Dossena Agent Denies Napoli Switch

Serie A Talk 06 November @ 09:38 AM EST

The agent of Andrea Dossena has released a statement denying that the player is in talks with Napoli ahead of a potential return to Serie A in the January transfer window.

The Italian international has struggled to settle in the Premier League following his £7m transfer from Udinese in the summer of 2008 and has failed to hold down a regular starting place in a Liverpool shirt.

Goals of the Week: Giornata 11

The Offside: Italy 03 November @ 11:32 AM EST

A few nice goals this week, but nothing extraordinary. Giuseppe Mascara scored one of his trademark wonder-goals, and Marco Borriello got back on the scoresheet with 2 goals (the second a nice scissor kick) after almost a year. Diego Milito got back to his scoring ways as well after being absent through injury, and Mirko Vucinic finally scored his first goal of the season.

Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 11

The Offside: Italy 02 November @ 03:18 PM EST

Napoli won vs. Juventus in Torino for the first time since November 20, 1988, when Maradona's Napoli won 5-3. Since then, there had been 11 wins and 5 ties, and Napoli hadn't scored in Torino since March of 1998. This Napoli side has been rejuvenated under Walter Mazzarri, and they have shown they have a never say die attitude that keeps them working for the full 90 minutes.

Regalo de todos los santos

LALIGADESPANA 02 November @ 12:51 PM EST
Click to continue reading...

Fabrizio Miccoli: Giant Killer

The Offside: Italy 30 October @ 12:08 PM EST

Fabrizio Miccoli has really become the undisputed leader of Palermo. The diminutive fantasista, or il Romario del Salento as he is so aptly nicknamed, has been putting in great performances this season and had a great year last season, and it looks like he has finally found a place to show all of his talent.

Mario Balotelli’s Spot Kick Tantrum

The Offside 30 October @ 10:30 AM EST
You know how Mario Balotelli is supremely talented but a little immature? Well last night we saw both sides again. In the opening minutes of Inter vs Palermo, Balotelli worked some magic in the box and was pulled down for a penalty. A penalty Balotelli wanted to take. So much so that he stood over the [. Inter Milan moved four points clear at the top of Serie A after winning an eight-goal thriller against Palermo tonight.

ERA SCRITTO IL RISULTATO

Juventus Blogger's Corner 30 October @ 02:30 AM EST

Video: Inter’s Mario Balotelli has to be dragged away from penalty area to let Samuel Eto’o take it

Off the Post 30 October @ 02:09 AM EST
Moody striker would like spot-kick responsibilty When Inter Milan's Mario Balotelli won a penalty five minutes into their match against Palermo last night, he obviously felt that was justification for him taking it. Samuel Eto'o disagreed, pulled rank and placed the ball on the spot. Balotelli continued to stand next to the ball demanding to take the [. Click to continue reading...

The Biggest Serie A Flops of the Last 9 years

The Offside: Italy 29 October @ 10:51 AM EST

Although we are only 10 games into the season, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is starting to look more and more like a big flop. 15 million euro were spent on the Dutch striker, and even if he reaches 5 goals this season it would seem like a big achievement. Sure you can say that he needs time to adapt to a new style of play, new language, new culture, but it's already November almost and we still have not seen Huntelaar's name on the score sheet.

Who Said the Serie A Wasn’t Entertaining?

SoccerLens 29 October @ 03:51 AM EST

What a tumultuous ten weeks it has been. When the season kicked off, even the most Italian-friendly pundits were predicting that this season, dubbed 'Year Zero' by the AC Milan fans, would be the dullest season in Italian history.

But it is now clear how wrong that prediction was. In the first two games of the season, most predictions were proven true as AC Milan were pummelled 4-0 by rivals Inter Milan, while Roma slumped to two successive defeats and Genoa and Juve both played with style.
