Today the list of 35 players was announced that will play in a friendly on June 6th in Pisa vs.
Northern Ireland and the upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup. 22 players were called up for the
Northern Ireland game, while 13 will skip that match and go straight to South Africa. Lippi said in
recent weeks that the roster for the Northern Ireland match would be mainly experimental and would
give national team experience to the players that merited a call-up based on their play throughout
the Serie A season.

The Italian call-ups for their upcoming World Cup 2010 Qualifying matches vs.
Montenegro (March 28) and Montenegro (April 4) have been
revealed. Italy coach Marcello Lippi submitted the list of 23 players to FIFA earlier this week, a
list which as usual contains notable absentees and a few surprises.
This Saturday the second coming of Lippi happens. The cigar smoking, Paul Newman look-a-like
will make his call-ups for the August 20th friendly vs. Austria in Nice (why are we playing vs.
Austria in France?). Lippi has said that he will call players that are most in-form from pre-season
training, and he has already hinted that there will be some new faces.
