Liverpool will attempt to bring talented Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello to Anfield as part of any deal that takes goalkeeper Pepe Reina to the Spanish champions. Barca want to bring 30-year-old Reina to Camp Nou to replace Victor Valdes, who is expected to leave the club this summer. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to [.
If Andrew Wooten is to find consistent minutes in the 2. Bundesliga this season and further his
development, it apparently won't be with Kaiserslautern.
According to a report, Wooten is set to go on a season-long loan to recently-promoted club SV
Sandhausen in a quest for playing time.
Hot on the heels of yesterday's mysteriously out-of-favour Premier League players, here are five players who are being regularly picked for reasons best known to their managers. 1. Gervinho Where do you start? Arsenal splashed out £10.8million on Gervinho and have seen very little return. Arsene Wenger persists with the enigmatic Ivorian, presumably on the [.
Here's the official announcement, the Rapids get a conditional draft pick from Chicago in exchange
for Wells Thompson.
There's a good deal of consternation in the on-line Rapids fanbase about wells asking to be traded
to find playing time, but it doesn't bother me. Look at what's happened this season:
*Wells was on pace for 727 minutes this year, his lowest season total of his career.
The transfer window may be closed throughout most of Europe but one country in which it is still
open is Russia, and one club there is trying to take advantage of that by luring Manchester United
winger Nani.
Chelsea are finally set to seal the deal to bring sensational young German winger Andre Schurrle
to Stamford Bridge, with Daniel Sturridge poised to make a loan move out.
The Blues unsuccessfully chased Schurrle earlier this summer, with the player's Bundesliga club
Bayer Leverkusen turning down their offer with immediate effect.
The opportunity has presented itself for Joe Gyau to display his talents on the first-team
level.
Gyau, one of the top midfield prospects in the U.S. pipeline, was loaned to 2. Bundesliga club
St. Pauli for the 2012-13 season by Hoffenheim, a move that provides a chance for the speedy
19-year-old winger to receive consistent playing time.
Joe Gyau's quest for first-team playing time may involve a drop down to the 2. Bundesliga.
According to second-division German side St. Pauli, Gyau trained with the club Tuesday ahead of
a potential move from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. It is unclear whether that move would be a loan or
permanent, but either way it would provide Gyau for a chance at first-team minutes that he is not
receiving at Hoffenheim.
Maurice Edu's move to Stoke City is not complete yet, but Rangers manager Ally McCoist confirmed
that the move is still in the works.Â
"I'm led to believe the Maurice Edu transfer to Stoke is still ongoing," McCoist told Sky
Sports. "If and when that happens, he will go with our best wishes, but I don't think there has
been anything concrete done with that at the moment.
The team has confirmed that Wells has asked for a trade to find more playing time but states that
no deal is complete yet. Roster freeze date is Saturday, so safe bet he'll be traded sometime this
week (I'm guessing an official announcement tomorrow).
Arsene Wenger has said that Johan Djourou still has a future
at Arsenal despite the fact that the centre-half wanted to leave the club in the
summer transfer window.
Djourou made just 14 first-team appearances for the Gunners last season and hasn't featured at
all in the club's 2012/13 campaign.
many headlines this morning regarding PHW's interview in the Standard screaming 'WE CAN'T
COMPETE', which really doesn't tell the full story. We can't compete in some respects, we know
that, and that's what the Chairman said.
"At a certain level, we can't compete"
And he's talking about the clubs whose resources are endless.

Before Cesc Fabregas finally forced his move from Arsenal to Barcelona in the summer of 2011, he
was in Ibiza and, according to Xavi, he was suffering. In the year since his Barca DNA was
mercifully returned home, the 25-year-old Fabregas was a standout performer early on and won the
Club World Cup and Copa del Rey, plus another European Championship with Spain.
The conclusion to the frenzy has arrived with less than 8 and one half hours to go, we'll know
exactly who is and isn't an Arsenal player. I'm still holding out hope for that one big signing, I
mean c'mon, I wouldn't be an Arsenal fan if I didn't! I'm not sure how well Blyve liveblog will be
compared to CoverItLive, but at least this will give us some sort of liveblogging forum.
Note to self - don't stay up until 3 AM the night before an Arsenal game, if said AFC game starts
at 8.30 AM. Thank you Motorola, and your ridiculously aggressive phone alarm. Anyway, thoughts as
follows:
* If there was one name that stuck out on the team sheet, it was Mannone. I feared the worst, but
we actually defended pretty well, leaving Vito with relatively little to do.
There comes a time in every footballer's life when they need to play regularly if they hope to
develop or retain their skills. But in reality this isn't always possible to do, especially for
youngsters because there are so many more players than positions available. This is why we see
players loaned out to other teams on a regular basis.

United States Lineup Projection: Anyone's Guess With Donovan Out [Kevin McCauley, Stars and

isn't too tough, but when two key players are missing?

