By Graig Carbino - ALBANY, NY (Nov 19, 2009) USSoccerPlayers -- As someone watching a soccer game
from the perspective of "analyst," it would be nice to always come up with spellbinding ideas of
what worked and what didn't. We'd all like to have our own unique take on what just happened, why
and why not, and all that.

Is to wait and see how this one plays out. To the Columbus fans, welcome to the silly season.
Lest we forget, everything in the transfer window is dramatic with Guille. Remember when he first
came to Columbus? It took forever to get the deal signed, McCullers was back and forth, the deal
was announced before it was finalized, and yours truly was beside himself:
So McCullers can introduce this guy to the press.

To do it they had to come from behind to beat Hartwick.
With the victory over Hartwick, the No. 1-ranked Zips tied Evansville's mark for the
fourth-longest single-season win streak in NCAA history. The Zips have won three consecutive MAC
crowns and will find out their draw in the NCAA Division I Tournament Monday evening.

Sad reports are surfacing over the past hour that German national team goalkeeper Robert Enke has
committed suicide. We have not yet seen official confirmation and will continue to look for it, but
Enke reportedly had thrown himself under a train.
So, while we spend our days discussing David N'Gog's Tom Daley-esque diving skills and find humor
from all corners of this beautiful game, we sometimes need to put it all in perspective.

Northwest MO State Bearcats, Shannon Fitzgerald (2010)
I sat down with Shannon Fitzgerald last week, following her final college game for the Northwest
Missouri State Bearcats, a 2-1 loss to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. You may recall the short
update I did on Shannon and her teammates in late October
Shannon is a Catholic 2005 graduate who played on 2 State tournament teams for the Irish, and
played in 74 games for the Bearcats.

First off, I apologize to everyone for not being able to get a post-game analysis together for last
week. It was one of those times when life bitch-slapped my futbol blogging time. In the future, I
will, at a minimum, create posts where you all can share your own reactions and analyses, even if I
can't start your comments off with a comprehensive review from my perspective.

Watch this interview with a local reporter (Jared Lloyd/Desert News) who covered this match. He
points out that the "refs allowed" for a "physical game" - and offers a well informed perspective
on the tone of the game (explaining New Mexico's use of a physical style of play to break up BYU's
movement up and down the field).

What in the world is Pep wearing? This is certainly not his best moment in press conference attire,
or any occasion attire, for that matter.
We're mortified a bit. Why would you even glance twice at such an abysmal sweater - except to gawk
at it - let alone buy it and actually wear it? At a press conference in front of forty hundred
cameras?

The events of week 10 only serve to confirm just how exciting the English Premier League is. Though
not as competitive in terms of talent as the La Liga, the Premiership still remains the most
intriguing and captivating football league in the world.
Who would have thought that Burnley would be in the Top 4 for League's best home record.

Chivas USA 2 Galaxy 2
An entertaining if error-ridden game with all four goals coming from unmitigated howlers has
ended all square.
Alan Gordon missed a trio of chances for the Galaxy after coming on a as a second half sub that
could have made the difference, but Chivas USA had their own burden to bear with striker Justin
Braun seemingly intent on giving away virtually every ball he touched.

Gabriel Obertan has made a bright start to his Manchester United career, putting in a good
performance against Barnsley in the week and impressing during his half hour run against Blackburn
yesterday.
With ten minutes left to play and the game still at 1-0, Obertan had the opportunity to make it
a dream start when Valencia presented him with a chance to score from five yards out.

Arsenal won midweek in the Carling Cup 2-1 over Liverpool, so Liverpool are out, and Arsenal
advance.
Tomorrow morning is the North London Derby, and it's on ESPN 2 (8:30 a.m. Eastern, I believe).
The consecutive draws, in the two matches before the Carling Cup victory, were a pain, especially
the loss of the 0-2 lead against West Ham in the league.

Ok, so it has not been the best start to the season by a long way, but I am sick and tired of
reading on a daily basis people continually ripping into Liverpool and Rafa Benitez. Yeh we had a
good season last year (from a premier league perspective) and yeh we have not had the best of
starts to this years campaign, but to continually keep saying they are out of it and then the next
week they are back in it is starting to do my head in.

Guardian Headline: Phil Brown has insisted that his players are "a million per cent" behind him
despite speculation mounting that his job as Hull City's manager is under threat.
Yes, of course the players are a million percent behind me; even though the media wants to drop an
H-Bomb right over Kingston-upon-Hull, my players know that I am the greatest manager who has ever
lived.

And so to the League Cup, in some ways a chance to put the Stoke defeat behind us but these days
the midweek cup bears little resemblance to the issues facing us or any Prem team in the league.
From Everton's perspective a kick-about in the Goodison car park has a greater priority than this
evening's [.

Who would have thought Chelsea would be hosting Atletico Madrid in the Champions League group
stages, and the press would be viewing it as somewhat of a relief for the hosts. Wasn't this side
supposed to be the Blues' main challengers in Group D?
That's just how bad Madrid have been thus far this season.

While everyone was busy anxiously awaiting FIFA's latest release and the seeding for the playoff
spots, UEFA was busy concocting a ranking of their own and releasing it under unsuspecting eyes. At
this point it means little and will only serve to put Euro 2012 qualifying seeding into
perspective, still some way off yet, but it's always interesting to see how others differ from the
entirely rubbish FIFA ranking system.

Looking at things from an outside perspective, what you see is this: most of the squad just
returned from an exhausting international break, and directly went head to head with a top La Liga
team, playing away without two of our star forwards. And we still managed a draw. Sounds pretty
good, doesn't it?

After a very disappointing summer, things seem to start looking up for our Club, at least from a
financial perspective.
The Stg 80 million 4-year shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered is done and dusted, and
the re-financing negotiations with RBS and Wachovia included some measures prone to reduce the
liabilities of the Club.
