Following their defeat to Chelsea, I read a couple of articles writing off Manchester United's
title hopes. This feels absurdly early to me, so ahead of this weekend's Premiership matches here
are 4 reasons why I reckon Manchester United will be lifting the Premier League title in May
2010.

After eleven league games it looks as if Chelsea and Manchester United will be the two sides
battling for the title through the course of the season. Liverpool look to be all but out of it
already, questions still remain as to whether Arsenal can maintain their form throughout the
campaign and Man City have lost ground following a run of draws.

VfL Wolfsburg vs Besiktas
Last year's Bundesliga champions have been disappointing this season. They have only shown
glimpses of the wonderful attacking football that we were all spoiled with this past year.
Grafite is back from a club-enforced break following his red card against Besiktas a fortnight
ago.

After the effective, if not inspiring, performance of the second string in the Carling Cup
earlier in the week, normal service resumes this weekend as United face Blackburn in the Premier
League.
Rovers enjoyed a relatively safe passage into the quarter finals of that competition that none
of the big guns tend to take very seriously the League Cup themselves on Tuesday night although
Saturday should prove a much tougher hurdle for Sam Allardyce and his swine flu-hit charges to
negotiate.

I am going through the Champions League games this week and I am amazed at the stars who will be
missing because of injury. The Champions League is billed as the best club tournament in the world,
but this years event so far has failed to live up to the hype. Whether it is familiarity because
the same sides play each other every year, or a full schedule that leaves players vulnerable to
injury, the Champions League group stages this year have been a major disappointment.

A trademark of the great Manchester United teams have always been the width in their attack,
spearheaded by dynamic wingers. Chris Peterson of ESPN examines where United's current wingers
stack up among the recent United teams of the past.
There was a time when Manchester United wingers struck fear into the hearts of their

For "Collymore closing in..." in 1996, you can read "It's Michael Owen..." in
2009. Both games were littered with brilliant goals, pathetic defending and some of the most
exciting football the Premier League has seen. Now though, two days on from "The Greatest
Manchester Derby in the History of Anything Anytime Ever", it is surely the time to look back
on it with a more tactical eye.

Patrice Evra, Park Ji-Sung and Carlos Tevez were inseparable at United which made it difficult
for Evra to hear the Argie booed constantly throughout our victory on Sunday.
"Carlos Tevez is a blue, he hates Munichs!" the City fans chanted after Tevez saw a shot come
back off the woodwork.
At half time, Tevez and Evra walked off the pitch today and as they approached the tunnel,
Carlos applauded the fans in the Stretford End, who returned his gesture with a load of abuse.

Richard Scudamore launches more Scuds
The Premier League has brought in protectionism ostensibly in the name of encouraging homegrown
talent but what it actually accomplishes is legalize the sort of predatory Gael Kakuta and Paul
Pogba type of transfers.
Richard Scudamore in one fell swoop has made the UEFA head honchos happy and preserved the EPL's
global brand alive.

Manchester United have confirmed that a new contract has been given to Park Ji-Sung. The South
Korean was set to be out of a contract at the end of the season, but this new agreement will keep
him at Old Trafford until June 2012.

which were echoed in an improved deal.

You got the impression that the South Korean players enjoyed scoring against their goalkeeper in
training a little too much. The novelty of having coach Huh Jung-moo in between the sticks
outweighed the verbal volleys that came the way of the ten men on the outfield.
Huh was gloved up because the national team was preparing for a friendly with Australia that
kicked-off three days later with no goalkeepers.
