Simpson: United Is My Club… But I’d Sign For Newcastle

Republik Of Mancunia 16 November @ 05:18 PM EST

Danny Simpson left Manchester United under a bit of a cloud after mistakes in his personal life saw Sir Alex Ferguson ship him out to Blackburn Rovers. The move was supposed to be as a favour to Paul Ince but Danny struggled to get in the team and the move became a bit of a waste of time.

Simpson is enjoying himself a lot more at Newcastle though and reckons he would sign for them if he was asked in January or at the end of the season.

The FA Cup First Round – What The Papers Say

Twohundredpercent 07 November @ 05:18 AM EST

We'll be back a little later on today with a report on the match between Paulton Rovers and Norwich City. In the meantime, however, The First Round of The FA Cup started yesterday evening with three matches. The remainder, of course, are to be played over the next three days. One of the traditions of The FA Cup is the press sending one of their hacks who is probably none too happy at not being to assigned to a Premier League match to write a few words about the smaller clubs that are taking their spot in the limelight.

Ince: Unforgiveable To Call Me Big Time Charlie

Republik Of Mancunia 25 October @ 04:30 AM EST

As Michael Owen prepares to go back to Anfield as a United player, another player to break the unwritten rule, Paul Ince, has reflected on his respect for Sir Alex Ferguson, their fallings out and why he left the club.

"I was playing golf with Ryan Giggs in 1995 when the phone rang. It was Fergie telling me he was at the clubhouse," said Ince.

Michael Owen Ready For Liverpool Game

Man United Devils 24 October @ 04:40 AM EST
Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that United striker (and former Liverpool striker) Michael Owen will be able to handle the boo's tomorrow.
Owen joined Liverpool and played for their youth team in 1991. In 2004, Owen left Liverpool for Real Madrid, that didn't quite work out so he joined Newcastle United in 2005. Click to continue reading...

Who will be the first to go?

Soccer Pie 22 September @ 03:00 AM EST

There is generally at least one managerial casualty in the opening stages of a new season and there are plenty of contenders in the Premier League in my opinion. Portsmouth, Hull City and Blackburn are the current occupiers of the relegation places but Bolton, West Ham and Wigan aren't fairing much better and heads may roll before October (or even September) is out.

Robbie Down Under

EPL Talk 13 September @ 07:50 PM EST

As the EPL and the rest of Europe completes the first month of the domestic season, it is interesting to look at the travels of perhaps the EPL's greatest finisher: one Robbie Fowler. Having been discarded by Blackburn amidst the outing of old friend Paul Ince, many wondered what Fowler's next move would be.

In Chelsea's squad lie England's future managers

Soccerblog 13 September @ 11:21 AM EST

Saturday, June 1st, 1991 was the day when Man Utd won the Cup Winners Cup beating Barca, 2-1 in a nerve wracking final, the first such honour for an English side.

Steve Bruce almost scored a goal but it was Mark Hughes with two goals who stole the show. In that squad too were Paul Ince, Bryan Robson, and Mike Phelan.

Black Arthur

It was pointed out to me earlier today that I don't usually capitalize the title. If ever a time was right it's now - Viv was the first black player to play in an England Shirt, and Paul Ince was the first Black Captain of England.
It was my incredible priviledge to play alongside Leroy Rosenior at Torquay, but let's not forget Arthur Wharton - the first black pro footie player. Click to continue reading...

Ferguson Jnr: Keane Didn’t Force Me Out, My Dad Did!

Republik Of Mancunia 25 August @ 05:44 AM EST

Darren Ferguson was brought through the ranks at Manchester United with his dad and manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, giving him his first team début when he was eighteen. Filling in for an injured Bryan Robson during the start of the 1992-1993 season, Ferguson made enough appearances to qualify for a league title winners medal.

Searching For A Result Following Burnley Disappointment

Republik Of Mancunia 22 August @ 07:44 AM EST

You would think that our fans had never seen through a whole season supporting United, judging by the reaction to our defeat against Burnley. Don't get me wrong, it was a dreadful result and a poor performance, but christ, it's not as if we haven't seen them before. Just looking over the past ten years or so, we've had some bloody awful results and performances.

Midfield to Make You Scream - Down Goes United?

Premiership Talk Blog 20 August @ 12:12 AM EST

Over the past couple of weeks we have heard Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson predicting his team's success would continue on into this new season. Given Ferguson has often proven his doubters wrong, the departures of key players over the summer and the failure to adequately replace them has left a lot of questions over the quality of this team.

Andy Cole To Join Ince At MK Dons

Republik Of Mancunia 14 August @ 04:00 AM EST

Andy Cole has joined a long line of former players to still love the club after leaving. He spent just six of his nineteen year playing career with us but bought a season ticket for his son and himself and has settled down in Manchester.

Sadly, he will joining Paul Ince, who has returned to MK Dons with his tail between his legs after a disastrous period with Blackburn Rovers, to help out with their strikers.

Blackburn Rovers Season Preview

Blackburn Rovers enter the first full year of the Big Sam era. He's already put his stamp on the team - Samba as a lone center-forward anyone? - and this year should see further consolidation. They start the season injured with Nelsen, Samba, Gallagher, Emerton, Grella, Dunn, and Reid in various states of crocked. Ince returns to MK Dons

MIKE JACOBS 07 July @ 08:35 AM EST
Paul Ince is back at MK Dons and expectations are sky high.
The departure of Roberto Di Matteo to West Bromwich Albion cleared the path for a return for Ince, who has taken a six month sabbatical since his departure from Blackburn.

Rovers Looking To Sign Egypt’s Beckham - Again

Beware! Manchester United set to go Brazilian

SoccerLens 25 June @ 04:39 AM EST

A strange lull has fallen over the Premier League at the moment. Almost eerie. I can feel it, and I know a lot of my fellow Liverpudlians can too. Blame Real Madrid I suppose. And Carlos Tévez. If it wasn't for that amalgamation of characters, chancers and crackpots, we wouldn't have this feeling.

Respect the ref campaign down plughole

OK Football Finder 19 June @ 01:30 AM EST

In what was supposed to be the season of goodwill, it transpired that there was really no hope of the "Respect The Ref" campaign working.

The Premier League was targeted firstly by the campaign, as its high profile and influential nature was hopefully going to place a "verbal cull" on some of its more outspoken players, and indeed managers.

What Have Our Players Been Up To?

Republik Of Mancunia 18 June @ 03:00 AM EST

The season ended almost four weeks ago and I imagine that you, like me, are missing football dreadfully.

Our players on the other hand seem to have been enjoying their time off, and here's what they've been up to since the season finished.

John Barnes To Return To Merseyside?

Does Tevez Need Replacing? Did Kanchelskis?

Republik Of Mancunia 05 June @ 12:35 PM EST

Like the opinion on whether we should sign Carlos Tevez permanently is split amongst United fans, I also imagine our thoughts on who we should sign to replace him will vary massively as well.

There's been talk of Karim Benzema coming in for Tevez for Franck Ribery replacing Cristiano Ronaldo, which has been exciting news for some reds, yet bad news for others.

Walker to Wilkins, Beckham to Baker - Five of the best and worst Englishmen in Italy

It's somewhat rare these days to see an Englishman trying his luck in Europe's top leagues, especially in the tactical cauldron that is Serie A. Could the 94 Team Take On The 09 Team?

Republik Of Mancunia 13 May @ 03:26 AM EST

Sir Alex Ferguson has created several great teams in just over the two decades he's been with the club. Whilst he had great players before 1994, that was certainly the start of the great teams.