Tottenham Hotspur's last minute swoop to acquire Clint Dempsey for around $9.6 million may have
come as a surprise, but on paper at least the move makes a lot of sense for both parties.
It took until the last minute, but Clint Dempsey finally got the move away from Fulham that he
desperately wanted. Though he had his heart set on Liverpool, a breakdown in communication between
them and Fulham combined with a weak deadline day offer of £3 million (£7 million less than what
Fulham originally wanted and half of what Spurs ended up paying) prevented that from happening.
The local papers have been reporting that Newcastle have been negotiating with Liverpool this week
for the return of Andy Carroll, and with the rumors the Mersyside club will soon bring in American
striker Clint Dempsey from Fulham, Andy will not see much playing time at Anfield this season. Andy
Carroll back to Newcastle [.
Jozy Altidore may be finding the back of the net more frequently than ever and may be playing
some of the best soccer in his career, but that is not to say the recent success has come easy for
the young American striker.
The Philadelphia Union's trade haul for former No. 1 overal MLS SuperDraft pick Danny Mwanga did
not last very long at PPL Park.
Colombian forward Jorge Perlaza was unceremoniously cut by the Union not even three months after
being acquired from the Portland Timbers in exchange for Mwanga in early June.
But in Turkey, France and Russia it remains open as anyone who was following the incredible Hulk
to Zenit St Petersburg deal or the less interesting Raul Meireles to Fenerbahce story will
know.
That could yet mean that one of the fringe members of the squad will leave and there are stories
emerging this morning that Tom Huddlestone could still make a loan move out of the club.
It's deadline day and expect another 12 hours of madness! One rumour that has literally come out of
the blue this morning is that Arsene Wenger is considering a bid to take Michael Essien to the
Arsenal!.
The thing is, as each season passes by and each transfer window comes and goes, you can get an idea
of the moves certain clubs will be making.
Under former head coach Peter Nowak, and Sporting Director Diego Gutierrez, Colombia was a
source of talent for a Philadelphia Union team that needed an influx of it during an offseason. Now
Colombia has become a place of departure for exiting Union players.
First it was Faryd Mondragon returning to Deportivo Cali, the team he began his professional
soccer career with, and today it was Jorge Perlaza, heading to Millonarios after his rather
forgetful time with the Union.
CARSON, Calif.—It has been a wild eight months for rookie Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Jose
Villarreal.
Since signing a Homegrown contract at the end of 2011, the 18-year-old California native has
spent the majority of his playing time in the reserve league, but lately, that has been
changing.
Maurice Edu's move to Stoke City is officially complete.
Edu signed a three-year deal with Stoke Thursday, and the club has been given the green light
by the English FA to finalize his work permit that will make him eligible for selection. According
to the club's official website, it is unlikely that will be completed ahead of this weekend's match
against Wigan Athletic, meaning that Edu will debut for the club following the international
break.

Maurice Edu has found a new home and when he gets there he will see a familiar face.
The U.S. national team midfielder/defender has signed with English Premier League squad Stoke
City, agreeing to personal terms with the club on Saturday. He joins the Potters just as U.
Maurice Edu's transfer saga has taken a bit of an odd turn.
Two days after Rangers manager Ally McCoist claimed that League Championship side Ipswich Town
had made an offer for the U.S. international, the club's manager, Paul Jewell, denied that his club
had done such a thing.
Rumors about Wells Thompson being traded to the Chicago Fire started yesterday. That's weird I
thought. Wells Thompson is a guy that this team doesn't need. The rumors persisted today but the
move seemed so odd, I brushed it off. I don't have that luxury anymore as Wells Thompson went to
Facebook to post a picture of himself in the Fire's locker room with the words, "Breaking News:
Newest Member of the Chicago Fire Team!
Much has been spoken and written about Liverpool's wafer thin striker line up for the current
season. Luis Suarez has been particularly wasteful in front of the goal and Fabio Borini hasn't
shown any resourcefulness either. To add to their compounding woes, their pony-tailed striker Andy
Carroll has moved to West Ham on loan (with Big Sam at the helm, it's a match made in heaven).
After every match this season, the staff here at The Bent Musket will be putting together player
ratings. Ratings are on a 1-10 scale, with 5 representing a thoroughly average performance, and 6 a
decent/capable showing. The final ratings will be averages of individual ratings from Steve Stoehr,
Corey Major, Matty Jollie, and Abram Chamberlain.
The New England Revolution will play their third match in seven days on Saturday night as they
welcome the Philadelphia Union to Gillette Stadium. The Revolution managed to halt a five-match
losing streak on Wednesday when they drew 3-3 with Chivas, but are still struggling through a
nine-game winless run.
Eric Lichaj and Brad Guzan hope to see playing time in Aston Villa's game against Tranmere Rovers,
while Geoff Cameron could see the field in Stoke City's match with Swindon Town.
We don't know how much playing time Papiss Cisse will get this afternoon at Stamford Bridge, after
he started the game in Athens, Greece on Thursday night, and we have to think that if Shola Ameobi
is fit again, he could get the start this afternoon, with Papiss coming in some time during the
second [.
