Caught Offside 14 October @ 05:07 AM EST

These guys may be nearer to drawing their pensions than most, but boy they still have the power to amaze.

We've done the young whippersnappers and we've done the ode to Britain the 25 and over squad, so it's time to pay homage to experienced, the wily, the cunning: the Viagra crowd.

Serie A Goals of the Week: Giornata 2

The Offside: Italy 01 September @ 02:39 PM EST

It was a weekend of some nice goals. First, let's just say that Fabio Quagliarella ALMOST scored the goal of the season (he did however score 2 goals on the night). You can watch that video here. Diego scored his first goals in Serie A, Julio Cruz scored his first goals for Lazio, Alberto Paloschi continues to look more and more like the new Pippo Inzaghi, Giampaolo Pazzini continues to score, and Antonio Cassano worked some magic again.

Serie A Roundup - Week 33

Serie A Talk 26 April @ 10:52 PM EST

Whomever said that the race for the Scudetto was over, spoke too soon. Inter Milan suffered a stunning 1-0 loss on the road to Napoli. Ex-Juve striker Marcelo Zalayeta scored in the 73rd minute to give Napoli the win and extend Inter's winless streak to 3 games. The loss was the Nerazzurri's 3rd of the season and may have opened the door to 2nd place AC Milan to challenge Inter for the Scudetto.

Should Milan WANT to keep Ancelotti?

Serie A Talk 22 April @ 02:49 PM EST

If the media are to believed, AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is the one of the most sought after managers in world football with Real Madrid and Chelsea among the sides linked with the Italian boss for the 2009-10 season.

However, this writer struggles to see why Ancelotti's stock is so high at a time when his own job at Milan must be considered seriously under threat.

Serie A Roundup - Week 32

Serie A Talk 20 April @ 08:20 PM EST

All those that thought that the Serie A wasn't explosive need to look at Week 32 to see that it is. Let's begin with the Derby D'Italia. Juventus and Inter played to a 1-1 draw in Turin that saw the drama intensify in the 2nd half. Mario Balotelli scored to give Inter the lead in the 64th minute and after Juve's Tiago was sent off in the 76th minute it seemed as though the Nerazzurri would get the 3 points but questionable substitutions by Jose Mourinho and the insertion of Sebastian Giovinco by Juve coach Claudio Rainieri eventually led to Zdenek Grygera's goal in the 91st minute and a share of the points.

Swiped this photo from #8220;Ivanna#8221; over on the HABs blog. (Ladies, click at will. Gentlemen, don#8217;t say I didn#8217;t warn you.) Ivanna thought there was somthing just a little#8230;off about this photo. I agree. And after much Offside research, I have uncovered the true story. (I swear. Click to continue reading...

Counting down the best one-club goal scorers in Serie A history

SoccerLens 17 March @ 11:07 AM EST
After watching Pippo Inzaghi's 300th career goal yesterday against Siena, and then reading Daniel Chung's interesting article on one-club footballers, I was curious about all-time goal scorers at the same Italian club. During a career that has spanned many clubs, Inzaghi has 62 with Milan. Please note that that these figures count goals scored in the [. Click to continue reading...

Inzaghi's women inspire him

Soccer News Zone 09 March @ 09:55 AM EST
Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi has dedicated the hat-trick he scored on Sunday to his mum and girlfriend, Alessia Ventura. The 35-year-old, who made only his fifth start for Milan in Serie A this season, scored all of the Rossoneri's goals as they beat Atalanta 3-0 at San Siro. "When I play a game every week it's another story altogether," Inzaghi enthused. Click to continue reading...

Saturday Junk Pile: And then Totti Said to Mexès…

The Offside 14 February @ 05:00 PM EST
A few of the things that made me smile this week, but which weren't big enough for an entire post: That was when Francesco realized, much to his dismay, that Philou was not a natural blond. Yup, I'm pretty sure they're looking at a dropped bottle of hair dye. Wait. What did you think I [...] Click to continue reading...
