Two bits of A-League off field brilliance to make you weep this festive sesason.
Marcos Flores is brilliant - and still United couldn't win the league - well lets sign the Coach up
for four years and let Flores go.....
Loving the A-League business minds working hard around the country prior to the season and now the
chooks have come to roost.
Brisbane thrashed Perth Glory with a stunning display against arguably the most inept visitors
since....well Adelaide United.
How good do Wellington look compared to these two teams. And this a Perth team that did so well in
Melbourne just last week. What does that tell us about Melbourne?

A minute's silence was held prior to Melbourne Victory's league fixture vs. Perth Glory this
weekend, after it was announced that Luca Jones, son of Socceroo's goalkeeper Brad Jones
(above), had passed away.
Luca, who was five-years-old, had been battling leukaemia for eighteen months.
Good afternoon Victory fans. For some weird reason it feels like forever since my last post. This
week has kind of dragged on, but never mind because live football is upon us once again. We take on
Perth Glory at home tomorrow in a match where we really need to start bringing things together.
There's been a
In the A-League we love to sign foreign players - often has beens from the lower teams or divisions
of Europe or Brazil.
Are the Aussie's really any worse?
After seven years we have our proof.
Here's five, still running around that we really don't need anymore, if we ever did - and I bet
they get more coin than the local player they replace.
No work today I'm getting my fitness back Former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler has become quite the
journeyman. After leaving British football he spent two years in Australia with North Queensland
Fury and then Perth Glory, before this season ending up at Muang Thong United in the Thai Premier
League.
Match Report | Highlights
So this is what it feels like to win in the first round.
Perth Glory thoroughly deserved to have the three points from yesterday but the 1-0 scoreline would
suggest it was a close thing.
In fact Glory were dominate for about three quarters of the game, mounting attack after attack -
like waves.
I think it's safe to say that everyone who is a fan of the round ball game would have been relieved
the season has finally started.
They say that idle hands are the devil's playthings, so with six months of nothing you can imagine
the crap that has happened.
At least we can now focus on the football.
Welcome to the blog for today folks.
Righto no small talk, no chit chat, here is the first advertisement for the No Guts, No Glory
campaign. It was finally released yesterday afternoon (Perth time). Have a gander:
So what do you think? Love you to throw in your two cents worth in the comments section as well as
vote in the poll question in the side bar.
Hi all.
Welcome to ze blog. In most parts of the world it would just be an ordinary, boring, if not
tedious, Monday morning.
But with the boys in blue and yellow getting deconstructed (you could happily substitute that with
either smashed, mauled, clawed or demolished) on Saturday, there's this concept of Mad Monday to
contend with.
Hi all and welcome to this brief blog.
Perth Glory take on Sydney FC in another friendly tomorrow. Both sides lost their previous games
(Perth lost to Central Coast, Sydney to Newcastle) and this will be a chance to see where they are
at.
Mostly it will be noteworthy because of Brett Emerton, though Fairfax's Michael Cockerill focused
his pre-game story on youngster Terry Antonis.
Hi folks,
Welcome back to the blog.
It's pretty clear what will be the gimmick of Perth Glory's new advertising campaign, thanks to a
couple of things released by the club this week.
The first photograph shows what's underneath the "No Guts, No Glory" purple shirt, while the
"leaked" CCTV footage also shows people with shirts on their head.
Now the A-league has just two players this year, Harry and Emmo, so it should be more interesting
everyone tells me.
Well with Matthew Leckie, Marcus Flores and others having left who are the fellas who the Nearpost
is particularly looking forward to seeing take to the field in Season 7:
Melbourne Victory - Of course Harry Kewell, but I'm as interested to see how the young Kiwi Marco
Rojas goes.
Hi everybody,
Welcome to today's blog. Did you all have a decent weekend?
FP was out on the track for the final day of the races in town. It seemed like a ridiculously
indulgent day full of booze, women and more booze. Hopefully your weekend was just as fun.
So Perth Glory lost 1-0 on the weekend to Central Coast Mariners with a former Glory boy scoring
the goal.
Morning,
Welcome to the blog on this glorious Friday. In the office there is this bloke who feels the need
to use this auspicious day to play that terrible song.
It was one of few pieces of music that was universal panned and it honestly could remove paint from
walls, if needed.
Morning everyone,
Welcome to the blog.
So yours truly did end up going to the races yesterday. There was the usual mix of frocks, shocks
and quite a few jocks.
A few people even got lucky with their horses and it seemed like a grand old time was had by all.
But lady luck was not smiling in this direction.
Morning all,
Welcome to the blog. In the real world (away from computers) there's supposed to be a horse race or
two in town today.
More importantly, FP is told, there is supposed some fine fashion on display. Offices in this town
are known to shut down for the afternoon, just so the ladies can get out there and enjoy the
festivities.
Hi folks,
Welcome back to the blog, and it has been a long, long time. A lot has happened since this blog was
last active, most it being very, very bad. What the hell has gone wrong?
Too much, and hopefully with a basically new team, that will change this season.
More on that in later blogs, but for now lets get into more current news.

