The defending NBA champions are heating up. On Monday night, they went out on the road and
destroyed the Phoenix Suns. However, the Suns did have an excuse: they were without future Hall of
Famer Steve Nash.
The Mavs led 96-70 heading into the fourth quarter before cruising to a 122-99 victory.
Who says Kobe Bryant is old? He sure doesn't look old right now. The superstar guard for the Los
Angeles Lakers dropped 40 points on the Utah Jazz tonight 24 hours after torching the Phoenix Suns
for 48 points. With Kobe on fire, the Lakers have won four straight games and once again look like
a legit contender in the Western Conference.
After losing their first two games of the season, the Phoenix Suns have brought in help in the
form of former All-Star Michael Redd. The Suns gave Redd a one year contract. In his 11-year
career, all spent with the Milwaukee Bucks, Redd has averaged 20 points and 4.1 rebounds.
At 32, Redd is a good gamble for the Suns.
Kobe Bryant suffered a sprained wrist in the first preseason game between the Los Angeles Lakers
and the Los Angeles Clippers. The injury could keep Kobe Bryant out of the Lakers second and final
preseason contest.
However, the good news for the Lakers and Kobe Bryant is that he should be ready to go once the
regular season begins on Christmas Day.
The latest NBA collective bargaining agreement will include an amnesty provision that will allow
each team to waive a player and erase the contract from their salary cap. Who are the best NBA
amnesty candidates? Here is our look at the top ten.
1. Rashard Lewis, Washington Wizards
Although massively overpaid, Rashard Lewis can still play.
Lebron made it chic. Will Vick follow in his footsteps?
Since Lebron's deal to become part owner of Liverpool FC, any pro athlete must be wondering what's
the deal with owning a Soccer club. African-American U.
It's that time of year again. The time when the giraffes from the NBA do battle against the best
soccer players Vancouver Whitecaps co-owner Steve Nash --which is how he will be referred to from
now on-- can muster in a park below Houston St. in NYC. The Showdown in Chinatown is tomorrow and
as per usual I'm gonna be all up in it like Bennett.
Now that we know the order of the 2011 NBA Draft, it's time to start the predictions. While this
draft is considered weak, especially in the lottery, there are some teams that should really be
able to help themselves most notably the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have the first and fourth picks
in the draft!
Marcin Gortat suffered a broken nose against the New Orleans Hornets this weekend in a freak
accident on the court. As you can see in the Marcin Gortat video below, the Polish center for the
Phoenix Suns ran into the back of Steve Nash's head. After running into Nash, he fell to the ground
and had blood pouring all over the ground.
Tonight, Philadelphia Union fans can meet their favorite players as the team hosts a rescheduled
version of the Meet the Players event. It will take place at PPL Park's Stadium Club between 7-9
PM. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, because once a certain capacity of people is filled, no
further fans will be allowed entry.
The new-look New York Knicks are built around Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Chauncey
Billups. However, to become a good team, they need role players to step up and contribute. On
Thursday, Toney Douglas did just that to put it mildly. New York's backup guard buried nine
three-pointers on his way to a game-high 29 points as the Knicks demolished the Grizzlies,
120-99.
Kevin Garnett does some weird things on the basketball court sometimes. He has a habit of trying
to fight players half his size. Against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, Kevin Garnett almost
started a brawl by poking Channing Frye in the penis. The poke came as Channing Frye was attempting
to shoot the ball.
Each year, Forbes comes out with a report that lists the most valuable teams in the NBA. The
2011 version of the list has one big change. Despite winning back-to-back championships, the Los
Angeles Lakers are no longer the NBA's most valuable team. Instead, that honor belongs to the New
York Knicks, who saw their franchise's value jump a whopping 12% in the last year.
