Arsenal may have impressed everyone with their 7-1 demolition of Blackburn at the weekend, but
before that they had only earned one point from their previous four games. Theo Walcott was one of
the players pinpointed by Arsenal fans as being out of sorts during that run, and the England
international thinks it is unfair [.
And so the Carlos Tevez saga continues linked to Inter, AC Milan, PSG, and now Liverpool. The
club have apparently had a bid for Tevez rebuffed and hardly surprising given that they are
rumoured to have offered Andy Carroll in a straight swap for the player.
I know Tevez is hard work and a bit of a cry baby at times, but I know who I'd rather have in my
team, City would've been mad to do a like-for-like swap, although with the money at their disposal
I doubt they'd really mind, plus Carroll can be decent when playing as a target man but I can't see
that City would really need to resort to that with the quality of players at their disposal.
Carlsberg announced that it has today appointed Peter Schmeichel, legendary former goalkeeper for
Denmark and Manchester United, as its global ambassador for the duration of the brand's UEFA EURO
2012™ campaign
In an interview, David Beckham recounted a humorous story about his son. At a recent get together
with his LA Galaxy teammates, Brooklyn made and American to British English faux pas. Apparently,
Brooklyn was doodling and asked his father for sone rubbers. Beckham's teammates were very puzzled
by the child's request for condoms.
I attended 4 of the sessions and both games versus Klinsmann's senior team.
Caleb Porter
First and foremost, if our praise for Caleb Porter hasn't been evident, let me repeat, Caleb
Porter is legit.
Previously, we've been judging him solely from watching his Akron team (on TV and in
person).
Quite a transfer coup for Newcastle with the signing of £10 million pound number 9 Papiss Demba
Cisse from German side Freiburg. The Senegalese striker will wear the famous shirt, as worn by
previous Newcastle legends Alan Shearer, Jackie Milburn and Malcolm Macdonald. He will make up half
of a potentially lethal strikeforce alongside Newcastle's other top striker, also from Senegal,
Demba Ba.
A Chinese Internet company has said it is paying French football player Nicolas Anelka 2.7 million
euros ($3.4 million) to endorse a new online game, as the striker gears up for his first season in
China.
Fabio Cannavaro and Robert Pires will be two of the six icon players for the IPL-like Premier
League Soccer, to be kicked off in the state from February 25.

The impending arrival of Carlos Tevez could well end any hopes Filippo Inzaghi had of
winning back his place in the AC Milan Champions League squad let alone the first team. Unless
Super Pippo can prove people wrong one more time, the 38-year-old poacher will have to seek a new
home before the transfer window closes.
As per usual the standard crazy transfer talk is in full swing in line with the opening of the
January transfer window.
Demba Ba has been linked with Man United, with his agent claiming that this is complete rubbish.
Interestingly, there is a release fee in his contract and so if a club bids this amount then Ba is
allowed to begin talks regarding a move.

Jordan Rhodes has certainly got the Premier League's attention. As many as eight top flight
clubs were represented at Huddersfield Town's game against Wycombe Wanderers last week. And they
are likely to have been impressed – the striker bagged five goals in a remarkable display.
Goal: Kenny Dalglish claims Liverpool's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City will have no
bearing on League Cup semi-final
The Scot believes the defeat at the Etihad will not be lingering on his players' minds, while
Craig Bellamy feels loss last week was not a fair reflection on his team

Guardian: Martin Skrtel thrives after finally being accepted at Anfield
The Slovakian centre-back says the input of Kenny Dalglish and Steve Clarke has helped him win
over the Liverpool fans The demands of a young family have reduced Martin Skrtel's interaction with
the Liverpool public yet he remains acutely aware of how they perceive him.
Mirror: Why Hughes has a harder job at QPR than you think, Thierry Henry is magic and
there is a positive side to the Adeyemi incident
I'm a big fan of Mark Hughes as a manager, and he is an excellent signing for QPR, but the
sacking of Neil Warnock does not reflect well on the club or some of their players.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a small article selecting the best eleven in Europe who wear the
number thirteen shirt. I thought I'd look into this subject further and I believe that if you take
the top five leagues in Europe (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) that the highest number
you can make an eleven from (you need a goalkeeper remember) is 33.

Mirror: Forget Cantona, here's our Top 5 players who DID go into politics
Former Manchester United star Eric Cantona was set to launch a bid for the French presidency,
according to reports this morning. But it now appears Cantona is simply the frontman for a
publicity stunt to raise awareness for a French charity.
Such a poor match between Arsenal and Leeds in the 3rd round of the FA Cup last night... that is
of course until Thierry Henry came on as a sub late in the game before scoring a great goal with
just his 4th or 5th touch of the ball. A nice through-ball found Henry who had an excellent first
touch then instant finish, placing the ball past the Leeds keeper in the far corner of the net.

Guardian: Liverpool's Stewart Downing arrested for suspected assault in
Yarm
• Winger detained at one o'clock on Sunday morning • Tom Adeyemi suspect arrested and bailed
The Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has been arrested on suspicion of assault. The 27-year-old,
who has 32 caps for England and joined Liverpool from Aston Villa last year, was arrested early on
Sunday morning after an alleged confrontation with a former girlfriend at the Cross Keys club in
Yarm, North Yorkshire.
Brilliant goal scored by Wayne Rooney in the FA Cup 3rd round match between Man City and Man
United. Rooney knocked the ball out wide to Valencia who put in a lovely first time ball, with
Rooney bravely jumping to head using the back of his head, with the ball going in the top corner
off the underside of the crossbar.
Paul Scholes has amazingly come out of retirement and will play for Manchester United until the
end of the season it has been announced today.
Rumours has been circulating that Scholes had told some United players that he'd be willing to
return to the club after retiring at the end of last season, but he was reluctant to go directly to
the United manager.

Suárez affair has whipped up "a tribal fervour" at Anfield.

Anfield Rd: This has to stop. Now.
A SERIOUS allegation was made by a visiting football player at Anfield last night and as it
should be it was taken seriously by the club and, vitally, the police. The player in question,
Oldham Athletic defender Tom Adeyemi, was visibly upset and angry at something that had happened
towards the end of Liverpool's 5-1 win over his side in last night's third round tie in the
Budweiser-sponsored cup.
Liver Bird: Reds Beat Oldham 5-1
Gerrard kisses the ball after netting his peno... Liverpool put five goals past an Oldham side
that took the lead at Anfield on Friday night. A very different starting line up for Liverpool
allowed Dalglish to try something new and for once Liverpool could be described as clinical rather
than wasteful.

Anfield Rd: Gerrard starts for Reds in cup 3rd round
Liverpool have their captain back as Steven Gerrard makes his first start since his
pre-Christmas injury lay-off. Manager Kenny Dalglish has picked a strong side for the visit of
Oldham in this Budweiser sponsored cup match, but as strong as it might be it isn't Liverpool's
strongest.
