FA disciplinary panels can expect plenty of overtime next season if Manuel Pellegrini succeeds in bringing Pepe to the Premier League. The Malaga boss is widely expected to become Manchester City's new manager and reports in the Spanish media suggest that he wants to make the Real Madrid defender his first signing.
Liverpool's Jay Spearing has a great opportunity to further his career after the youngster
joined Owen Coyle's Bolton Wanderers on transfer deadline day. The loan move is just the latest in
a number of young midfielders Coyle has helped develop at the club.
Spearing, who signed a new contract with Liverpool back in May, has dropped down the pecking
order at Anfield following the £15m arrival of Joe Allen.
Sky Sports understands Liverpool is hopeful of signing Yossi Benayoun from Chelsea on a season-long
loan.
The 32-year-old is desperate for a move away from Stamford Bridge after being told by manager
Roberto Di Matteo that he was not part of his plans.
Benayoun has a year left on his £70,000-a-week contract, but is determined to exit Stamford Bridge
after dropping down the pecking order with the club bringing in Eden Hazard and Oscar.
Arsenal's hopes of securing Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien are seemingly given a boost by the
Blues' decision to omit the Ghana international from their match-day squad against Atletico Madrid
in the UEFA Super Cup.
Essien was not part of the team that will be fighting for Chelsea's first trophy of the season
in Monaco this evening, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger reportedly looking for a shock swoop as
early as yesterday.
Sky Sports understands Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing has agreed to join Bolton on loan.
Skysports.com revealed earlier this week Bolton were one of five clubs hoping to sign Spearing
before Friday's transfer deadline.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is a big admirer of Spearing and sees him as a key addition to his side as
he look to mount a bid for promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is undergoing a medical at Fulham, their manager Martin
Jol has confirmed. Berbatov is a former Premier League Golden Boot Winner but has fallen down the
pecking order at Manchester United with the recent arrivals and ... Continue reading →
Nottingham Forest fans should be delighted with the news defender Danny Collins has been brought
into a new-look squad.
The centre-half, who can also play at full-back, signed from Stoke City this week after it came
apparent he was not part of Tony Pulis' plans.
With Forest, who hope to win promotion and be back amongst the Betfair Premier League tips in the
near future, now under new mega-rich ownership in the form of Kuwait's Al Hasawi family, fans could
have been fantasising over big-money signings flooding into the club.

the vanity of the Premier League, his surname translates as 'mirror'. What's the deal? The Swiss

Johan Djourou's agent Flavio Ferraria has hinted that his client is on the wish
list of several European clubs, including Italian outfit Napoli.
The 25-year-old centre-half is currently on a long-term deal at Arsenal but is not considered an
integral part of the club's first team squad any more, with Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and
Per Mertesacker ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Blockbuster Football weekend is upon us all again, and you'd better believe that the insanely contented Andre Arshavin in all his lazy, millionaire substitute glory may not even make the bench against Man City tomorrow. According to well-placed sources, Arshavin also became the highest-paid player at the Emirates Stadium (£90,000 a week) after the departure of Van Persie, which explains why he hadn't bothered to push for a move or return to Zenit this season.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to make another move to bring Daniel Sturridge to Anfield
- with a deal for Chelsea forward believed to be within touching distance at last.
Sources close to the Reds have told ESPN that Rodgers has been pursuing Sturridge all summer, with
the glut of attacking midfield signings at Chelsea this summer pushing the Team GB Olympic star
down the pecking order of Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo.

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has identified three players that he hopes will turn the club
into Champions League challengers.
The former Swansea boss, believed to be working off a budget of £30 million pounds has already
been linked with a move for Hoffenheim star Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Icelandic International had been earmarked for a move to the Liberty Stadium following an
impressive loan spell with Swansea last season however he could now move to Anfield with Rodgers
declaring his interest in the player.
Galatasaray have confirmed their interest in signing Real Madrid midfielders Kaka and Nuri
Sahin. The Brazilian midfielder is expected to depart the Santiago Bernabeu should the La Liga
champions complete the signing of Luka Modric from Tottenham.
German-born Turkish international Sahin has also fallen down the pecking order in the Spanish
capital and Jose Mourinho has indicated that he will be allowed to spend a season on loan
elsewhere.
At least three players have now been mentioned as potential makeweights as part of a deal taking
Luka Modric to Real Madrid and centre half Ricardo Cavalho is just one of those. However, the
suggestion that he may be on his way to White Hart Lane has intensified with reports that the
Portuguese is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.
In the 2010 World Cup second round, Spain went with a 4-4-2 with Fernando Torres paired up with
David Villa followed later by Fernando Llorente giving the Barca striker company. Villa scored the
winner in the 63rd minute but it was Llorente who caught the eye with his physical and almost manic
presence.
Rodgers is keen to bring the Chelsea striker to Anfield and will happily move on Charlie Adam and
Stewart Downing to help pay for him.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is lining up a last-minute swoop for Chelsea striker Daniel
Sturridge.
Rodgers will have to pull off a massive clear-out at Anfield to get the proposed £15million deal
done though.
Roberto Di Matteo admits that Chelsea are in the hunt to sign unsettled Wigan forward, Victor
Moses, but have yet to match the Latics' valuation.
Wigan chairman, Dave Whelan, recently revealed to the news sport on Bet365 that the club had
rejected a third bid from the Blues, thought to be £5million, and are holding out for a more
substantial fee for the talented 21-year-old.

