Wigan Athletic 1-1 Everton Premier League 4th February 2012
A late Victor Anichebe goal was enough to rob perpetual strugglers Wigan of a vital and rare
victory. The defeat leaves the Latics bottom of the table and looking like dead certs for the
drop.
A lot less thrilling than it sounded. A scoreless first half, an own goal by Phil Neville then a
late last gasp goal by Anichebe preserves a tie, and both teams walk away with 1pt.Video: Fox

Ep.23 Deadline Daze by Off The Post on Mixcloud The Pod lived the ultimate football punditry dream
last night – recording whilst all the frenetic bedlam of Deadline Day played out. With producer

This could be an eventful day. And then again, no- as Elton John would say. I'm not sure what
the implications will be of having a whole round of Premier League fixtures on the same evening as
the transfer deadline, but to me it sounds a spot iffy. For managers looking to get shot of a bit
of dead wood, I suppose, it's probably ideal.
Former team-mates and current professionals were among the mourners who attended the funeral of
former Liverpool and Everton defender Gary Ablett.
The 46-year-old died on New Year's Day after a 16-month battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and Everton boss David Moyes were present at the city's Anglican
Cathedral along with many of Ablett's team-mates – including John Barnes, Alan Hansen, Mark
Lawrenson, Duncan Ferguson, Matt Jackson and David Unsworth – and other contemporaries from the
1980s and early 1990s.
Good signing for Everton today as they picked up midfielder Darron Gibson from Manchester United
for a reported £1million with a further £1million in appearance-related bonuses.
David Moyes gets a 24-year-old international who made 60 appearances for United, but never was
able to grab a regular starting position.
Tottenham Hotspur tonight moved level on points with second placed Manchester United after a
performance of patience and high quality.
Everton turned up at The Lane as many teams now do, to sit deep and try and frustrate Spurs.
It's to the credit of Harry Redknapp and his team that they didn't get frustrated and saw the
opposition off to seal the points.
The England national football team will jet off to Poland and Ukraine next summer with the hope of
achieving something their forbearers have not. Namely, winning the European Football Championship.
Yet the inhabitants of Krakow and Kiev would be hard pressed to place a cigarette paper between our
brave English Lions, with their matching suits, [.

Phil Neville is in favor of manager David Moyes bringing in reinforcements to the club during
the winter transfer window in January, but one player the Everton captain doesn't see being brought
in is Landon Donovan.

Everton boss David Moyes has admitted he made a costly error in fielding a strong starting IX in
their extra-time Carling Cup defeat to Chelsea in midweek.
The Toffees will be without captain and former Manchester United fledgling Phil Neville, Tim
Cahill and Real Madrid's for their Noon showdown with Premier League Champions Manchester United
tomorrow at Goodison Park.
Top flight football, as many have already found, can be an unforgiving place; one where
individuals are left to rue what might have been if not for injuries, intense competition or
failure to adapt and/or develop at the necessary rate. A world which is no longer as rosy as it
once was, as cold, hard reality hits home and becomes too much to bear.

Why City should throw caution to the wind at Old Trafford
One of the wisest things I've heard this season came from Phil Neville just the other day. "The
league doesn't come to you," he said. "You've got to go and win it." That's why I want to see
Manchester City go into Sunday's derby all guns blazing.

Rooney deserves his three-match ban.. and we're to blame for indulging him
I heard the earth-shattering news about Wayne Rooney's three-game ban on TalkSport. "Clearly
someone doesn't want us to do well in the European championships," said a furious Adrian Durham.
Within minutes the Twittersphere was filled with gems like this from Phil Neville: "If it was a
Dutch, Spanish or Italian player they wouldn't even get one game.
The Merseyside derby is always a heated affair, but we have to say that this level of enthusiasm
for the ball from Phil Neville is unprecedented. We're not sure Tim Cahill will be as impressed
though. Image:Clive Brunskill/Getty Images.
Everton 0-2 Liverpool | Premier League match report
Watched by Fabio Capello, who names his latest England squad on Sunday, Andy Carroll picked a
good time to score his first goal of the season in the Premier League to see off a spirited
challenge from Everton, who played for three-quarters of this eventful Merseyside derby with 10
men.
Little introduction needed for tomorrow's match, which marks the 216th Merseyside Derby. Last
season's encounter at Goodison was farcical from a Liverpool perspective, with the hosts dominating
the match and deservedly earning a 2-0 victory that sent the Reds into the bottom three. Thankfully
fortunes have changed, but what's sure to be the same is the fiery temperament that's come to be
associated with the match-up, especially in recent years.

