, until sub Ryan Babel scored
with a magnificent thunderbolt shot on 83 mins to give the Reds a deserved lead.

Got this from over at Hillcrest Road, and figured I'd pass it on cause it's pretty cool. The
Wiz(ards) are one of 3 soccer teams nominated in the poll on the ESPN blog, Uni Watch, for the
worst soccer uniforms. While the Wiz(ards) have plenty of potential nominees (as seen by the photo
below), it's the 96-97 jerseys that are nominated in this competition.

It's that time of the year again. Major League Soccer has announced its nominees for 2009
individual player awards. While the viability of the nominees can be debated at length (Is Kasey
Keller really nominated for three awards? Why are three Sounders players nominated for one award?
etc.) what is more interesting is to figure out what you, the fan, think should deserve to win the
award in question.