Inspired by Amir Sayoud's truly piss-poor effort that we had this misfortune of witnessing
yesterday (which, by rights, should be at the top of this list), here's our ten-strong run down of
the worst penalties of the modern era...
10.
While FP is getting mentally prepared to blog the next season for the A-League, there should
definitely be a quick mention of two Perth Glory pre-season games against State sides this
week.
The games will be played against Stirling Lions tomorrow (Wednesday, September 7) 7pm, at Macedonia
Park, Balcatta, and against Balcatta on Saturday 11am, at McGillivray Oval, Mt Claremont.
Sydney FC's build up to the pre-season has been Lavicka-esque.
Dull and duller.
Apart from the Harry talk - even that is subdued compared to Melbourne - what is there to reignite
the place.
The club needs excitement off the field, all year. And what have we got? Jamie Coyne!
Union and Football are the two codes trying/needing to increase their foothold in Australia.
Both have seen their domestic games take a fall in recent years - first Union with the short-lived
ARC and then football with the demise of a number of A-League clubs.
Union fell first - but may have picked itself up quickest - not least with the support of the
international S15.
Looking forward to watching our much-hyped Aussie Under20s at the World Cup.
These guys are professionals and all at clubs playing football so we should expect a lot more from
the players in terms of game understanding and individual performance - unless of course they have
played with Fergie and Perth Glory in the last couple of years.
We all saw the Brisbane Roar flying around the field last year, the Mariners were not far behind
and of course Melbourne and Adelaide always set a standard, often exciting.
Perth failed, failed to excite and this after being top of the boxing league after a few games.
Had a review - kept Iain Ferguson - and done the same.

Seems odd to me that a club would promote the game with current and former players - maybe even a
fan or two but I don't know all of these faces - guess most people won't - but no females
insight.
Great idea, great use of video - just misses half the potential fanbase!

After ditching Aussie's Perth Glory for pastures new last month, the man they call 'God' has
taken his divine presence to Thailand signing a contract with TPL champions Muang Thong United.
Apparently, Robbie left Perth as he didn't want to uproot his young family anymore, a return to
his native Thailand being the only sensible option.

The name Robbie Fowler will never be forgotten by Liverpool fans, who cherish memories of the
striker netting countless goals for the Anfield side. The Kop worshipped the ground the crafty
marksman walked on, and the now 36-year-old attacker has had a glorious career playing on
Merseyside, for Leeds, Manchester City and 26 times for England.
I was sad when Mr Flores left for China, he has so much skill - and then Bernie said Harry wasn't
coming. Harry has a fair bit of skill too - although he may yet turn up.
I'm a Celtic fan and although Liam Miller (not so much skill) signed for former Rangers player
Fergusons' Perth Glory I wasn't that happy about the stars of the new A-League season - albeit a
long long way off.
If Australia wants to win a World Cup then the style of play and individual performances at the U17
and U20 World Cups are always a good guide to how well or otherwise a national team might perform
in coming years and certainly to their style.
Australia has shouted long and loud about how we are going to change, indeed are changing our style
of play, but after todays performance the Kaz Patafta inspired U17 team of 2005 under Ange
Postecoglou was no worse than this performance.
Kewell the answer to A-League's Marquee Question? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The Hyundai A-League and by extension, the Football Federation of Australia reels from one
crisis to another. If it's not declining crowd numbers, owners threatening to close stands rather
than see empty seats, franchises folding, disastrous World Cup bids (corruption or not) or even
stars entering fan forums, then it's clubs failing to take advantage of the league's generous
marquee player policy.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has admitted he's dreaming of a coaching return to Anfield in the
future.
The former England international, who recently returned to the country as a forward coach with
Milton Keynes Dons and Bury, is currently taking his UEFA badges in an effort to extend his career
within the game.
Executives of A-League club Perth Glory gave supporters and members an insight into sports
marketing at a 'Fans Forum' today, illustrated by public disclosure of the costs of fielding a
professional football club based in the state of Western Australia. According to a report by Neil
Sherwin in The Football Sack, Chief Executive Paul Kelly said it now costs between A$8.
I am missing the A-League more this off season than any other. I watched the European Cup final
because I wanted to see something like our A-League. And there was Barcelona, with their over
privileged squad copying Brisbane. And Manchester United copying Perth Glory, with less effect.
Soccer, basketball and union have paid a high price for helping Foxtel, via access to unique
content, to become a commercially viable alternative TV source.
Australian A-League club Perth Glory has unveiled its 2011 home jersey from sportwear firm Blades
along with its 15th Anniverary logo. The club's new shirt is modeled by new signing Shane Smeltz.
According to the club's website: For the next two years Blades will be our new authentic apparel
sponsor.

""That (winning the ACL title) might take another two years now ... but we'll get
there."
Tony Sage said that - he did, he did he honestly did.
Is it any wonder he's losing money hand over fist and signing Travis Dodd, Dean Heffernan, Robbie
Fowler, Iain Ferguson, Evan Berger will scare the bejaysus out of the A-league never mind:
Kashima, Shandong, Gamba and co.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has made a sensational return to his former club after a spell
playing in the Australian A-League.
The ex-Reds striker who now plays for Perth Glory has been training with Liverpool in a bid to
maintain his fitness during the close-season.
With the new campaign not due to start until October, Fowler has joined the backroom staff at
League One side MK Dons, and will also spend time at League Two Bury assisting caretaker manager
Richie Barker in a coaching capacity.
Wayne Rooney set the benchmark to beat for the best goal in the Premiership season. It clinched
victory over crosstown rivals Citeh in dramatic fashion. In the most watched derby in Premiership
history. But Alex Terra's goal has been adjudged the best in the less celebrated confines of
A-League history.
When former Manchester United hero Dwight Yorke was first mentioned as a possible Sydney FC marquee
signing in the brand new A-League six years ago it was met with disbelief by a cynical
