Three reasons why RAFA BENITEZ will not be sacked

Liverpool Kop 07 November @ 06:49 AM EST
There is a growing section of Liverpool fans who believe that sacking Rafa Benitez is the way forward at the moment. TAF MCDONALD disagrees, and explains why he believes there is no real possibility that this is going to happen.
Before Rafa's future can even realistically be called into question at least two of the following three things need to happen. Click to continue reading...

Spreading the Word: The Tomkins Times

A Liverpool Thing 12 October @ 07:00 AM EST
It is fair to say that Paul Tomkins is one of the leading Liverpool writers out there (Brian Reade, Oliver Kay, Tony Barrett and Tony Evans are the others), a reputation built over the years initially on various forums and then on the club's official website. He is also probably the most prolific author of books about Liverpool FC having published some eight books in the space of four years. Click to continue reading...

A Look At: Red Race

A Liverpool Thing 14 August @ 07:13 AM EST
Book Review: Red Race by Paul Tomkins
If you're a fan of American sport (something that I have to admit I'm not) then you'll be familiar with the love affair that there is with statistics and how numbers are used to explain almost everything.
Up till a few years back such an approach was alien to football where the only numbers you were likely to get were those pertaining to the scoreline. Click to continue reading...

The Week in Words [09/05/09]

A Liverpool Thing 09 May @ 02:00 AM EST
He is a perfect professional. In every single training session and in every single game he gives 100 per cent for the team and he has been a fantastic servant to this club.
Rafa Benitez shares his thoughts on Sami Hyppia.

Benitez is equally determined to keep hold of Xabi Alonso, despite interest from Juventus and Real Madrid, and is likely to revive his move for Gareth Barry, the Aston Villa player, as an alternative to, not a replacement for, the Basque. Click to continue reading...

Justice for the 96

Oh, You Beauty... 22 April @ 09:08 PM EST
I have no desire to write about Steven fucking Cohen, the co-host of the World Soccer Daily radio show. The man is an embarrassment to American soccer fans, end of.
But, unfortunately, that prat is the face of the Prem in the US for many. And if I can convince just one American to never listen to his show again, it's worth having a post with that malignant fucker's name in it. Click to continue reading...

The real reason Liverpool lack a cutting edge

My Anfield 04 September @ 06:01 AM EST
There has been some excellent analysis done by the likes of Paul Tomkins regarding rotation myths and their resultant effects etc. But perhaps another angle should be taken into consideration also.
Clean shaven Rafa managed to win 57% of his first 180 games for Liverpool, not to mention picking up a couple of nice trophies along the way. Click to continue reading...

Rafa's rotation policy is brilliant

Anfield Banter 17 September @ 11:23 AM EST
Anyone notice Man U's line-up this past weekend? Mikaël Silvestre started in mid-left, but that's the usual, right? No. Sir Alex has started Nani on the left four times this year and Patrice Evra began there the first match of the year. In fact, he's used 20 players in Man U's first six EPL matches this season. Suspensions, injuries, or fatigued players are excuses not allowed when it comes to Rafa Benitez, so Fergie will be treated no different. Click to continue reading...
