Time for some quick hitters from around the soccer business world. We'll start in Colorado,
where the Rapids have taken a unique step to promote season tickets and reward their best
customers. The team's 2013 jerseys will include the names of its 2012 season ticket holders woven
into the shirts.
A Valencia supporter found himself missing some of his side's match against Levante last night
after being escorted out of the stadium by police. His crime? Bouncing the ball off the head of
Levante goalkeeper Gustavo Munua. The fan 'returned' the ball to Munua when he came to retrieve it
from fans behind his goal.
There have been racial comments made on social networking sites yesterday directed towards
Newcastle United. It seems the slurs were based on the number of black players the Newcastle
club have on its books, and of course we just signed another top Senegal International - Papiss
Cisse yesterday.

According to several of this morning's newsrags, a 55-year old junior chef has been cautioned
and 29 bags of cannabis have been seized from a locker at Rio Ferdinand's 'Rosso' restaurant (the
sordid den of inequity where Wayne Rooney reportedly solicited the services of one 'Juicy' Jenni
Thompson over a candlelit bowl of chicken nuggets) in Manchester following a Police #drugsraid at
the Italian eatery on Friday afternoon.
Disney is not going to do a cartoon remake of the Russian Premier League anytime soon. That may
be an exercise in acknowledging the obvious, but it remains true the RPL isn't for the kiddies.
Roberto Carlos might have a few words of commentary in that realm.
And yet, it can still manage to surprise with some off-pitch shenanigans, like this weekend,
when one player who'd just been sent off in a reserve game was beaten in the tunnel by men "dressed
as" police officers.
February 19th 2005: United won 2-0 on Rooney's return to Goodison Park since

As parliament prepares to debate the full release of documents relating to Hillsborough and the
long-suspended dominos begin to fall, momentum building towards what seems more and more an
inevitable release of what has shamefully been kept hidden for far too long, it's been a nervous
day of remembrance and retrospect for many just as much as one of cautious hope for the future.
Labour MP Andy Burnham: We'll get justice for the 96
In dusty box files in the House of Lords, there are thousands of badly photocopied papers. They
look inconsequential. They are anything but. The boxes contain personal statements from police
officers who witnessed at first hand one of the biggest peacetime disasters in our country's
history.

Derby clashes are always fiercely contested affairs but when violence hits heir
a non contest. Argntina's volatile Avellaneda derby between Racing Club and Independiente was one
such contest after a fan was shot during fighting between rival fans which got out of hand. The
match ended 1-1, but with 1,200 Police officers needed and no doubt more Hospital staff, it would
make you wonder 'Is it all worth it'?
Today, ten years after the fateful 9/11 disaster, is full of emotions, sorrow, grief and
remembering those that sadly died in the airplanes, in the buildings and the many firefighters and
police officers that made the huge sacrifice to risk ...
I am hearing a lot of criticism of the police as the dust settles in the wake of the recent riots.
This strikes me as particularly knee-jerk and opportunistic. I saw a lot of scary scenes from the
comfort of my front room and I saw a lot of people's lives being torn apart by thugs and criminals
and mindless morons but the one thing I didn't see was police lounging round doing nothing.
The long awaited Premier League return is in jeopardy after the recent spate of riots most notably
in the capital and in other major cities. 16,000 police officers are currently situated on the
streets of London leaving not enough officers to patrol football matches across the land. Several
midweek Carling Cup fixtures were already cancelled, [.
I have to say, I have empathy with the looters. When you see no other option for survival, I
totally understand the mindset of trying to obtain what you need to live. Of course, I'm talking
about those who tried to loot food and water in Somalia not the idiots in London right now who are
stealing televisions, clothing and anything else they can get their hands on.
Rather alarming news from out of Enschede today, as FC Twente's stadium De Grolsch Veste has
collapsed and there are people trapped underneath, with rumors, if no confirmations, of
"casualties".
This is no small stadium; not, considering, their presence in the Champions League, and though
it was under construction, which sounds the culprit, this has the potential to be both tragic and
widely impacting in the world of football.

MELBOURNE, Australia The Melbourne Victory soccer club has angrily denied claims its fans are
violent, amid criticisms from police and the state government. A senior Victorian policeman on
Friday said members of the force were reluctant to volunteer to work at Melbourne Victory soccer
matches because of violence among the team's supporters.
