There is a good reason why I'm a mere football blogger and Louis Van Gaal is a successful football
manager and here's it is. When the news broke that Arjen Robben was signing for Bayern Munich I
scoffed. "Pah!" I said "What do Bayern need another winger for. They need an attacking central
midfielder, not competition for Franck Ribery.

The Netherlands became the first European team to book their place at the 2010 World Cup Finals at
the weekend after their 2-1 win over Iceland in Reykjavik. The Dutch maintained their 100% record

Group B: Croatia 1 - 0 Austria
In a very similar game to the Switzerland one yesterday, co-hosts Austria played very well against
favorites Croatia. Luka Modric, the 22 year old Croat who recently signed for Tottenham, scored
from the penalty spot in the 4th minute. The tackle by Aufhauser leading to the penalty was a
clumsy one and Croatia deserved their penalty.
