Most professional footballers idle away their off-seasons by putting the finishing touches to
their tattoo sleeves and swapping STDs like Panini stickers with models on yachts off the French
Riveira, but not Kaka. Oh no.
Brazil's baddest Jesus-lovin' mutha has been busying himself by starring in dream sequences on
Brazilian soap operas, where he's been typecast as a leather jacket-wearing hoodlum who sticks it
to the man by eating hot dogs and playing air guitar at bus stops (skip to 0:40).
Lo maravilloso!! The Day of Reckoning has arrived. Put away your
Vicente Del Bosque Panini stickers right NOW because the  first el
clasico of the year between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be fought out at
the Bernabeu tonight.
As you can see from this collection of Panini stickers currently doing the rounds, Alessandro
Del Piero has enjoyed a wide variety of hairstyles during his illustrious Juventus career.
"Why do I care?" you're asking yourself. Well, he's been at Juve forever.
Inter Milan stalwart Javier Zanetti is infamously defensive of his beloved side-parting. But
precisely how defensive he is of it is very neatly demonstrated by this collection of his Panini
stickers through the years. That hairdo has stood the test of time. A similar Panini compilation
has been done for Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero.
I went through a stack of Panini stickers from the 1990 World Cup today, and picked out eight
different stickers that I thought you would be interested in. Click on the above photo for a larger

Another set of internationals means yet another two-week break in Premier League action. Isn't
it about time something was changed in the International set-up? International Breaks – I hate
them. As the press get over-excited about England playing the might of Montenegro or Scotland
travelling to face those footballing-giants Liechtenstein, for me, it hardly merits a look.
I don't think a year has gone by where I haven't asked for a soccer-related gift for Christmas
or where my Christmas wish-list didn't contain at least one soccer item. This year is no
different.
If I was to be unrealistic (which I sometimes am), here would be my dream-come-true holiday wish
list:
A promotion for Swansea City from the Championship to the Premier League, and
A local Major League Soccer team in South Florida.
Reading arch-rival Sid Lowe's column today, and already I'm aware this is going to be an uphill
climb. You see, El Sid not only wrote an almost indecipherable name-drop-y main article about
Zlatan and his agent (do we really need to write about their agents now?), but he also included a
few bullet-pointed extras at the bottom about the other goings on of opening weekend.
Some of you who regularly read EPL Talk know that I'm a big fan of location-based social
networking apps such as Foursquare, Gowalla, Miso and – one of my new favorites – Foodspotting.
The apps, which can be used on your phone or online, allow you to "check in" to different places so
your friends and followers can find out what establishments you like and which TV programs you
watch.
Difficult not to feel some sympathy with Spain, given our record for pre-tournament injuries,
especially when the player involved could have been one of the stars of the World Cup...but
Fernando Torres is set to miss six weeks after undergoing surgery for a torn
cartilage in his right knee.

I have for a long time inexplicably looked out for West Brom's results, a footballing peculiarity I
can trace back to collecting Panini stickers in 1980, when theirs was the first team I had all the
stickers for. At that time, with players like Robson and Regis, they were one of the better sides
in the old First Division.
With the Champions League quarterfinals a thing of the past, here are eight things I noticed
from the last eight.
The Usual Suspects
So, here we are again. Three English teams and Barcelona square off for the Champions League
semis for the second consecutive year. No doubt Michel Platini will have already dusted off his
Panini stickers and erected a Barcelona shine in his 'salon.
Time for a bit of Friday fun with the fourth installment of Pies' extra special random Premier League sticker quiz.
You know the drill peeps: Try to identify this score of 1990s heroes, tot up your tally and tell us how well you went on in the comments below the dotted line if you see fit.
As a child and young adult, I loved Panini stickers. They were a perfect combination of things I
love including soccer and collecting. As I've grown older, though, the love for collecting Panini
soccer stickers — whether it's for World ...

Day two of cleaning up my garage unearthed some more gems. This time it's "Football '90," which is
a small stack of Panini stickers from the 1990-91 season. There are about 50-75 stickers in all,
nowhere near the entire collection. ...

Preston have appointed Peter Ridsdale as their new Chairman of Football which, given that the man
collects clubs in financial difficulties like Panini stickers, is a strange move. Here are five men
who have done a worse job, and may well be the only ones: 5) Ken Richardson Doncaster Hired two
gangsters to burn [.
Hand on heart, I'll be glad when a red line is drawn under this feckin'
transfer window and we can all get on with our lives. It's the hope that kills me; the thought of
waking up every morning with want to find gold in the headlines only to discover it's rolled up
balls of horse shit painted in Airfix bronze.
One of the few magical shops that were often an enjoyment for me when I was growing up in the
United Kingdom was the local newsagents. The store, which would sell an assortment of things such
as newspapers, magazines, confectionary, lottery tickets, drinks, greetings cards and much more was
one of the most exciting places I would visit when I was a child.
The first World Cup that I remember properly is Spain '82; I have vague memories
of Kempes et al in 1978 but Bryan Robson and Paulo Rossi in 1982 is where it really started for
me.
The Dame of Turin himself, Del Piero played his
445th game for Juventus yesterday but all he got was a lousy shirt. Even
Roberto Bettega knew that they printed that out at Uncle Corioni's shop in
exchange for Panini stickers!
