CAIDO DEL CIELO

TREMENDAMENTE MOTIVADOS 10 October @ 02:55 PM EST
PICO Y PALA

TREMENDAMENTE MOTIVADOS 06 October @ 05:21 PM EST
Click to continue reading...

Astrada a Ríver.

MILAGROS INESPERADOS

TREMENDAMENTE MOTIVADOS 29 September @ 11:34 AM EST
Click to continue reading...

Goles Son Amores

Auto Golazo 15 September @ 11:44 PM EST
Entonces algun titulo? Click to continue reading...

POR PELOTUDOS

TREMENDAMENTE MOTIVADOS 14 September @ 11:48 AM EST

Mid Season Review part 2: Departures

DCUMD 03 July @ 10:12 AM EST
This is our second of four posts in review of the moves DC United has made since the end of last season. Last week we looked at their acquisitions, today we'll look at the players who departed, and then later we'll look at their trades.
1. It's hard to imagine how different DC United's season would be had they retained Marcelo Gallardo in 2009. Click to continue reading...

Click to continue reading...

Roster reset

DCUMD 28 December @ 12:19 PM EST
What better way to end 2008 than to post one of my patented roster resets. Things have changed dramatically around here with the new roster rules for 2009, but I think it's important to take a look at where United stands at the moment, if only just to highlight how many question marks there are going into next season.

Click to continue reading...

The offseason to date

DCUMD 16 December @ 10:53 PM EST
I feel like a disgrace for neglecting my wonderful but few readers during this time of year when there is so little else to read in MLS circles. With this blog's constant focus on United roster developments, this should be my Super Bowl! But instead I've been wasting away on the pine. A few life changes have revised my priorities slightly (I'm a new father! Click to continue reading...

The End

DCUMD 27 October @ 05:49 AM EST
As United's season draws to a disappointing but not unexpected completion, you can't help but wonder about what could have been. There are plenty of "what ifs" we could discuss for the entire year, but there's no point in going back and mentioning Moreno's missed penalty in August against the Red Bulls. Award 8: The Popie

DCUMD 21 October @ 02:42 PM EST
By definition, the Popie Award goes to the DC United defender of the year. I think this category is pretty self explanatory. The award's namesake Eddie Pope was the MLS Defender of the Year in 1997, and anchored our team in central defense from 1996 to 2002. Pope remains a member of the MLS All-Time Best XI. Embarassment

DCUMD 05 October @ 06:54 AM EST
It seems like everyone in the stadium knew that this was a must-win game for DC United, except for anybody wearing black. What ever happened to being "hard to play against"? Wasn't that always Soehn's philosophy? This team was fairly easy to play against last night, making bad passes all over the field, including one that probably cost us all hopes of continuing our season. Click to continue reading...

A respectable performance, but still no points

DCUMD 25 September @ 05:36 AM EST
After 60 minutes of this match, I was all ready to come on here and say I was wrong about wanting to punt the CCL. A goalless draw would have been a wonderful result. But as is typical with this club, we let up 2 soft goals off of shotty defending. And now we're staring up from the bottom of a fully stacked group. Click to continue reading...

Champions League game #2: DCU @ Marathon

Behind the Badge 24 September @ 11:15 AM EST

D.C. United faces Club Deportivo Marathon for the first time in its history tonight at Estadio Olimpico in a game that will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel (10 p.m. ET). The Black-and-Red hope to rebound from a Group A opening 2-0 loss to Deportivo Saprissa last week at RFK Stadium. Cruz Azul, who lost to Marathon in Honduras last week 2-0, defeated Saprissa 4-0 last night in Mexico.

Award 2: The Nelly

DCUMD 09 September @ 03:58 PM EST
By definition, the Nelly Award goes to the player who is new to the team this year and has made the most significant positive impact. The award's namesake Ryan Nelsen emerged as a star defender in the MLS shortly after joining the team, and served as United's captain during the 2004 championship run. Click to continue reading...

First Impressions - San Jose Earthquakes 2 : 1 D.C. United

The DCenters 06 September @ 11:25 PM EST

So Moreno is hanging out with Butch and Sundance, and Emilio's hurt, and I'm thinking, "Well, with Crayton in goal and the steadying presence of Bryan Namoff, Peralta and the new infusion of energy from Joe Vide, perhaps we can eek out a goal on a counter while keeping San Jose at nil." Except, of course, we have neither Namoff nor Vide nor Peralta, and Martinez was clearly watching his "Best of Facundo Erpen" highlight reel.

I think we all saw this coming

DCUMD 06 September @ 11:03 PM EST
In a match where we were missing Emilio, Moreno, Namoff, Fred, Vide, and Peralta, a loss wasn't necessarily surprising. I guess the bright side is that we escaped without any more injuries! Also, I saw tonight that we've got some young players with a lot of heart, and that's got to count for something, even if it didn't earn us any points. Click to continue reading...

MLS Game #23: DCU @ San Jose

Behind the Badge 06 September @ 11:27 AM EST

While United supporters recovered Thursday from a night of celebrating their club's U.S. Open Cup victory, the team packed their bags and flew cross-country to begin preperations for tonight's League match against San Jose. It's tough sledding for the Black-and-Red this weekend. United faithful in the Nation's Capital are dealing with Hurricane Hanna.

Tony's Take: Seizing the Day

Behind the Badge 25 August @ 09:30 AM EST

Prior to D.C. United's victory over the Colorado Rapids I honestly predicted the final score to be, D.C. United 3 – Colorado 0. Now, it's true that I always predict that D.C. United will win 3-0, but for the first time since August 5th of last season I was correct. I owe it all to Quavas Kirk.

DC United Advances to the US Open Cup Finals

Gruffgoat's Football Blog 13 August @ 07:26 PM EST
After attending the DC United match last night against the New England Revolution I left with a sense of happiness that has not been with me after a game in a long time. United played with a quality I haven't seen since before the start of SuperLiga. Having Quaranta and Peralta back at full strength didn't hurt at all either. Click to continue reading...

Taking on the Evil Empire

Down the Byline 01 August @ 08:25 PM EST
Yes, I know this is from last year, but it's still great.
Anyways, the Wizards travel to DC this weekend to take on United. The two teams come in going in entirely different directions. The Wizards are undefeated in their last 6 games (2-0-4). DC on the other hand has lost their last 4 games, all at home. Click to continue reading...

Mid-Season Review part 1: Acquisitions

DCUMD 26 July @ 11:05 AM EST
Given the focus that this blog has given to United's roster this year, I thought it would be appropriate to base our Mid-Season Review specifically on the roster moves that the team has made. In part 1, we will look at United's acquisitions, meaning the players that the team added since the end of last season that they didn't have to give up anything for. Click to continue reading...
