This guy's a total douche, and his photo gallery offers compelling evidence that Sounders fans are just a subset of the self-congratulatory culture permeating the city, as opposed to a special case:

The 2011 MLS Cup & NBC Coverage

Maybe it's just happening when I'm watching, but based on my (unscientific observations) it seems that NBC has made an attempt to devote a little more time to coverage of the 2011 MLS Cup, which takes place at 8:00 pm central time on Sunday. In light of the news that NBC Universal has obtained a broadcast rights package for MLS matches starting with the 2012 season, it isn't surprising that NBC stations and programs have given airtime to the 2011 MLS Cup.

The United States opened their 2011 schedule in Carson, California on Saturday night with a 1-1 draw against Chile. Esteban Paredes scored the opening goal of the game in the 54th minute and 59th minute substitute Teal Bunbury answered for the USA with a 74th minute equalizer. After a first-half where the teams traded yellow cards and little more, US coach Bob Bradley substituted starting goalkeeper Nick Rimando for Sean Johnson and eventually made four other changes to his squad including subbing Bunbury on in place of Chris Wondolowski.

The two historied English clubs played earlier today, in a 3rd Round FA Cup matchup at the Emirates. While today's was an interesting match, their most famous FA Cup clash was on May 6, 1972 at Wembley in the centenary FA Cup Final. Leeds won 1-0 to win their 1st and only FA Cup.

Unlike today, when it would have been a major upset for Leeds to hang on for a victory against Arsenal, in 1972 they were perhaps the two strongest sides in English football.
