LTLF generally has a neutral editorial policy, but the breaking news that Nottingham Forest have terminated Billy Davies' contract one year short prompts me to put on record my utter shock and disgust at the actions of the Forest board. Billy Davies, as previously stated by several contributors to this site, has been the most consistent and successful manager at Forest since Frank Clark.

- Queens Park Rangers Football Club will not be appealing the Football Association fine relating to the Alejandro Faurlin inquiry.

After the dramatic events which unfolded on the morning of Queens Park Rangers' last match of the season when the club's promotion to the Premier League was finally confirmed after the FA imposed a £875,000 fine rather than a heavy points deduction, Rangers' fans could be forgiven for looking forward to a summer filled with hope and expectation about their first season back in the top flight since 1995-96.

When last we left Swindon Town, the Robins were putting the finishing touches on a lamentable 2010/11 campaign that saw them relegated from League One and undergoing the process of disassembly. Beneficent chairperson Andrew Fitton chose to step down after having cleaned up Swindon's financial flubs from the past but exhausted after a long and disappointing season which was to have season the Robins challenge for Championship promotion rather than battling the drop.

Neil Warnock has said he has the backing of Queens Park Rangers to "plan for next season" after a meeting with the board. According to today's Guardian, their support appears to rule him out of the running to replace Avram Grant as West Ham United's manager, a possibility that was understood to have appealed to co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

Swindon Town's New (and Controversial) Boss

You couldn't ever accuse Swindon Town supporters of having little to talk about. The team has pogoed around the divisions in the last twenty years (they were present in the second ever Premier League season of 1993-4, and are at present the only former Premiership team to have been relegated to the lowest league tier).

Paolo Di Canio is to become the new manager of Swindon Town. The 42-year-old Italian is set to replace Paul Hart, who left three weeks ago, as the Robins prepare for life in the bottom tier of the Football League following relegation this season.

Swindon Town have confirmed that everybody's favourite footballing fascist, Paolo Di Canio, is all but set to take over as the club's new manager with an official announcement scheduled for later today after the club get round to dotting the T's and crossing the I's on the Italian's contract.

Heartache should by now be a familiar emotion for Forest fans. Once again, a successful season saw the Reds renew the flickering light of premier league hope amongst the hearts of supporters, only for a semi-final defeat at the hands of Swansea to render the play-off dream something of a nightmare [.

Over the fortnight Sheffield Wednesday supporters should be feeling relieved and maybe still a touch groggy from imbibing a few drinks for the dink. Having been frustrated until recently by the form of Gary Megson's side which saw Wednesday drift agonizingly close to the relegation zone of League One, Owls faithful saw the club come around on Hartlepool 2-1 and nick a point off Walsall to mathematically avoid demotion to League Two.

Following Swindon Town's relegation to League Two, Paul Hart's eyes have formally tendered their resignation. With an Easter Monday loss to Sheffield Wednesday sealing Swindon's relegation, Hart's eyes resigned from his face in a tearful post-match meeting with Town chairman Andrew Fitton.

That was how Dougie Freedman described the task facing him after Crystal Palace's latest heavy away defeat at Swansea which kept his beloved Eagles deep in the relegation mire. The 36-year-old is a legend in these parts of South London but there is no denying the uphill battle ahead for the Scotsman in what is sure to be a challenging introduction into football management.

January starts with the usual flurry of transfer rumours.

The biggest has to be the possible move of Ronaldinho to Blackburn. I hope his agent works in a release clause for when Rovers get relegated, as great a player Ronaldinho used to be, I don't think his list of career ambitions includes sitting on the coach to Hull, Preston and Swansea.
