The 2012 January transfer window was a rather more sedate affair than it's 2011 predecessor.
Money was spent much more sensibly this time around as opposed to being thrown around like a
compulsive gambler who had hacked into a free bets website.
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez did not get a move away from the Etihad and Manchester
United did not break the bank to sign Wesley Sneijder.

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday the club has traded the MLS right of first refusal
on defender Wilman Conde to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for allocation money. If this kind
of deal doesn't make sense to you, be sure to give this story a read. More after the break.
New York has agreed to personal terms with the out-of-contract Conde and he will be added to the
Red Bull's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
Leeds United have signed MLS star Robbie Rogers on an 18-month contract from Columbus Crew.
The 24-year agreed personal terms on January 10 but had to wait for his work permit to be approved
before he could become officially part of the squad at Elland Road.
Rogers was given a taste of football in England in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Newcastle
last week but was unable to feature for the reserves because not all of his paperwork had been
completed.
Queens Park Rangers apparently can't afford Alex. Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, certainly can.
I guess that solves that then, in my skewed mind at least.
A reunion?
The protracted transfer of Alex away from Chelsea drags on.
News today arrives in two parts.
Ducky's Note: Ratna Prashanth analyzes Cahill's signing and what it means
for Chelsea
Finally, after a loooooong discussion of personal terms, Chelsea announced the signing of Bolton
Wanderers' English-born central defender Gary Cahill. This is a much needed signing at a low price
in January market, considering the fact that Chelsea have been having a torrid time with their
defence the whole season.
It's done.
No, really. I'm serious, man. Just take a glance at the image below. Look, I swear it's not
photoshopped. Look at his hair. I mean, how could I 'shop that?
Jack Bauer stylings
From now forth or at least until he fucks up Gary Cahill is a Chelsea player.
West London giants Chelsea have finally completed the signing of England centre back Gary Cahill
from fellow Premier League side Bolton Wanderers after a protracted transfer negotiation with the
player over personal terms. Having completed a medical examination at the weekend, Cahill now joins
Chelsea's star studded squad as they look to get their title challenge back on track - and at just
26 may be viewed by the club as a long term replacement for fellow England defender John Terry at
Stamford Bridge.
We can now officially take off all those Arsenal linked to Gary Cahill reports. The Bolton
Wanderers centre back is finally installed at Stamford Bridge for a reported £7m. There were some
rumblings with personal terms and it is thought Cahill pockets £20,000 less than expected in
weekly wages.

Gary Cahill has finally signed for Chelsea. He will wear the number 24 shirt.
The most drawn out
transfer saga of this window has finally been concluded as personal terms
were agreed and a medical passed on Saturday morning. Speaking of the deal Cahill is quoted on the
official Chelsea website saying:
'Chelsea is a massive club, it is a club that looks to win trophies season in season
out and it is a big opportunity for me to be a part of that.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is hopeful of signing Leicester City defender Sean St Ledger after
agreeing a fee as well as personal terms with the player.
But Jewell says the 27-year-old Irish international, who has made eight league starts this term,
has a number of offers to consider.
According to the media, the most drawn out transfer saga of the window so far looks like coming to
a close with news that Chelsea and Gary Cahill are now in agreement over the players personal
terms.
Alot has been made of this in recent weeks with news that he was demanding around £100k per week
which was denied by the player.
Everyone has a price at For Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill his is a £4 million signing
on fee and a £100,000 every weekly wage if Chelsea wish to acquire his services.
Cahill has long been a Chelsea target however, his 'over the top' demands could scupper a
potential move to the London club.
I think there is one question we are all asking at the moment and that's the situation with the
Gary Cahill transfer from Bolton.
We know the
fee was agreed last week and the player and his representatives were discussing
personal terms with Chelsea but then we heard from AVB that both sides were
"a million miles
apart" when it came to finalising a deal for the young international centre back.
Liverpool is trying to gazump Chelsea's move for Gary Cahill.
The highly-rated Bolton and England defender, 26, had been expected to join the Blues after a
£7milllion transfer fee was agreed this week.
But the bid was threatened by a disagreement over personal terms and Kenny Dalglish is poised to
swoop.
The defender had been set to move to Chelsea for a fee rumoured to be around the £7 million
mark. Complications began when personal terms were discussed. It appears that Gary Cahill's
representatives believed the player was worthy of a far more lucrative contract than Chelsea were
willing to offer him.

This right here is a shocker. Eh, not really.
The club today confirmed that it had agreed a fee with Bolton for Gary Cahill. It's not a done
deal yet, though, with personal terms still far off between the two parties.

