For the love of Kun, the Rojiblancos have been slapped with a fine of 150
euros (about the cost of a decent La Liga ticket these days). Anyway, RFEF meted out that
small punishment after Atletico's fans were said to have thrown objects at Pellegrini from the
stands during the Madrid derby on November 7.
Poor Amauri... at the rate things are going for RobinHood's
long lost cousin, he'll never find a national team to call his own! Before you blame it on
Little John, it's all because Dopey and Lippi
can't make up their minds.
Chelsea fans will already know that, last Friday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
granted Chelsea a stay in relation to the transfer ban FIFA imposed back in September. Since then,
the papers have been full of wild and wonderful reports on who Gourlay, Arnesen and Abramovich are
plotting to bring to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens in January.

Fairly good week for goals, as only one game finished 0-0 (Catania-Napoli, but ask Takayuki
Morimoto about that). The top scorer table is still wide open, as Di Natale started strong but now
has cooled off so he remains at 9, while Hamsik is second with 7 and that's impressive for a
midfielder.
Azzurri coach Marcello Lippi has come under heavy criticism in recent months despite Italy's
success in qualifying to the World Cup in South Africa. La Nazionale went through an alarming goal
drought and was only able to overcome it after two unfortunate own goals from returning Georgia
captain Kakha Kaladze.
The Italian Serie A kicked off with a round of midweek games, many spectacular not only results
wise, but also the repurcussions that the results will have. Here is a wrap up of the biggest games
of this matchday. Inter Milan faced off against Palermo, providing an eight goal thriller with the final score being
5-3 to the neroazzurri. Click to continue reading...

Giampaolo Pazzini celebrates his goal in Sampdoria's 4-1 win over Bologna just one week after
suffering a broken nose and being told he would be out for a month.
His protective mask fittingly describes him as "crazy."
Inspired by this form of injury-induced expression, Cristiano Ronaldo has already decided that
if he ever breaks his nose, his mask will read: "effeminate.

A late equaliser from Totti saved Roma a point at the Renzo Barbera while the dark days at AC
Milan appear to be getting ever darker as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Udinese.

There were several interesting matches in the top European leagues on Saturday and a few upsets.
In the Italian Serie A, Sampdoria was able to defeat Inter Milan (Internazionale). In Germany,
Hamburg beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Bundesliga and Lyon lost at home to Toulouse in the French
Ligue 1. Here's a recap of all these matches along with video highlights.
It was a weekend of some nice goals. First, let's just say that Fabio Quagliarella ALMOST scored
the goal of the season (he did however score 2 goals on the night). You can watch that video here.
Diego scored his first goals in Serie A, Julio Cruz scored his first goals for Lazio, Alberto
Paloschi continues to look more and more like the new Pippo Inzaghi, Giampaolo Pazzini continues to
score, and Antonio Cassano worked some magic again.
Today the list of 35 players was announced that will play in a friendly on June 6th in Pisa vs.
Northern Ireland and the upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup. 22 players were called up for the
Northern Ireland game, while 13 will skip that match and go straight to South Africa. Lippi said in
recent weeks that the roster for the Northern Ireland match would be mainly experimental and would
give national team experience to the players that merited a call-up based on their play throughout
the Serie A season.
Continua

Due to Livorno's loss on Friday, Bari were mathematically promoted to Serie A and will return to
paradise after 8 long years of Serie B. The last time Bari were in Serie A they had players like
Antonio Cassano and Simone Perrotta on the books. This season they were expected to at least
contend for a play-off spot but nobody expected them to dominate Serie B.
Week 35 of the Serie A was full of tight matches showing the competitive balance of Italy's 1st
Division of Football. Only one match had a goal differential of more than 2 goals and there were 6
draws over the weekend. One of those draws delayed a Scudetto celebration for Inter Milan. Chievo
battled Il Nerazzurri to a 2-2 draw in Verona.

Ever since 17 year old Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has scored those two goals in
the last two league games, the Italian media has been publishing articles about how Italy doesn't
put faith in young players. On the one hand, it is true, Italy is a traditional society and most
managers have the traditional view that players have to mature first and if you play them regularly
too early you will "burn" them.
The race for top-spot of group eight continued as Robbie Keane's late goal salvaged a point for
Ireland, and stole two from Italy during the clash in Bari. Pazzini was shown a red card inside 3
minutes by referee Wolfgang Stark following an ‘elbowing' incident with O'Shea. Despite the vast

Derry's Ireland and Manchester United midfielder, Darron Gibson, has said that he thought
Ireland were unlucky not to have won against World champions Italy last Wednesday and described the
1-1 draw as "massive". "It was a massive result for us," said Gibson. "And to be fair we probably could have
won it at the end.Click to continue reading...
Admit it people. At the first sight of Giampaolo Pazzini's 3rd minute red card,
most of you immediately connected your minds to World Cup 2006. That bloody (litterally) game vs.
USA, where Brian McBride was the unfortunate recipient of Daniele De Rossi's elbow fury. After that
incident DDR apologized for his behaviour, immensely regretting that moment of craziness which
nearly terminated his World Cup adventure right then and there.
Robbie Keane kept Ireland's dreams of automatic qualification for the World Cup finals in
South Africa alive with a late equaliser to deny ten-man Italy victory. The Tottenham striker stabbed home an 87th-minute shot in Bari to claim a point that keeps Ireland
within touching distance of the Italians at the top of Group Eight.Click to continue reading...
