After winning MLS Cup, earning a place in the Champions League and become the MLS equivalent of a
SuperClub, the LA Galaxy had questions to answer at the end of 2011.
The possible departures of David Beckham, Juninho and the confirmed loss of Donovan Ricketts raised
questions. Add to that the threat of extend loans from Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, the Galaxy
had quiet cause for concern.

U.S. prospect Alfredo Morales has not seen the field for Hertha Berlin since October, but that
will not stop him from making his first-ever start in the Bundesliga this coming weekend.
Morales is slated to start at right back in place of the suspended Christian Lell when Hertha
faces Hannover 96, according to head coach Michael Skibbe.

Que triste! It isn't a good week for fans of the US Women's Professional Soccer (WPS)
league. The board announced it would be "suspending play" this year due to complex legal issues
involving a former club owner. This matters because some of the world's best female players ply
their trade there including Abby Wambach, Marta, Alex Morgan and
Hope Solo.

After completing his £4.2 million, three-year move to the French capital earlier in the week,
former Chelsea centre-half Alex was officially unveiled by Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des
Princes yesterday.
Question is, what's he so worried about? I've got a sneaking suspicion that Leonardo's other
hand may be straying 'south of the border' behind that there jersey.
Generation 2022: Al-Kass Under-17 International Cup Scouting Report is a post from: Just
Football
Always on the lookout for new talent here at Just Football, we sent our man
in Qatar to check out the inaugural Al-Kass International Under-17 tournament. A warm welcome to
Raphael Nawari, who reports on a competition full of promising youngsters:
In a small secluded part of the world, the new stars of tomorrow are taking part in a newly
formed tournament, which in years to come will be considered as one of the better known youth
tournaments, rivalling the Milk Cup and others where the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho and
Lionel Messi have graced us with their precocious talents.
It's funny how the English media mock the quality of Major League Soccer, but guess where
Premier League teams turned to this month to help their sides? Yep, MLS.
First we had the Galaxy's Landon Donovan going back to Everton on loan and then the NYRB's
Thierry Henry returned to Arsenal, where he promptly scored the winner in their FA Cup tie against
Leeds.

Mexico seemed ready to settle for a draw with Venezuela, but two late goals coming in a span of
a minute lifted El Tri to a 3-1 victory over the South Americans.
Fielding a squad largely comprised of players competing for a spot on the Olympic qualifying
team, the Mexicans won on Wednesday night courtesy of goals from Rafael Marquez Lugo and Oribe
Peralta in the 88th and 89th minutes, respectively.

Queens Park Rangers apparently can't afford Alex. Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, certainly can.
I guess that solves that then, in my skewed mind at least.
A reunion?
The protracted transfer of Alex away from Chelsea drags on.
News today arrives in two parts.
Carlos Tevez will not be transferring to Paris Saint Germain. The French club from the capital
Paris are now owned by a Qatari investment fund and have money aplenty. It was widely expected that
they would be able to put together a financial package that would have been sufficient to entice
the Argentine striker to come and join their mission to make PSG one of the leading players in
European football.
The Los Angeles Galaxy will hold a press conference on Thursday after announcing that David Beckham
has signed a two-year contract. Out of contract at the end of the 2011 season, Beckham was strongly
linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in France's Ligue 1. "This was an important decision for
me," Beckham said in a press statement.
In a game filled with attacking superstars, it was a pair of gritty defenders that decided the
latest edition of El Clasico.
Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal turned around a 1-0 halftime deficit as Barcelona defeated eternal
rivals Real Madrid, 2-1, at the Estadio Bernabeu in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa
del Rey Wednesday.