With only days remaining until the January transfer window opens, club owners and managers are
readying their chequebook and pens (real ones, mind, not the Blankety Blank variety), as they
prepare to make those vital signings to bolster a title tilt or save themselves from a relegation
dogfight.
Every single media outlet has now confirmed that Chelsea have agreed a fee with Bolton for the
transfer of Gary Cahill. The fee is around £7m.
Bolton Boss Owen Coyle confirmed the deal was in place and said:
"There has been a fee agreed between the clubs and we have now given Gary's
representatives permission to speak to Chelsea.

It's common knowledge that AVB wants Gary Cahill and late last night The Mirror broke an
"Exclusive" stating that a fee of £7m that has been touted about HAS been agreed between Bolton
and Chelsea and it's now in the hands of the players agent and Chelsea's Ron Gourlay to thrash out
personal terms.
It's official! Want away Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez will join Italian giants AC Milan
on January 2nd on a loan deal that will see him earn 3 million Euros for the 5 months to the
season's end in May 2012 .
Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani revealed this yesterday stating that club had agreed to
personal terms with Tevez.
Gems of the Lower Leagues: Charlie Austin is a post from: Just Football
by Ally Poole
Charlie Austin has made a meteoric leap from being a bricklayer playing for
part-time Poole Town as late as September 2009 to free-scoring striker for Burnley
in the Championship.
The news that Jack Wilshere could be out for another 8 weeks started the usual he said she said
between Fabio Capello and the club. From a fan's perspective it really makes no difference.
The fact is Wilshere is not coming back till early November at the earliest with the caveat that
these predictions are not exact science so his return could be delayed even further.
A few things have shaken out this summer. The inability of Arsenal to hold onto their marquee
players who overtly cite the lack of titles as their reason for moving on while also negotiating
better personal terms with their new owners seems to be the new reality. Arsenal's restrictive wage
structure in this free market economy is seen as a liability as they bleed players to clubs who
pony up without ceilings.
Phil Jones was a transfer target for several top clubs this summer, however, as soon as personal
terms were agreed with United, he showed no interest in talking to any other club. In fact,
Liverpool were so desperate to sign him, they offered Blackburn another £6m on the price we had
offered for him, but the player declined to talk to them.
Liverpool FC have just announced that Craig Bellamy is now a Liverpool player.
He has passed his medical and agreed personal terms with our club, more to follow...
Peter Crouch might be on his way to Stoke
Peter Crouch might be Stoke bound with only personal terms to be ironed out. Sebastian Bassong
is now a QPR man. Alan Hutton and Jermaine Jenas have been strongly linked to Aston Villa. Wilson
Palacios and Roman Pavlyuchenko could also be on their way out.
Craig Bellamy leaves Wales camp to undergo Liverpool medical
• Welsh FA grants striker permission to travel to Merseyside • Manchester City expected to
let him leave on free transfer • Follow transfer deadline day with our live blog Craig Bellamy's
proposed transfer to Liverpool has moved closer after the Welsh FA granted him permission to leave
their international training camp to undergo a medical on Merseyside.
Another hectic transfer deadline day today, with several interesting transfers currently taking
place. Diego Forlan has joined Inter Milan from Atletico Madrid, with Forlan previously being
linked to Tottenham Hotspur. I think this move is a bit of a shame as he has undoubted quality and
would have loved to have seen him play in the Premier League again, where he got so much stick for
his time with Man United.
Poulsen Completes Move to Evian
Christian Poulsen has passed a medical agreed personal terms with French Ligue 1 side Evian
Thonon Gaillard, the club has confirmed this afternoon. The Dane had originally been touted to move
to Spanish side Espanyol, but Evian ultimately beat them to his signature.

A quick round-up of where we stand on various transfers as we approach the final few hours of
the summer transfer window:
Ju Young Park was officially announced this afternoon, the arrival
means that the exit of Nicklas Bendtner is more probable, though nothing is
currently in place.
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham striker Peter Crouch is on the verge of a
transfer to Sunderland. The Black Cats have been extremely busy over the summer transfer window,
and with Crouch failing to impress recently at White Hart Lane Steve Bruce is ready to sign the
English international.
Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Brazil left-back Andre Santos and are in talks
for Werder Bremen centre-back Per Mertesacker.
The Gunners have agreed a fee with Turkish giants Fenerbahce for Santos reportedly £6.2 million
with the move subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.
Despite what has turned out to be a tardy entrance to the party from AS Roma, it looks like Michael
Bradley is now set to join Chievo. I am still trying to firm up the details, but I've been told
from multiple unconnected places that the U.S. midfielder agreed to personal terms with the Serie A
side on Friday and the clubs have now also come to a deal.
FC Dallas defender George John was all set for a transfer move to English club Blackburn, and
had done everything but sign a contract with the club only to have Blackburn back out and pass on
the standout MLS centerback over the weekend.
According to multiple sources, MLS and Blackburn had agreed to terms on the transfer, which was
to be for about $1.
