Yesterday's Fire news was firmly in the "not good" category. In case you haven't heard, Josip
Mikulic is not with the team as he attends to personal issues. He may never return to the club.
Combine this with Yamith Cuesta suddenly being gone (loan ended; Fire opted not to buy) the back
line is suddenly very, very thin.

SINGAPORE, 17 JANUARY 2012 – The selection committee
identified and interviewed a handful of candidates for the position of S.
In sport, reputation can be crystallised or destroyed in one match. Claudio Gentile was
unfairly recognised as a hard-man outside Italy for his savage treatment of Diego Maradona (and
then Zico in the next game) in the 1982 World Cup but here was a player who was fantastically more
all-rounded than that one game made him.

This will be a grown up post.
BR has had many years of intensive therapy following which has been able to overcome most of his
childhood resentments. If he can come to terms with personal issues then surely it is possible to
find it in his heart to cease a lifelong hatred of a Leeds team which went out of existence 40
years ago?
I'm not going to bother you with my personal issues this time (it's going to be couples
therapy), but my God, what a game.
I told you last week we were at that school, right? Last Saturday we were using that same field,
but now there were at least a thousand people, maybe more. Everybody was dressed up to go to a
fancy AC New Years Party, there was a great atmosphere.
Gasperini lastest victim of "Mourinho's Curse" - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
With Gian Piero Gasperini's dismissal as Inter Milan manager, the Mourinho's Curse has claimed
it's latest victim. Since his appointment at FC Porto, full-time successors have struggled to cope
with the expectations of a Mourinho coached side.
Last Saturday, D.C. United gutted out a 2-0 at San Jose. Dwayne De Rosario's two second half
goals gave D.C. a lead in a frustrating game for both teams. It was only after Andy Najar was sent
off for a professional foul that San Jose seized the initiative, but a committed rear-guard
performance saw D.
I found myself wondering this morning about what might next remove David Beckham from an MLS
match? A trip back to the old stomping grounds just to stare at that statue of Sir Matt Busby
outside fabled Old Trafford, perhaps? A chance to put his arm around old mate Ryan Giggs, who's
having some personal issues keeping his name out of the news?
The busy weekend turned out to be busier than I'd imagined forcing me to miss the game and I
wasn't able to catch it till late on Sunday night. Apologies for the delay in this report but as
you understand sometimes personal issues have to be prioritized.
Watching such a crunch game after knowing the gut-wrenching result is not a good thing.
It is two hours to the home opener and Los Angeles has become the south pacific. My wife laid
down in no uncertain terms that I am not subjecting my children to two hours of this weather, not
even for our beloved Galaxy. After stepping outside for only a couple of minutes, I am frankly
surprised the game is still on.
At first glance it was a fairly simple goal. A deep cross by Patrice Evra was aimed towards a
crowd of expectant players but as Darren Fletcher flung himself towards it, everybody thought it
was going to be his ball. His leap was imperious but the cross agonisingly evaded his contact and
fell like a bouquet of flowers - onto the head of Wayne Rooney who was lurking behind him.
