Persija find themselves bottom of the ISL with just one win from seven games and coach Iwan Setiawan coming under increasing fire as he seems unable to halt the slide.
Persija finally put some daylight between themselves and the relegation places after they defeated Barito Putra in Solo yesterday. The visitors had taken the lead through Rizky Ripora and that was how things remained till the second half when Persija got their act together.
Fabiano, reconciled with the club after doubts over his future, levelled things on 50 minutes before the new signings took over.

Persib came from behind to crush PSPS at Siliwangi Stadium while it would come as no surprise at all to learn both Papuan teams won their home games.
The official IPL website still insists on calling them Persija even though a court last year ruled they can no longer be known by that name...but it's only the law, right? Then again the official website rather optimistically says Persija will play at Bung Karno this weekend.
Seven years after the Indonesian capital province (DKI) destroyed the home ground of its leading football club, the 85-years-old Persija, to create the Menteng inner-city park, an allocation of US$110 million has been made to build an iconic stadium for the club in north Jakarta. The 2-year project will create a FIFA-standard international venue with a capacity of 50,000 spectators.
Jakarta will being construction of a "world-class" football stadium for the capital's Persija football club next year, Governor Joko Widodo said on Monday.
The Rp 1.05 trillion ($109 million) stadium will be constructed in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, and is expected to near completion in 2014.
It's not often things make sense in Indonesian football but for Persija to 'host' PSPS yesterday in
Samarinda did.
Persija of course are not being allowed to play games in Jakarta following the deaths of three fans
at their recent home game against Persib and while PSPS was never going to be a high risk game with
large numbers of travelling fans, the security officials, rather than actually do their job,
preferred to just say niet.
Following on from last weekend's tragedy at Bung Karno when three fans died following a brawl at
the Persija v Persib, was anybody really expecting anyone out there to do anything about it?
Nope, didn't think there would be.
Another death at the weekend. Persebaya hosted Persija (the one with no fans) in Surabaya and in
disturbances after the game a fan of the home team was killed in a stampede.
Following the deaths of three fans last week at the Persija v Persib game in Jakarta, Persija have
been forced to play their next home game against PSPS in Cilegon behind closed doors.
It will be Persija's fourth home game outside of Jakarta. Previous games have been played in
Yogyakarta and Malang.

