I'm late on this, but it's worth following up on how Paul Kemsley is out at the Fake Cosmos and
that the organization is facing a lawsuit for payment of money to the youth sides it cravenly
rebranded. David Kilpatrick at The Viper's Nest gloats accordingly:
Speaking of goodbyes, none more welcome than shyster wideboy Paul Kemsley.
This landed in my inbox last night:
Management Update from the New York Cosmos
November 2, 2011 (New York, NY) - There has been a buyout at The New York Cosmos and
management changes have taken place in various areas of our organization.

The writing was possibly too much on the wall for this not to happen. We heard the whispers for
a little while that something could be going wrong in the New York Cosmos to MLS expansion camp.
With the news the other day that Cosmos chairman and CEO Paul Kemsley resigned, you just knew
something else was going on.
STARTERSThe man who led the charge of the re-formed New York Cosmos Paul Kemsley has resigned from the
organization. This is not a good sign for the struggling proposition.
And since the Cosmos have fallen out of the race for the 20th MLS team, guess who has emerged as
the man behind a new bid to bring a team to New York City.

Kickoff for Sunday's game is now set for 5pm.
ESPN2 is broadcasting New York Red Bulls v LA Galaxy at 3pm, which pushes the kickoff of
Sunday's Union v Houston game, which is also on ESPN2, up to 5pm. Why the start times aren't the
other way around, given the fact that the Eagles are playing the Cowboys at the Linc at 8pm, the
Giants are playing Miami at 1pm and the Jets have a bye, is beyond me.
Now this is interesting. According to SoccerAmerica -remember SoccerAmerica?-- the current
iteration of the New York Cosmos front office is getting blowed up. Paul Gardner's latest,
quasi-bizarrely written treatise for the old-school footie mag throws forth a tale of upheaval
around the MLS expansion pretenders and leaves you with more questions than answers.

First they play Old Trafford. Then they'll play who, Hertha Berlin? What happened to the
"inspirational" games to be played locally by a team wearing Umbro's retro-Cosmos gear? Nearly two
years have passed since Paul Kemsley paid Peppe Pinton's ransom for the rights to the Cosmos brand.
The current sweltering weather conditions in New York City remind me a lot of 1977, especially
the blackout of '77 that sent the city into terror and mass hysteria. The looting, rioting and
threat of the Son of Sam (David Berkowitz) created a terrifying time for anyone living in the
city.
Fourteen years after he last kicked a ball in anger, and 16 years after his kung-fu kick (in
anger, of course), Eric 'the King' Cantona is back in soccer — improbably as the director of
soccer for the reborn New York Cosmos.
The Cosmos, the marquee team of the North American Soccer League, have not played an outdoor
game in more than 20 years.
The King is back. Long live the King.
Yes, Eric Cantona, one of the greatest legends of the Premier League, has returned to the world
of football after it was announced today that he'll be the director of football, achh I mean
soccer, at The New York Cosmos. It's a safe bet that the Cosmos will become the 20th team in Major
League Soccer in 2013.
Huge singing for the New York Cosmos signing who have hired the King Eric Cantona as it's
director of soccer as the Cosmos hope to become the 20th team in Major League Soccer. Cantona will
work with former United States midfielder Cobi Jones, who is the club's assistant director of
soccer.
"It's a big project, a wonderful project," Cantona said.
NEW YORK, NY Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has made a shock return to football with the New
York Cosmos. The Frenchman has joined as their director of soccer. "I am very honoured to join the
legendary New York Cosmos. It's a big project, a wonderful project," Cantona told the Sun. "The
Cosmos are [.

mysteries." -Carl Sagan
There has always been a connection between MLS and the Cosmos, ever since the league was founded
and began to establish itself as an entity that wouldn't disappear from the American sports
landscape, people have speculated about connecting easily the most famous American club name with
the top domestic league.
