The U.S. U-20 WNT did not train today (although they did do some shopping and regen in the
afternoon), but they did have the standard FIFA Arrival Meetings in which they are officially
welcomed to the Women's World Cup and listened to presentations on various organizational issues,
including medical and referees.
The U.S. U-17 WNT had two trainings today, but both were reasonably light, as the team zeroes in on
its CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship opener on May 3 against the Bahamas. The morning training
was at the ground of C.S.D. Municipal, perhaps Guatemala's most popular club, and several of the
Municipal players hung around for a few minutes after their training to watch the U.
According to Globoesporte, 15-year-old William McLaren (a nickname picked up because of his
pace) could be on his way to Liverpool. The teenage midfielder was spotted after taking part in the
Pnera – an online competition that allows young players to submit videos of
themselves and the winner gets a trial at a top Brazilian club.
It seems that Arsene Wenger and Carlos Vela have never seen eye to eye since the Mexican
international first arrived at Arsenal, and the French manager seemed to leave him out in the cold
even when the Gunners were desperate for back up attackers. Does anyone remember the time Vela left
his passport at ome [.
It's not often that you get detained under the Terrorism Act following the Arsenal. Well, when I
say not often it's probably leaning to never. Except yesterday after the Manchester City defeat.
There I was minding my own business as I tried to exit the arrivals hall after my flight from
Manchester to Southampton.

TORONTO -- Julian and Jonathan de Guzman are polarizing figures -– two of
Canada's most gifted players who continue to pull Canadian supporters in opposite directions.
Following CONCACAF's second round of World Cup qualifying, Julian acknowledged that his brother,
Jonathan, who is currently under contract with Spanish side Villarreal, was looking to take steps
to become eligible for selection by head coach Stephen Hart and the Canadian national team.

I was reading about Marcelo (current awful Real Madrid left back) and how his career started to
rise with Fluminese and how he ended up at Real Madrid. To say the least, I was shocked to hear
people like Maldini and Maradonna praising Marcelo and calling him Roberto Carlos's (a former great

Upon clicking on this,it seems nice, fun. Yet there is no worldly reason why one should watch
several minutes of this. And yet I did. I couldn't stop. "Just score, would you?"
Nor any idea why it happened, though there are suspicions Jose is looking into a 1-0-108

Nemanja Vidic's agent Silvano Martina has dismissed rumours coming from Italy that our captain
is ready to move to Juventus when he recovers from his injury.
"Vidic is still out with a cruciate ligament injury," Silvano Martina told
tuttomercatoweb.com. "A future in Italy? You have to consider that he has a non-EU passport and
that would make it difficult for him to arrive in Serie A.
There are a number of ways to get called up to a historically prestigious national team, among
them simply owning an Argentinean passport between the years 2008 and 2010. Not on that list is
being a 29 year old defender for a minnow languishing near the bottom of Serie B. Typically,
anyway, if things are being judged on merit.
Tim Ream returned to England earlier this week with all the necessary paperwork completed for
him to suit up for Bolton Wanderers, and he might not have to wait long at all to make his
debut.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle told reporters on Thursday morning that Ream, and two of the other
club's recent acquisitions, will be on the gameday squad that will take on Wigan Athletic in a
match with relegation implications on Saturday.
According to a flash report on the BBC Sport website, Tim Ream has received his work permit and
will sign with Bolton Wanderers. Having no ancestral connection to allow for a passport, Ream
needed to apply for a work permit. That procedure has hampered potential American moves in the
past. New York had been preparing for Ream to be sold to Bolton.
Sebastien Le Toux will have a week to impress the Bolton Wanderer's coaching staff, according to
manager Owen Coyle. The Scot confirmed reports out of the United States that Le Toux was on his way
to Bolton on a trial ahead of a possible transfer.
"We have received good reports about Sebastian, so we thought we would give him an opportunity
to come into the group," said Coyle.
Fox Soccer is reporting that Union striker/top scorer/face-of-the-franchise/fan-favorite
Sebastien Le Toux began training with the English Premier League's Bolton Wanderers ahead of a
transfer that will be completed by the end of the week.
As of 12:40 PM, no sources have confirmed this news.

George John could be on the move (again). (Getty Images)
A fun bit of news broke late yesterday evening. Two US National team defenders George John and
Omar Gonzalez were said to be leaving the national team camp for "club-related matters". Naturally
their two teams instantly sent out messages about those matters.

This morning began like any other for me. I started the ol' desktop, fired up the web browser and
began to troll my usual soccer news sources with a cup of Joe in hand.
The first story that caught my eye was one out of England, which doesn't typically do it for me but
this one had "U.
George John will take his talents to England. (Getty Images)
I really wanted to get to this yesterday since the player's agent actually contacted me about
it. Ah never the less it was still reported well over at my other hub at BigDSoccer.com.
FC Dallas defender George John is on his way to Greece to pick up his Greek passport.
George John has moved a big step closer to a move to the English Premier League after Major
League Soccer and Blackburn agreed on the fee for the standout centerback.
Here is my Fox Soccer story on the latest development's in Blackburn's move for John, who is on
his way to Greece to secure his passport, which will help facilitate his transfer.
George John had to hold off on his dreams of a move to Europe this summer when a proposed
transfer to Blackburn fell through in the final stages. Those events may ultimately lead John to
wind up at a better club this winter, if reports are to be believed.
According to the UK Daily Mail, Everton and Wigan are both on the trail of the FC Dallas
defender and are expected to make January bids for the big centerback.
The boys done good, as the adage goes. It might have been a distinctly unexotic first
step into Europe's junior competition yesterday evening, but they were steps plenty big enough for
Jim Jefferies and his half-baked Jam Tarts. In fact, you might even say: we proved to be
rather...sticky customers?
Some folks on Twitter saw thephotos of the team passport checkthat took place this afternoon before training at Estadio Azteca and asked a simple question: Why do they do it? It's also a simple answer. In order to be eligible to play for a country, you must be able to demonstrate that you are a citizen, and the only acceptable proof in this case is a passport.
The Selecao OlÃmpica arrived at the athletes village in London today
and in typical Brazilian style, began to suss out the place. Defender Marcelo, who spotted the bar
from miles away upon arrival, already knows where he'll be drinking this Friday... and it isn't
going to be at the local pub!
Corinthians, Brazil's second most popular club, finished off Boca Juniors with a 2-0 win in the
second leg of the Copa Libertadores final to claim their first ever title in the competition (3-1

Corinthians within 20 minutes of each other in the second half.

Soccer America reports that Liverpool has signed 17-year-old midfielder Marc Pelosi, who
represented the USA at the 2011 Under-17 World Cup in Mexico, to its academy program.
Pelosi, who played for De Anza Force in the Bay Area, had a verbal commitment to attend UCLA. He
got around the work permit requirements because he holds a German passport.