Not for the first time in living memory Persija Jakarta are being forced to play home games far
from their home town. This time it's their next two home games which have been moved to Manahan
Stadium in Solo. The reason? Apparently there are large demonstrations or marches being scheduled
in Jakarta to commemorate May Day.
The name is the same as is the club crest and they both have had difficulties playing in their
home city of Jakarta but that's where the similarities end. In the eyes of the fans Persija
(Indonesia Premier League (official league)) and Persija (Indonesia Super League (unofficial
league)) are two very different entities.
Persika v Persipasi 0-1 (Roderique Wallace) PSSB v PSBL 1-0 (Zikri) Persekap v PSBI 1-0 (Mustain) Persis v Persires 2-1 (Feriyanto, Onana; Lubis)
Usual chaos surrounding this league with some of the scheduled games being called off including, apparently, Persikota's against Persipon because they decided not to enter the league after all!
A few years back the PSSI listed players they had put on their blacklist who could not play in the country again. They did of course but you know what a I mean.
According the Indonesian footballers' union the following clubs have either been late playing salaries or have not paid contracts up in full.
Persiram v Persisam 2-0 (James Koko Lomell, Soung Yong) 2,159 Persidafon v Mitra Kukar 0-2 (Jajang Maulyana, Frangipane) 600 Persiwa v Persija 2-0 (Vali Kenari, Yong Han) 3,375 Persib v Persegres 3-1 (Kenji Adichihara, M Ridwan, Sergio Van Dijk; Ambiring) 22,800 Persipura v PSPS 5-0 Ian Kabes, Boas Solossa 2, I Wanggai, Dutra) 18,233 Persepam v Pelita Bandung Raya 1-1 (Osas Marvelous; Gaston Castano) 12,389 Persela v Sriwijaya 1-2 (Samsul Arief; Tantan, Hilton Moreira) 11,157 Persita v Arema 0-1 (Cristian Gonzalez) 8,023 Persipura v Persija 1-0 (Boas Solossa) 17,560 Persiwa v PSPS 3-0 (Ferdinand Mote, Guy Junior 2) 2,875 Persib v Barito Putra 3-2 (Maman Abdulrahman, Sergio Van Dijk, Herman Abanda; Dedy Hartono, Sugeng) 14,575
OK these results come from last Saturday until yesterday and there aren't many surprises.
Last night's Indonesia Premier League game between Persema and Persija never happened. The home
team never bothered turning up, they're on strike because they haven't been paid for yonks so the
visitors sat around the dug out for a while before returning to their hotel.
The game should be awarded to Persija 3-0 but who knows in la la land.
Following the riot after Persipura's 1-0 home defeat by Persija, which saw the visiting team forced
to leave the stadium three hours after the game ended by boat, the Indonesia Super League in their
wisdom have seen fit to impose no sanction on the home team.
I've been calling for a Singapore team to play in Malaysia for several years. Singapore is safe,
dull and nice. Aggression in Singapore is whining on internet forums or pushing past people to get
on the MRT or to the head of a queue at a sale. Not the best environment for building a football
team that can develop beyond their own borders.
Complaining about referees in Indonesia is rather like saying the weather is a bit unpredictable in
Manchester. The pea blowers are back in the news for the usual reasons...well, one is.
Following a 0-0 draw between Persija and Persisam the home coach was so pissed off he quit, blaming
the ref! He came back a few days later mind.
After a truly woeful start to the season for Persija which sees them bottom of the Indonesia Super League coach Iwan Setiawan has stepped down and the hunt is on for his replacement.
Names in the hat include former coach Benny Dollo, Bambang Nurdiansyah, Carlos de Mello and Gomez de Oliveria according to a guy from the Persija fan club!
Pre season just wouldn't be pre season without mess at Persija. In recent years they have been taken over by a mysterious businessmen who promised much but delivered nothing and split, amoeba like, into separate identities sharing the same name but little else.
This year? No money.
Yeah I know, pretty tame by their high standards of farce but serious enough to have kept two long serving stalwarts, Bambang Pamungkas and Ismed Sofyan, away from pre season training.
There will be a slight Singapore feel to Persiba this season. They have brought in Precious Emeujeraye (former Woodlands Wellington, Sriwijaya, Persija) and Luca Savic (Young Lions, SAFFC, Barcelona) as part of a rebuilding that has seen coach Hans Peter Schaller leave along with a host of big names.
It's been one hell of a confusing season for Arema fans. Two teams, players who have interchanged
between the two, both starting the season badly.
The fans responded by staying away which is something I don't understand. They like to say they are
the best fans in the land, and indeed have won awards twice for that, but then when their team lose
a game or two they don't bother.
Diego Michiels was one of the handful of players brought over by the Indonesian Football
Association (PSSI) to add some zest to what had become a predictable national team.
With an Indonesian father, Michiels was eligible and to press his claims he gave up his career in
the Netherlands, where he played for Go Ahead Eagles, and was snapped up by Pelita Jaya.
Persebaya fans greet their Persitara counterparts
Persebaya's notorious support, known as Bonek, are in the news again. This time though the news
isn't about rioting fans or supporters falling off trains. Instead the news is positive. At a time
when Indonesian football is just another synonym for disaster the fans of Persebaya Surabaya are
being held up as a positive.

A late penalty for home team in Balikpapan helped Persiba claw back a two goal deficit. Persija
complained long and hard but they should also take a good look at themselves for their marking, or
lack thereof, that allowed the equaliser deep in injury time.
And just now we witnessed Arema scoring a late winner against Pelita Jaya.
Persija's awful first half of the season has been well documented. Just three wins leave them rooted to the bottom of the Indonesia Super League.
PSPS are two places and two points above them but it looks like things are worse in Pekanbaru than Jakarta. I obvioulsy don't know that for sure but when Rohit Chand, M Ilham and Glen Poulakan bail out of Sumatra for the capital city putting one and one together isn't that difficult.

Arema v Persegres 0-0 34,126
Must be a shock defeat for Persija. Played at PTIK Stadium in Jakarta 'cos no fans allowed due to
political campaigning. Arema report will be added later but here are some pictures on Asian
Football Pictures.