He's staying put.
The Los Angeles Galaxy announced today that they have reached an agreement with David Beckham on
a new two-year deal.
Beckham turned down offers from French club Paris-Saint Germain, now backed by wealthy Qatari
owners who dangled a reported 18-month, $17.
Fascinating comments in the Mirror from former Chelsea boss, and new Paris Saint-Germain boss
Carlo Ancelotti about Fernando Torres.
PSG is owned by the Qatar Investment Authority and have money to spend. They are in the market
for a center forward and Ancelotti says that he has been offered many of Europe's top strikers
including Torres:
"I have received hundreds of phone calls from agents offering me players ever since I signed
with PSG.
I read a comment made by Carlo Ancelotti yesterday about possible transfer targets and when
Fernando Torres' name came up I immediately thought bollocks!. I thought straight away that the
press would make his comments out to be something that they aren't and when I woke up this morning
I was proved right.
It's Monday, which means it's time for your Premiership Party! Maybe
you'd be hopping a little higher on the streets today if you were a Swansea
futbolita (pass the bread kindly now, love) but what's football if there are no
upsets involved?
Still no players have arrived in the transfer window so far in January. Alan Pardew nicely
positioned in the market place Newcastle are supposed to have gone back in for Paris-Saint Germain
striker Mevlut Erding, but since that news broke earlier in the week, there has been nothing
new on that front.

Everybody's favourite Bullet Without Borders man, Maradona,
has questioned Leonardo's role at Paris Saint-Germain, where he is currently the club's sporting
director alongside coach Carlo Ancelotti. Maradona painfully complained that he
doesn't understand this set-up which clearly translates to : "Why is Leonardo spared from those
dreadful cake-cutting ceremonies Al Wasl puts me through?
It may have been called the Dubai Challenge and Massimo Ambrosini may have receive a rather
extravagant trophy relative to the significance of the whole affair, but, there is no denying that
the match played between Milan and Paris Saint-Germain was played more in the spirit of a friendly.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to step up his pursuit of a new midfielder during the
course of the January transfer window and has set his sights on Sunderland's Stephane Sessegnon,
according to reports in The Metro.
Sessegnon has begun o play some of his best football for Sunderland since the arrival of new boss
Martin O'Neil at the Stadium of Light.
After a week of unexplainable boat parties, posing awkwardly next to bird statues and unbearable
training sessions over New Year's in Dubai, AC Milan finally had enough, screamed
'BASTA!' and took home the Emirates Cup last night.
It's always nice to win something even if it was only 1-0 thanks to Pato's goal.
So we've already seen the appearance of Toronto FC's schedule which has the Portland Timbers
playing them, away, on May 12th. This also means that the full MLS schedule should be released very
soon. All my surces and tips are telling me that it will be released tomorrow at 2:00PM EST.
Regardless of time, if true, it would be a marked improvement over the schedule's release last year
which was delayed well into February, if memory serves me right.
I hate fake transfer rumours. What I hate the most is how certain sites just brazenly and
unashamedly lie and make up transfer 'stories' with the sole intention of conning people into
reading them. Take today's daily transfer lie, for example: Sunderland's Stéphane
Sessègnon.According to one London-based 'newspaper' Liverpool 'have joined Paris Saint-Germain and
Marseille in the hunt' for
Why LA beats Paris for Beckham and Ablett lacked star quality but was still a man to
look up to
For David Beckham, it came down to this: the challenge of trying to win the French league with
Paris Saint-Germain did not hold the same allure as fighting for Serie A with AC Milan or La Liga
with Real Madrid or the Premier League with Manchester United.
Liverpool is once again being linked with a move for talented young midfielder Ryad Boudebouz who
was heavily linked with a switch to Anfield over the summer.
The 21-year-old impressed many with his superb performances for Sochaux last season and was
reportedly close to leaving the Ligue 1 side in the summer but in was convinced by the clubs
management to stay.
The news out of France on Tuesday morning is that David Beckham will not be signing a lucrative
deal with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG are currently in Doha for a training camp, and have yet to
confirm reports. The club announced on December 30th that former Chelsea manager Carlos Ancelotti
would be replacing Antoine Kombouare as coach.
As they say in Italy... Felice Anno Nuovo! As you may know, AC Milan
are now in Dubai for their training camp to escape the harsh winters in Europe and
do fun things like run on the beach. Unfortunately, they didn't have time to eat grapes or get
properly wasted over the New Year, although Robinho looks suspiciously capable of
doing so!