Things didn't start on a positive note for Man United after their 0-1 opening
defeat to Everton yesterday and it appears even the club's own kitman
hadn't expected "Andesron" to come on, after a terrible season (he was an unused
substitute).
Looks like Real are ready to ship Nuri Sahin over on a year loan move but are balking at
Arsenal's insistence that the contract include the possibility of buying him out on a permanent
deal at the end of the stay.
Real is playing it safe in case Sahin finds form and some of the other midfielders that he
slipped down the pecking order either leave, get injured, or don't play to par.
* It was an interesting line-up that hinted at the current pecking order within the Arsenal squad.
Jenkinson is going to be given a chance at right-back in Sagna's absence, rather than Coquelin or
Yennaris being asked to fill in. Gibbs is currently a starter ahead of Santos, and Diaby will
probably be preferred to Ramsey, if it comes down to a choice between the two.
Perhaps not as glamorous as a marquee striker or midfielder, as what we've come to expect from
MLS teams in the recent years, but I think, if anything, these past two road games have shown that
the Portland Timbers desperately need to bring in a marquee, veteran defender to command and lead
the back line.
Jack McInerney's controversial red card, handed out against the Montreal Impact for his
involvement the post-Martin Rivas headbutt 'scrum,' has left a hole at the starting false nine or
central advanced forward role in the Philadelphia Union's hybrid 4-3-3.
The Union's options to replace McInerney have little starting experience in Philadelphia colors,
but they do provide the team with some attributes not seen on the field otherwise.
After back-to-back wins, the Whitecaps are unbeaten in four and have pushed up to the No. 5 slot
in this week's SBI MLS Power Rankings. And to make matters better, Designated Player signing Barry
Robson will finally be eligible to play come June 27.
Stop press. Spain finally beaten. In the pecking order of bragging rights, the Olympics may not
be such a big deal compared to the World Cup or the Euro, but lets not forget it was not another
European giant beating them, it was Japan. A perennial Asian powerhouse but not known for winning
results against the big boys of world football.
He went to the 2006 World Cup as a teenager but came back without getting on the pitch. Let's
just forget Euro 2008. They didn't take him to the 2010 World Cup. So it's now, in 2012, over six
years after his debut for the senior side that Theo Walcott is finally seeing some action in the
major tournaments for his country.
Dirk Kuyt has expressed his dismay at losing his place in Holland's starting side and says he will
be doing all he can to regain his place at Euro 2012.
The 31-year-old has been a regular for the Oranje since making his debut in 2004 and played a
pivotal role as they reached the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa.
It wasn't perfect, and there's still plenty of work to be done. But for the moment, Chelsea
appear to be on the verge of identifying themselves as a new-look counter-attacking side with
plenty of pace and trickery. More, after the jump:
The new faces of Chelsea were on full display Wednesday night as forward Romelu Lukaku scored
twice in a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Sounders to open Chelsea's American tour.
For the Sounders, the loss on the night was overshadowed by the retirement of Roger Levesque,
who made his final appearance for Seattle after an impressive career with the Sounders.
The New York Red Bulls added goalkeeping depth Friday, acquiring Los Angeles Galaxy backup Bill
Gaudette in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2014 MLS Supplemental Draft.Â
With rookie Ryan Meara as the entrenched starter in New York, Gaudette will fight Jeremy Vuolo
for backup duties while providing experienced insurance on the depth chart.

- One More Week: THEN John Terry Finally get his Day in Court.
So, the transfer window opens next week. And the Revs currently maintain a 28-man roster. What
we already know is that the Revolution are currently trialing guys, specifically forwards. Now,
it's no real shock that Jay Heaps is looking for another forward to play up top with Saer
Sene--someone who, as Abram put it earlier this week, can provide the Revs with that secondary
scoring threat, which at this point they desperately lack.
Our two January signings had what some would call a predictably low key six months at Spurs and
while striker Louis Saha seems to be finished at the club, there are suggestions that Ryan Nelsen
will return as defensive cover.
34 year old Nelsen played six games for the club, scoring against Bolton in the FA Cup and
rumours of a return seem to be gathering momentum.
Dirk Kuyt has revealed he has received many messages of support from Liverpool fans after ending
his six-year association with the club to join Fenerbahce.
The 31-year-old, who fell down the pecking order at Anfield last season, admits his increasing lack
of game time was behind his decision to move on.
