Through Ryu's Lens: Onagawa + Tsunami
"Sometimes what you see on the screen isn't the same as what you see with your
eyes."
As you may have noticed, we haven't had a "Through Ryu's Lens" post from acclaimed Japanese
sports photographer Ryu Voelkel for about a month.
Through Ryu's Lens - French Division 1 (Women) - Lyon vs Montpellier, Plaine de Jeux de
Gerland
In his first assignment of 2012, Ryu Voelkel found himself in welcome, yet relatively foreign
territory as he shot the women's football match between Lyon and Montpellier.
Castles. Hedges the size of grandstands. Corner flags that have seen better days. New York
Cosmos fans. Luxury suites the size of an outdoor toilet. And real, genuine, muddy football. Pitch

Guardian: Liverpool promise life ban for any fan who racially abused Tom
Adeyemi
• Merseyside police arrest a 20-year-old Aintree man • Liverpool hand CCTV recordings and
photos to police Liverpool will impose a lifetime ban on any supporter found to have racially
insulted the Oldham Athletic defender Tom Adeyemi.
Through Ryu's Lens - Ligue 1 - PSG vs. Lille, Parc des Princes
Christmas time in Paris does not promise good football. Though PSG were in the spirit of the
holidays, as was the weather, the match ended in a nil-nil stalemate despite the best efforts from
Edin Hazard and Javier Pastore to break the deadlock.
Through Ryu's Lens - Champions League - Chelsea vs Valencia, Stamford Bridge

will be featuring photos exclusively on our site on a regular basis.
It's been a rough week for Brazilian footballers and sexual assault, with Mancini being jailed a
couple of days ago and Marcelinho suspended on suspicions today. Add Braga's Ewerton to the list
with his questionable methods on Wade Elliot of Birmingham.
Or maybe just well-timed photography.

On the 13th of July 2011, photographer Joe Armao and video journo Dave Pavlich combined their
superpowers and endeavoured to capture the friendly game between Melbourne Victory and Celtic at
AAMI Park Melbourne using a mix of time-lapse video and tilt-shift photography (a camera/focus

simplest, most universal ‘frame' to be found across the globe.
You're looking for THIS photo. We're not just connoisseurs of beer and fine American soccer here at
the Free Beer Movement; we're artists too.
Over the years we've brought our camera to all corners of the globe and trained it on the beautiful
game (and plenty of other things). Photography is a fun little hobby and a great window to the
world around us.

I sat down with current Carolina Railhawks and future Vancouver Whitecaps coach on a hot afternoon
in Cary, North Carolina. Martin Rennie's life has changed a bit in recent weeks with the
announcement that he'd be taking over as the coach of Vancouver upon completion of his contract
with the Railhawks.

The "Ruckus" really knows how to support its hometown team, the Orlando City Lions. The Ruckus
is not your average supporters group, but they're not a bunch of hooligans either. Among their code
of conduct stipulations is that every Ruckus member must "remain cheering the entire 90 minutes of
and until our team has left the field.

Rob Kinnan PhotographyI wrote a much longer article on the Railhawks recent win here. Still after
watching the recent victory by the Carolina Railhawks over FC Tampa Bay, a few things stay on my
mind.
Etienne Barbara is on fire. He cannot be stopped at the moment. His goal scoring and his assists
are a byproduct of his attitude though.
I don't think I'd classify this as a good day to bury bad news although your tastes may cause
you to disagree, but while we're all wailing and gnashing teeth over the Alex McLeish debacle, it
appears that the new 2011/12 away shirt may have found its way on to the internet.
I stress may because unlike the 2011/12 home shirt, which I have very high resolution
pictures I obtained myself, I'm not sure of the authenticity of this one.

Blackpool have turned down a written transfer request today from their captain Charlie Adam.
Adam's agent Kenny Moyes earlier confirmed that "Charlie has handed in a transfer request", but
Blackpool boss Holloway later revealed chairman Karl Oyston had rejected it.
"The decision to reject the transfer request was the chairman's decision," he said.
