Ten Things Wrong with Scottish Football

Sanford's Soccer Net 17 November @ 07:37 AM EST
5. The stick-it-right-up-'em Scottish crowd
When I was a kid watching games at Ibrox, Parkhead or Hampden I sensed even then "the angry Scottish football crowd". To this day the Scots aren't too keen on the type of football which tends to succeed, ie, methodical, studied and careful in the build-up. Click to continue reading...

Celtic And Rangers Share A City, Shirt Sponsorship And An Aptitude For Financial Incompetence #

OMG I am part of the 60,943,912 block of humanity that owns 43.5% of Glasgow Rangers and nobody told me.
Disinvest me.
I don't wish to own any part of a stock that I would rather make a strategic short selling position upon.
This is a distressed stock.
All the playing staff are on the transfer list and it is rumoured that failed property developer, Sir Murray, was ousted from his eyrie by bankers. Click to continue reading...

"I think that, all things considered, that second half was the worst Celtic performance I've ever seen. I'd say that match was a clear cut case of selling the jerseys" - Gerry Coogan (ManAtTheWindow).
Well, yet again we have to remind you that we warned of the consequences of allowing not-so-super agent John Colquhoun to oversee the selection process for the new Glasgow Celtic manager. Click to continue reading...

Could this be Manchester United’s Number 1 Replacement for Van der Sar?

Caught Offside 14 September @ 07:41 AM EST

Its going to be hard to fill his gloves.

There have been many keepers linked with a potential move to Old Trafford but as far as I can see there is not a better candidate for the job than this man.

Artur Boruc is a class act. Take away the slight insanity he appears to possess, or leave it as it is, and you have a goalkeeper who is one of the best on the planet today and perhaps more importantly a keeper who would surely jump at the chance to make a move to the upper echelons of the footballing pyramid.

INJURY GREMLINS – OUT, DEMONS, OUT!

Arsenal Insider 26 August @ 06:33 AM EST

They've struck again. It looks like Cesc FÃ bregas will be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring problem. He'll certainly miss tonight's game against Celtic and probably Saturday's game at Old Trafford. Great. We really don't get a break with injuries, do we? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office">

Arsène Wenger is copping a fair amount of flack from some Gooners for risking Cesc when he was carrying a hamstring tweak last weekend against Pompey.

The team vs. the individual: Arsene's new system.

Three games and 12 goals should leave no room for complaint.
Yes, the opposition was weak at the weekend, but so what? I remember going to a string of games in January/February last season where we played fairly mediocre opposition and couldn't buy a goal.
Portsmouth might be a shambles, but we can only beat the teams put in front of us. Click to continue reading...

Celtic 0-2 Arsenal

Let's get something straight here: Arsenal's goals may have been a tad fortunate last night (a 'backer' from Gallas and an own goal from Gary Scoredwell), but Arsenal earned their luck and more than merited the first English success at Parkhead since 1983.

Well, that was just what the doctor ordered, wasn't it? Before kick off on Merseyside at Goodison I would have suffered a point, was hoping for a win – and oh, how we got one!

It must be said that Everton were hopeless open. I doubt many teams will leave us the freedom of the park like that for the rest of this season.

Wenger to get his Teenage Kicks

Arsenal Insider 11 August @ 02:42 AM EST

Sampdoria: Transfer Rumours -- Homecoming For Celtic's Donati?

Former Italian U-21 international Massimo Donati is realising his dream to return back to his native Serie A will, in all probability, materialise this summer as Sampdoria head the list of interested clubs. Today's vital clash between Celtic and Hearts is the 276th League meeting between the two sides.

Celtic home record in this tie if very one sided, having won 84 of the 138 home games until now, losing only 19 with 35 draws - although it was only two years ago, in April 2007 when Hearts last won in Glasgow - which is also their last win in the tie too.
