It has just been announced that six teams from India will be starting a new football League,
primarily in the West Bengal area, and they are going to have a cricket-style auction of the some
top-class veterans including the ex-Arsenal star Robert Pires. Bhaswar Goswami, the executive
director of Celebrity Management Group announced that he [.
There are no excuses, yesterday we were outplayed and outfought by a newly promoted side, as
Swansea beat us 3-2 to seriously dent our hopes of making the top four.
The penalty decision was questionable, yes, but as has been the problem recently, we were not up
for this game at all.
Last year the Indian Football Association announced it would be launching Premier League Soccer
in early 2012, with six franchises. The franchises are located in Kolkata, Howrah, Asansol,
Midnapore, and Siliguri. When the league was announced, IFA also stated that each team would have
one icon player and a maximum of three overseas players and one overseas player from Asia.
It's not a trick of the eye, it's not a fancy photoshop job. That is indeed Thierry Henry in an
Arsenal shirt, an Arsenal shirt of 2012, wheeling away to celebrate a goal.
And not just any goal, but an Henry goal. Song played in a brilliant through
ball that split the two covering defenders, Henry took one touch to control the ball, and himself,
and then he curled right into the corner of the net away from the keeper's despairing dive.
Arsenal's former star Robert Pires has offered the Lyon's midfielder Yoann Gourcuff a way out of
the situation he's currently in at the French giants, saying that Arsenal is the best escape route
for him. According to Pires, the best way for Gourcuff to come back into the form which made him
highly-coveted a few [.
Video highlights and reaction Match report -
Arsenal were tested last night by a a very hard working and very decent Borussia Dortmund side.
I wouldn't say it was one we passed with flying colours but the performance and the result showed
that this is an Arsenal team that is improving, confident and, most encouragingly, one that can dig
out a result when necessary.
City talisman Yaya Toure stated in a recent interview that his team can match the Arsenal of
2004 and go unbeaten in this years Premier League.
He said in a launch of Puma's African National Cup kits, "We hope we can continue unbeaten, we
are playing fantastic football."
Although the blue side of Manchester have enjoyed an excellent start to their campaign- the
obvious highlight beating United 6-1 at Old Trafford, I simply do not believe City have what it
takes to match Arsene Wenger's supremely talented side.
Good morning from a much wetter than usual, but not as wet as when I went to bed, Dublin. It all
got a bit mental here yesterday evening. Heavy rain, rivers bursting their banks, a strange man
rounding up two of every animal. Where I live turned from a quiet road into a 2 foot deep
river.
Thankfully everything outside seems to be back to normal now, if a little damp, so we can look
ahead to tonight's Carling Cup game against Bolton.
Anzhi Makhachkala manager Roberto Carlos has rebuffed suggestions he wants to sign Liverpool's
Steven Gerrard, as well as numerous other high-profile players.
The Brazilian World Cup winner has frequently been in the press in recent weeks having made
ambitious claims that mega-rich Anzhi are eyeing some of Europe's top players.
Firstly, before you start reading this article, you should know that I am not a part of the AKB
gang. Nor (as you may tell from the title) am I campaigning to get Wenger the boot. I am simply
pro-Arsenal Football Club and to be honest I can appreciate the arguments from both sides of the
apparent divide.

The period from 1996/7 to 2010/11 has been magical for us Arsenal supporters. We've been
fortunate enough to have seen an English club play Wengerball.
Never in our 125 year history have Arsenal supporters been able to watch such exquisite football
played by such a World class assembly of players.

As most of you know I like nothing better than looking for positives in an Arsenal performance,
I also like to give our players credit where it is due, unfortunately following the display
yesterday it is very difficult to do either. That is not to say that we had a strong side out, it
was probably the weakest eleven we have fielded at Old Trafford, maybe ever under Arsene
Wenger.
The Theatre of Dreams has proven a nightmare for those who care for the history of New York soccer,
the much heralded "return of the Cosmos" after twenty-five years hiatus ends a 6-0 disgrace. After
the slaughter of MLS sides last month, I didn't anticipate Manchester United playing with similar
intensity.
Well, Manchester United announced their purchase of a certain Ashley Young today- hopefully
that'll be enough to keep their grimy paws off Nasri. Chelsea, on the other hand, made a different
sort of signing- but a much more ominous one in regards to the rest of the league. Andre
Villas-Boas, the prodigious 33 year old and now ex Europa League winning manager of Porto, has
joined the Blues and suddenly Chelsea look like favorites to win everything and anything in sight-
even the Emirates Cup, and they're not even participating in it!
It'd be ludicrous to claim Barca didn't deserve to progress to the CL quarter finals. Even after
the first leg there was a sense of history being written by the victors, as the Catalans could have
been three up by half time in London. That said, those claiming van Persie's dismissal last night
made little difference aren't really talking much sense.
Not just poor sides, but even the likes of Manchester United. You deploy a flat back four,
with 3 central defensive midfielders sitting in front of the defence, blocking, chopping and
slicing up everything that tries to slip through. You then play your fastest players wide and hit
them with long balls once you break up the Arsenal play.

My name is Abhishek Iyer and I'm a 19 year old college student. I understand that I'm supposed
to share some experiences as an Arsenal fan, which I'm more than happy to. I'm not at all ashamed
to go into ‘Oprah Winfrey' mode and say that Arsenal truly gave me direction in life;
it's one of the few things I can discuss with a twinkle in my eye and any discernible modulation in
my voice.
