Hello First Division!

With one round left in the second division of Brasileirao, the 3 tickets left for a place in next year's first division were taken. The clubs promoted are Guarani, Ceara and Atletico- GO. The promotions happened after Figueirense, the only club with chances left, lost at home, which made the other results just a detail.

Despite a shock 3-0 loss at strugglers Náutico, Palmeiras remain five points clear at the top of the Brasileiro with nine games to go. As usual when the Palestra Itália outfit slip up, none of their main rivals were able to take advantage as no one in the top five managed to win.

Chile international Figueroa made the best of his first start for Palmeiras scoring the Green's opener in the Palestra Itália.

Palmeiras coach, Muricy Ramalho, made it two 1-0 wins in a row after his side just did even to see off strugglers Sport in Recife. The victory, though, was due to a slice of fortune as Sport's Bruno Telles put through his own net for the game's only goal.

Mano Menezes' return to the estádio Olímpico ended in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Grêmio. Corinthians were blown away in the first-half, conceding three goals and having Jean sent off for two yellow cards. Grêmio's tight marking and pacey attacks, meant there was no space or time for any of Corinthians creative players.

Celso Roth's revitalization of Atlético Mineiro continued on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Náutico in Belo Horizonte. The win, plus Internacional's 0-0 draw at home to Vitória, was enough to lift Atlético into pole position on goal difference. Júnior, Diego Tardelli and Márcio Araújo did the damage.

With the 3ª Rodada of the Brasileirão completed, Inter are the only team to have taken maximum points following their 1-0 victory away to Goiás.

Vitória, the other remaining club with 100% record fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Cruzeiro as Kléber scored twice. Náutico and Atlético-MG both remain undefeated and move into second and third place as both teams recorded 3-2 away wins against Atlético Paranaense and Sport respectively, whilst Josiel scored both Flamengo goals in their 2-1 win away to Santo André.

Porto Alegre side, Internacional, stayed top of the Brasileiro after picking up their third win of the season.

Inter had an eye on the Copa do Brasil first leg semi-final meeting with Coritiba on Wednesday, but Taison's 22nd goal of the year was enough to see off Goiás in Goiana.

The 2ª Rodada of the Brasileirão was completed over the weekend as Inter take an early lead at the top of the table. The Colorado are closely followed by Vitória who are the only other club to have a 100% record after just two games.

Corinthian Churrasco?!

Corinthian's celebrated winning the 2009 Campeonato Paulista last night after defeating Santos 4-2 on aggregate. However, celebrations didn't quite go to plan as you can see!

This week's seven matches averaged less than 13,800, about 2,100 less than last year's Week 7 matches.

A busy sports weekend to say the least; NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, Hattan/Pacquiao, and the Kentucky Derby.

The weather was OK. A bit chilly with rain at kickoff of the Toronto match, but that didn't stop 20,000 from showing up and they were rewarded with the sun as the game wore on.