Manchester City 2-0 Everton Premier League September 24 2011
Substitutes Mario Balotelli and James Milner scored a goal each to earn the Citizens a home win
against Everton. After the game, City boss Roberto Mancini praised his wayward Italian striker,
saying: "Mario didn't start for three or four games but he has worked well, did not say anything
and he was waiting for this moment.

Phil your boots Phil Neville's getting prolific in his old age. He bagged his second goal this year
with the winner in last night's Carling Cup match against West Brom. The Everton skipper curled in
a left-footed effort from the edge of the box to secure a 2-1 win for the Toffees. It's come to

Everton 2 - 1 West Brom (aet) - Carling Cup.
Well I say nice, it wasn't a classic but always good to progress. Frustrating in parts but with
impressive performances from Drenthe, Velios and Fellaini and lovely goals from the Divine Afro and
Phil Neville (superstar, got more medals than Steve Gerrard).

We've had postmen, pub landlords and TV pundits, but Jonathan De Falco may well be the first
ex-professional footballer to turn to the porn industry after his career on the pitch has
ended.
The former Racing Mechelen player was forced to quit the game this year due to injury, and
rather than move into a more traditional ex-pro line of work, the 27-year-old decided to make the
most of his looks while he still had them, and become a gay porn star.
After spending a whole transfer window trying to offload fringe players and missing out on key
transfer targets due to inflated prices and a lack of squad spaces, Spurs fans must be astonished
by comments in Harry Redknapp's latest interview.
"If David wants to come to Tottenham I'd welcome him with open arms, he's definitely still good
enough to play in the Premier League"
This statement is a clear indication that there is no relationship between Harry and the board,
and further highlights the lack of vision Harry has for the future of our club.
It's the first Premiership game after an international break and the transfer deadline day
changes. Since we last played, Luke Young and Jean II Makoun headed for pastures new, but were
replaced by Alan Hutton and Jermaine Jenas.
Here's how the two managers are going to look for the points today:
Hutton replaces Chris Herd in the only change to the starting line-up against Wolves, but Jenas
doesn't make the 18.
By Phil Gregory You know the negativity surrounding Arsenal is getting a little silly when your
Everton-supporting boss bets you £10 that they will finish above Arsenal this season. Now, I know
we've lost a few players this summer, but for a club who's only summer signing is a contract
extension for Phil Neville, well.
Everton Shouldn't Panic Yet - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
We're told some Everton fans are desperate. In fact, we're told it's not just Everton fans, but
their Chairman too. Bill Kenright admitted as much to a supporters group, to discuss their
problems. Everton have exhausted their overdraft and the banks, probably sensibly, don't see any
reason to extend it.

Everton: The land that time forgot is a post from: Just Football
Transfers? Never heard of 'em. Not round here my friend. Jonah Loeb guides us through summer
at Goodison.
Goodison Park, the grand old ground of Everton FC, lies deserted. Crows gather
on the rafters to discuss the transfer market in caws and croaks; a miserable half-eaten pie lies
under a seat in the Gwladys End feeding the Evertonian flies.
Following a run of poor form in 2001 after being played behind the striker, Paul Scholes was
dropped from the starting XI for our trip to Anfield. Scholes came off the bench with ten minutes
to go but two goals from Michael Owen sealed a 3-1 defeat for United.
So angry was Scholes for being left out in favour of Butt and Veron, he refused to play in our
next game, which was against Arsenal in the League Cup.
